Five Enfield mods your eyes will thank you for

Sugar, spice and everything nice.

Any ardent biker always rides for the passion and craftsmanship that goes to rock his world between his legs. And with Royal Enfield fulfilling most of those, it only makes blind sense that they become the right weapon for those who live to get their wild imaginations etched.

Royal Enfield entered the motorcycle industry more than 115 years back in the UK which makes it the world’s oldest motorcycling company in continuous production. Since then, they have been giving us with simple and resilient machines that are ridden across some of the world’s most exciting terrains. Bajaj is all vocal about the Dominar 400 stamping on Royal Enfield

Bajaj is all vocal about the Dominar 400 stamping on Royal Enfield

They say: Don’t own an elephant.

When Bajaj launched the Dominar in 2016, it was highly pitted against the mighty Royal Enfield Classic 350. It was supposed to gorge away the sales of the RE and leave it hanging dry. I, for one, was actually very confused at this conjecture made by both Bajaj and the moto fraternity on how they interpreted this rivalry. There wasn’t any in the first place if you ask me.

To veer off loyalists from sticking onto Royal Enfields, Bajaj has started a Bulldog battle aiming straight at those RE purists and urge them to chuck the elephants and take onto the Dominar 400.

Suzuki is getting some new colours to its Gixxer Series. The FS is even getting ABS.

Keeping in touch with competition is always good for business.

Not all debuts are sure shot hits – ask Suzuki. When the Japanese manufacturer made its entry on its own almost a decade ago, it didn’t have a start as good as expected. Except for the 125cc scooter Access, no other product from Suzuki in India could shake up the already established models in their respective segments.

Then came the very promising 155cc motorcycle, the Gixxer and its faired sibling, the Gixxer SF. They became an instant hit in the mass market segment and over the years, they kept updating their best motorcycle to keep in touch with the growing competition. In 2017 too, the bikes received updates that gave them new dual tone paint schemes, disc brakes and graphics along with BH4 compliance and AHO unit.

Ducati launched the Desert Sled in India for ₹ 9.32 lakh.

A Scrambler that can finally take you places

Till today, Ducati has been making Scramblers which could have been abused but it pleased the urban way and masses and hence they became glorified street bikes. With five models in the lineup, this Desert Sled is finally the machine that is ready to get its feet properly dirty. Reinforced for off-road duty, this Desert Sled is most certainly a Scrambler-esque iteration of the South-West California and the Mexico’s Baja scenes in the ’60s and ’70s.

The Italian brand has now launched this ’ stripped off anything that is nonsensical’ motorcycle into the Indian markets at a higher price-tag than what we had expected, maybe for the GST interchanges.

Its official. Bajaj will get Husqvarna into the country sometime in 2018.

Bajaj will manufacture the 401 series in the Chakan plant and sell them alongside KTM bikes.

Since the time Husqvarna showcased its ‘Real Street’ Vitpilen 401 and the Swartipilen 401 concepts at the 2016 EICMA, the industry is abuzz to see some bonkers design unlike anything seen before on the streets. Ready to bring in the Swedish company’s name on the world stage, there were still speculations of where they will be made since Husqvarna is owned by KTM - a company that has Bajaj Auto as a shareholder.

Clearing the air, both Bajaj and KTM have released a joint press release and have confirmed that they intend to make the 401 models right here in India sometime in 2018 and sell them worldwide. Until then, however, the bikes will be made back home in Austria. But the Duke’s 390 engines that will run on these Huskies will be built right here in India by Bajaj.

Bajaj Pulsar NS 160

Bajaj Pulsar NS 160

This baby Pulsar takes on the sporty DNA of its elder sibling.

In the past fifteen years, the ‘Pulsar’ nameplate has become one of the most versatile brands in the field of motorcycles. The name has spawned a variety of bikes, ranging from 135cc to 200cc naked streetfighters, a 220cc semi-faired sports tourer and recently, a 200cc fully faired supersport motorcycle. Talking about the current range, it was the Pulsar NS 200 which turned out to be the model which opened up doors for an all new generation platform, engineering and design philosophy. It was this bike that came with new underpinnings rather than being based on the first generation Pulsar 150, upon which all the other Pulsar models were built before its arrival.

In 2017, that bike made a grand comeback and put Bajaj on the streetfighter map again. Calling it as the ’Pulsar 200 NS 2017 Laser Edged edition’, Bajaj is set to take the performance biking to a whole new level. Now, there is another sibling for the NS200 and it is heading our way very soon. The Pulsar NS 160 rumbles on. The model has already gone on sale in some of the international markets, with an Indian launch scheduled next month. Here’s our comprehensive review of the all new Pulsar NS 160:-

The Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 gets modified to break the top speed shackle.

Takes the top speed to a colossal 178 kph mark!

In 2015, Bajaj Auto launched the first of a new-generation design philosophy in the form of the NS 200, an acronym for ’naked sport’. Then in 2017, it received a major update that included upgraded engine, a bunch of cosmetic changes and a couple of mechanical upgrades. It came in to take performance biking to a new state of adrenaline and Bajaj themselves termed it as “an adrenaline pumping beast”.

Now, there is a guy who has taken this very seriously and has taken his NS 200 to new performance levels that takes the manufacturer top speed of 140kph and make dinner out of it.

2017 MV Agusta RVS#1

The true Italian dream sequence is here. And this time, it is evil.

Till what limit can the art on two wheels be extended to? Ask MV Agusta. Having made some of the most exotic Italian masterpieces on two wheels, MV has a tremendous history in terms of making some of the most beautiful looking motorcycles on the planet. And thankfully their lust is still going strong.

Some time back, MV Agusta created a special division called the Reparto Veicoli Speciali, or Special Vehicles Department, and handed them the task of creating the best MV Agusta machines that beam in terms of quality, research, performance and emotions. This division was joined by the San Marino Research Center Castiglioni (originally born as CRC, Cagiva Research Center) to work on the brand’s Brutale Dragster 800 RR and come out with an evil looking motorcycle that will scare the daylights out of anything on the road.

Enter the RVS#1. Drumrolls please.

2017 Aprilia Shiver 900

The Italian gets a bigger heart and better electronics to take on its brother from another mother.

Aprilia has been firing on all pistons to give the world class leading performance motorcycles that make the riding aphrodisiac’s hearts racing. And as with them trying to stay with changing times, they add new updated models every year to their existing lineup to keep things fresh. Although they never made many headways before, it seems like they have now learnt things the hard way and have been busy making bikes that speak for themselves and beam technical prowess.

First seen on the EICMA 2016 stage, Aprilia launched the updated models of its naked streetfighter, Shiver and it is heading our way as we speak. This was initially a 750cc motorcycle first launched in 2007, and it struggled because of its unearthing looks which were not any more striking than the competition. But now, it seems that Aprilia have given their magic touch to the 2017 edition, and it looks more so ever lively and strong. This will be the first time the Shiver bandwagon enters the country’s model lineup.

It carries a bigger 900 cc engine, a jump of a lethal 150 cc from the earlier models and they sit just below the Italian brand’s flagship models RSV4 RF and Tuono V4 1100 RF. New electronics, refined mechanics and an excellent chassis structure sees this motorcycle take new levels of riding pleasure and we are here to find out how.

Triumph is finally rolling the 2017 Street Triple onto the country roads.

Bookings have opened for the striking new Street Triple and India launch is slated this month.

For a motorcycle that is said to change the rules of the street, Triumph, a manufacturer having more than two decades of experience in building motorcycles, has bet big on their new upgraded Street Triple model. A model that had already changed the notion of a streetfighter back when it was first launched in 2007.

Giving the riders a distinctive appeal was the characterful and thrilling 675cc triple cylinder engine that had previously made the Daytona 675 sportsbike what it was. The small roadster motorcycle became a Triumph icon back then and the British brand set to repeat the same with an all-new 2017 Triumph Street Triple which will now have a 765cc under the hood.

After launching this earth shattering motorcycle in London five months ago, the British maker has set the ball rolling to introduce this machine into the Indian market as we speak. The bookings for the same have begun across Triumph showrooms in the country and apparently, only the Street Triple ‘S’ variant will be made available for now post the June 12 launch. The ‘R’ and the ‘RS’ variants will, however, come in sometime later in the year.

Aprilia launched its Shiver 900 and Dorsoduro 900 in India.

The streetfighter and the ADV shares the same engine, chassis, suspension and brakes. But are worlds apart.

First seen on the EICMA 2016 stage, Aprilia launched the updated models of its naked streetfighter Shiver and the supermoto crossover Dorsoduro in India. Both of them carry a bigger 900 cc engine, a jump of a lethal 150 cc from the earlier models and they sit just below the Italian brand’s flagship models RSV4 RF and Tuono V4 1100 RF.

Although we did have the option of buying ourselves the Dorsoduro 1200, which was shipped-by-order only, this will be the first time the Shiver bandwagon enters the country’s model lineup. As part of their 2017 updates, both the models get cosmetic and mechanical upgrades along with a bunch of modern electronic rider aides and technologies.
