MV Agusta planning to enter Indian market

MV Agusta planning to enter Indian market

MV Agusta planning to enter Indian market

After its home competitors such as Ducati, Aprilia, Moto Guzzi and Benelli making their grand entries into India, MV Agusta is seriously contemplating to make its foray in the Indian two wheeler market. According to some sources, the Italian giant, which is well known in the motorcycling circuits for producing exotic motorcycles, is planning to enter the Indian market through a joint venture with Kinetic Group.

The Kinetic Group, which has given brands such as Luna and Kinetic Honda to India, will be bringing the motorcycles of MV Agusta to the Indian shores, and will be responsible for handling the sales and marketing operations of the Italian manufacturer in the country. The joint venture is expected to make a formal announcement in the month of July, as per which the product portfolio as well as number and name of dealerships will be announced.

The tie-up of MV Agusta with Kinetic Group is seen as a part of the former’s expansion plans for the Asian and South Asian two wheeler markets. Going by the recent action plans of majors such as Triumph, Ducati, Benelli and Kawasaki, MV Agusta sees a lot of potential in the booming market of superbikes in India, which is why it doesn’t want to be anymore late in the party.

Currently, MV Agusta has a huge product lineup in the international market, which includes Stradale 800, Brutale 675, Brutale 800, Brutale 800 Dragster, Brutale 1090, F3 675, F3 800, F4, Rivale 800 and Turismo Veloce 800. Though it is still not clear whether MV Agusta will be bringing this entire lineup to India or not. However, like in other markets, the motorcycles of MV Agusta will be priced much higher than its competitors and will be positioned as niche and exclusive products, making them almost unreachable for many buyers.

MV Agusta will not develop new products for 2017

MV Agusta will not develop new products for 2017

Our favourite Italian dream house is short on bills. But there is a silverlining to this from Russia.
MV Agusta will not develop new products for 2017

MV Agusta is one brand that has occupied wall spaces in every kid’s room. Not only have they made wallpaper material machines, but also credit themselves with producing some of the world’s iconic power houses on two wheels who smack the competition right outside the ballpark.

Their rich heritage both on and off the track and exotic Italian lineage have been through the history’s ups and downs. Doing so, the company switched hands for four times in the past 12 years and have been once owned by Harley Davidson until recently by Mercedes-AMG being a 25 per cent stakeholder.

Despite making gorgeous motorcycles, MV Agusta always seems to find itself under the radar and it never seems to end for the Italian marquee. A couple of months back, it was reported that the company allegedly paid its supplier bills through its employees’ INPS contributions, Italy’s national pension system. Considered to be a white collar crime, it was under investigation by the Guardia di Finanza (Italian white collar wing) for this act and was under scrutiny for a €6.8 million of social security contributions of the employees.

More trouble came in when the company’s major owners, Mercedes-AMG were said to have pulled back after an acrimonious situation, leaving the Italian high and dry. This made MV Agusta to restructure its financial situation and was compelled to cut down its employees from 300 to just 190. They were even planning to cut down operations and production of newly developed motorcycles. And the company was hunting for investments.

Then came the news from Russia, with Love.

In November, the Italian signed an agreement to increase its capital with a Russian investment group-Black Ocean, which is a flagship satellite of Ocean Group holding company. Although no official statements regarding the question ’How much?’ has been made, it is said that it has taken close to 30 to 40 percent of the stakes.

When I approached Phil, who happens to be my boss, to discuss featuring this article on our page, he looked at it for at least a couple of minutes without saying a word while I just stood there. And then, I saw his face changing. Squinting confusion to pale blank to the awestruck excitement. Then he looks at me and I’m already giving him the ‘Yeah I know. I did that too’ face. Tinngg!... there, I just got myself a brownie point.

The rule of three, or “omne trium perfectum” as it was first written in Latin, debates that everything that comes in threes’ is perfect. This maybe the reason why the MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR is that good. An exotic Italian motorcycle that reached a new pinnacle of technical development and performance with that biblical three cylinder power mill. And where the looks of this bike go, it is so good that it was voted the most beautiful bike of the year at EICMA 2016. This bike oozes sex appeal unlike any other brand or motorcycle could offer.

Just when you thought MV pulled off a great show with this Brutale, and you started walking back with awe-filled in your body, everything goes pitch dark and the spotlights turn to the ‘Ballastic Trident’. Metal sparks fly everywhere. At first, you don’t know what to think of it, you’re brain is confused. It is still not developed enough to handle the dripping sexiness. But give it some time and you’ll thank me later for the hankering lust.
