Royal Enfield Electra ES Is The New Name Of The Electra

There were rumours that Royal Enfield discontinued the Electra from the Indian market because of the low demand and perhaps in order to promote some more premium models like Classic. However that is not the case according to the latest report Eicher Motors has denied the rumours of discontinuing the Electra from the Indian market.

They also said that motorcycle won’t be taken out of the market but instead decided to rename the motorcycle to Electra ES where ‘ES’ stands for Electric Start.

An official said that the motorcycle is very much in sale and available across all the RE dealers. The motorcycle is available in four different colours which include Black, Silver, Grey and Blue. The officials also included that the name of the Bullet Electra was officially changed to Electra ES couple of months ago but because it did not showed in the website was the main reason people though that the motorcycle was discontinued. The only difference between the Electra and the Bullet 350 is that the former gets the additional Electric start option while the rest of the specification is identical.

The technical specification of the Electra ES too remains unchanged and it is powered by the same 346cc Single Cylinder, 4 strokes, Twinspark, Air-cooled engine which produces about 19.8 bhp of peak power at 5250 rpm, and 28 Nm of maximum torque at 4000 rpm.

Royal Enfield has decided to discontinue the Electra Cruiser from their lineup. This decision was taken to promote sales of other motorcycles of their lineup. RE’s current lineup now consists of their flagship motorcycle the Continental GT, their recently introduced Himalayan tourer, Thunderbird (350 & 500), Classic (350 & 500) and the Bullet range which also consists of the 350 cc and the 500 cc unit.

Although RE has not released any official statement yet on this matter but the motorcycle was taken down from the official Indian RE website. However what some of the reports states that the RE Electra was a low priced motorcycle in the brand portfolio and thus the margin of profit was also low for the company and thus it was stopped to promote some more expensive motorcycles like the Classic and the Thunderbird. Recently the demand for the motorcycle also dropped after RE introduced their newer range of motorcycles and thus there was no reason for continuing the sale of this motorcycle.

However if you are still looking to get your hands on the Electra model then you should definitely look into some dealerships because they are still selling the discontinued model until their stock lasts.

The now discontinued Electra was powered by four stroke, single cylinder, twinspark unit, which displaces 346cc and churns out 19.8 bhp of maximum power and 28 Nm of maximum torque. The mill comes paired to a 5-speed gearbox and also an electric start alongside the kickstart option.
