Bajaj Pulsar RS200 launched in India, starts at Rs. 1.18 lakh
After months of making the enthusiasts and its ardent fans wait, Bajaj Auto has finally pulled off the wraps from the Pulsar RS200. Bajaj claims the Pulsar RS200 as the fastest Pulsar produced till date. The motorcycle has been introduced in two variants - while the base variant is priced at Rs. 1.18 lakh, the one which comes equipped with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) as an optional equipment has been priced at Rs. 1.30 lakh. (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
Based on the lines of the Pulsar SS400 showcased during the Auto Expo 2014, the Pulsar RS200 becomes the first motorcycle from Bajaj to sport a full fairing. The design language of the Pulsar RS200 is one of the most striking and busy designs among the motorcycles currently available in the Indian market.
For its segment, the motorcycle has been heavily kitted, with features such as twin projector headlamps with LED daytime running lamps, clip-on handlebars, digital instrument console, backlit switchgear, 6-speed gearbox, split seats, perimeter frame, LED tail lamps mounted on the rear fender, rear monoshock and disc brakes at both ends with the optional single channel ABS.
Powering the Pulsar RS200 is the same single cylinder, four valve, liquid cooled, triple spark 199.5cc engine which does its duty on its naked counterpart on which it is based - Pulsar NS200. Though unlike on the NS200, the engine on the RS200 is fuel injected, resulting in a power output of 24.5 bhp - 1 bhp more than that of the NS200. The maximum torque output stands at 18.6 Nm. For the new RS200, Bajaj claims sporty dynamics and a top speed of 141 kmph. For the time being, the motorcycle will be available only in two paint schemes - Yellow and Red.
Commenting on the introduction of the Pulsar RS200 to the family of Pulsars, Eric Vas, President, Motorcycle Business, Bajaj Auto Ltd said, “The Sports segment in India is poised for rapid growth driven by evolving customer preferences. There is a large number consumers who expect true track performance from their bikes. Bajaj Auto Launches the fastest Pulsar ever- unveils the all new Pulsar RS 200
• Set to re-define the Super Sport Segment with its first fully faired bike
Since its launch in 2001 the Bajaj Pulsar has created, defined and expanded the sports motorcycle market in India. Today Pulsar sells more than 55,000 units every month in the domestic sports motorcycle market with a leadership market share of 43% making it India’s no.1 Sports bike for 14 years in a row.
Bajaj R&D has constantly innovated to ensure that the Pulsars stayed ahead-on performance, technology, styling and class leading features. The new Pulsar RS 200 again breaks new ground to offer an unprecedented level of design, engineering and performance. The super sports segment today stands at less than 1% of the motorcycle market and this bike is all set to re-define and expand this segment as much as the original Pulsar did in the sports segment way back in 2001.
The Pulsar RS200 demonstrates the design, fit and finish of the dream super sports bike that Indian youth would love to ride on. The muscular yet aerodynamic bike with its Pulsar design character, stylish front fairing and evolved performance dynamics entices you to race. Once astride, the HD focus twin projector headlights tame the darkest roads with devil’s eyes. The high intensity crystal LED tail lamp mesmerizes other riders that it leaves behind.
The Pulsar RS200 takes technology to another level with:
• A 4-valve Triple Spark DTSi Engine with Fuel Injection and Liquid Cooling to deliver the ultimate 200 cc performance – seamless and tractable power delivery at all speeds, longevity and durable performance in all weather conditions.
• 300mm disc brakes with ABS for uber-responsive sure-shot braking on any surface.
• Perimeter Frame for high stiffness-low flex to conquer the trickiest hairpins with elan. The gas filled Nitrox Mono suspension goes on to ensure comfortable riding and handling of the bike for hours at a stretch.
• A throaty midship race spec exhaust for better response - hitting the redline will never sound better
The Pulsar RS 200 unleashes 24.5 PS power and achieves a top speed of 141 km/hr and redlines at 11,000 rpm. It is a bike that is designed to take on the race track or everyday roads with equal ease, like a true Pulsar would

He added, “We are already market and image leaders by far in the sports segment and with the launch of Pulsar RS 200 look forward to gaining leadership in the Super Sports segment as well.”
