A Bangalorean boy. A dreamer. I dream of everything having wheels and a heart. All the machines you see out there was sometime someone’s dream. And making them my lifestyle gives me a sense of direction and freedom because hey!... they are themselves at the epitome of what is called ’freedom’.

With a Masters’ in Automotive Engineering, anyone would ask what I am doing here. I did of course get my hands dirty, which is an other story for an other day, but I’ve always wanted to do something kick-a** and hence. Period.

The Japanese brand launched this 125cc commuter in India back in 2006 and since then, this bike has been a consistent performer and in turn helped Honda to buy itself the tag of a serious two- wheeler manufacturer. It did not take a lot of time to position itself on top of the leader boards and it stayed there for the longest period of time.

Since CB Shine holds a very important place in Honda’s two-wheeler portfolio, the company has updated the model for 2017 and has done so with updated safety features, a cleaner engine and bold new liveries.

You must have heard about self-driving cars that is making so much of noise in the industry today. The technology of tomorrow has already arrived today and test runs are being implemented as we speak.

On motorcycles, however, the technology is yet to completely arrive. Honda and Yamaha are already showcasing their state-of-the-art concepts to the world.

But the story here is totally different. And a funny one at it.

While a film crew was shooting on the icy frozen lakes of Minnesota, USA, a rider named Jake Larch was supposed to shoot a stunt scene which started with him jumping onto the motorcycle from the rear while the bike started was moving.

One of the largest motorcycle manufacturer, Honda, is in full gear and firing on all pistons and doing tremendously well in pioneering many great technology and features onto the world streets.

Now, they are getting busy in a run to stay as the world leaders by developing a supercharged motorcycle. As seen on a MoreBikes post, “Honda is planning a new, supercharged motorcycle that will have the power-boosting unit mounted on the left-hand side of the engine. Yamaha India has officially taken the wraps off the FZ25 in New Delhi and doing so, they have now officially entered the quarter-litre naked motorcycle segment in the country. This is Japanese’s answer to the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, the KTM Duke 200 and the Pulsar 200 range of motorcycles and sits neatly in between its siblings, the YZF-R15 and the YZF R3.

Launched in 2008, Yamaha’s FZ series of motorcycles had created a new meaning to the streetfighter nemesis. The DNA embedded had street characteristics that made the FZ the number one in the segment pretty fast. The engineers at Yamaha had a new challenge ahead of them: to create the new generation of street rumblers with a bigger engine and better dynamics. This led to the birth of the FZ25 and here is our attempt to declassify it.

In 2015, Bajaj Auto launched the first of a new-generation design philosophy in the form of the NS 200, acronym for ’naked sport’. A streetfighter that was later discontinued for not being able to be compliant to the emission norms, few say.

Down the line, TVS launched the Apache RTR 200 4V and recently Yamaha with their FZ25. To get back at this homegrown competition, Bajaj is all set to re-enter the streetfighter segment with the launch of the 2017 Pulsar NS 200, which was teased a few weeks back. The official launch, however, will happen this month but Bajaj has silently started accepting booking for the motorcycles and some showrooms have already begun delivering them the very next day.

The Austrian Orange launched the RC editions of the Duke series in 2014 and gave it full fairings and a different riding dynamics to their Duke counterparts. It handled much sharper and gave the rider better confidence due to the more sporty riding position than the upright in the Duke.

For 2017, KTM updated their RC range, both the 390 and the 200, giving them an edge from the other contenders in the segment. While the 390 received better visual cues and better mechanical equipment, the RC 200, however, was updated with only new liveries and a paint job.
