Tata motors the largest two wheeler commercial vehicle manufacturer of India took the initiative and introduced this sport in India called T1 Truck Racing Championship. The event took place on Sunday 23rd at the Buddh International circuit in Delhi.
12 of the Tata Prima 4038.S model Race trucks powered by massive engines which generates 370 BHP at 2100 RPM and has a top speed of 110 Km/h competed against each other for the top spot. All these trucks are modified based on the BTRA guidelines and has been certified by FMSCI after strictly going through security check-ups. An all total of 22 modifications were made to these trucks to meet the safety and performance needs. The changes which were made to the fuel tank brake cooling system, propeller shaft guards, racing seats and safety belts, exhaust, steering wheel etc made these trucks appropriate for racing.
The T1 truck racing championship comprised of two races the first one was a 5-lap Sprint Race while the second one was a 15-lap Main Race, with the Champion Award granted to the winning driver on the basis on combined points from both these races. A total of 12 of these powerful trucks raced for 45 minutes which included high speed cornering and overtaking which brought all the racing fans to edge of their seats. At the end of the race Stuart Oliver and his Team the Castrol Vecton won the race on the basis of the combined scores of the two drivers of the respective teams from both the races.
Stuart Oliver, T1 Prima Truck Racing Champion 2014 said that he had an amazing experience at the BIC track and was very happy with the overall performance of the truck. He was thrilled and happy to win the first ever Truck racing championship in India, among the enthusiastic crowd who were cheering each time they drove past the grand stand. Lastly he also added that there s lot of potential fo these kind of sport in India and he would love to come back and race again here.
The first-ever truck racing championship held in India is certainly one big step to introduce our Countries motorsport on the global motor-racing stage.

*Steve Horne, competition number 00, was the wild card entry and the 13th driver for the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship – 5-lap Sprint Race today. Steve qualified in 4th position in the qualifying session held yesterday.
Besides the winning drivers, there were top British truck racing drivers, including Bran John Burt, Dave Jenkins, Paul McCumisky, James Horne, Simon Ashley Reid, Richard Collett, Steven Powell, Steven Thomas and Graham Powell, showcased their driving skills during the event.
