2017 Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS
The same old motorcycle with added features
Recently we have reported that Bajaj Auto will be re launching their 200 cc streetfighter the Pulsar NS in January 2017. Gaadiwaadi was able to get some exclusive images from the local dealership meet where the updated Pulsar 200 NS for the model year 2017 was showcased.
There were rumours that Bajaj has actually axed their popular naked streetfighter which was launched back in the year 2012 in the year 2016 to make way for the slightly better equipped Pulsar AS200. However that is not the case Bajaj surely did cut the supply of the NS200 but they once again will be relaunching the motorcycle and this time this is definitely better equipped and also gets plenty of styling updates as well.
Now this is definitely a good time to relaunch the naked streetfighter as it can directly take on its biggest rival the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V which has definitely swiped away all the awards and became a hot favourite amongst the Indian biking enthusiast. Now that we know that the updated 2017 Pulsar 200 NS will be launching here in the Indian market next month eher are all the details available at this moment about the new naked streetfighter.

As far as the changes are concerned you can all clearly notice that updated motorcycle more or less remains same overall. What has changed though is that it gets a completely new graphics and offcourse new paint schemes.
The Pulsar NS is known for quite recognisable because of its chiselled fuel tank, stylish headlamp cluster which looks like it has been inspired from the movie transformer, analogue cum digital instrument cluster, split sporty seats and the signature split LED taillamps. What else also looks new is that the updated motorcycle also has received an engine guard as well towards the lower half of the motorcycle.
If we talk about powertrain then there is definitely some good news for the Pulsar lovers out there. Bajaj has decided to equip the updated 200 NS with a fuel injected system. You read that right! The 2017 Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS will be powered by the same 199.5cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, triple-spark engine which has been tuned to deliver a maximum power output of 23.5 PS at 9,000 rpm and 18.3 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 rpm. The engine is paired to a 6 speed gearbox. Now if the NS gets fuel injection technology then the same engine will produce slightly more power output of 24.5 Ps and 18.3 Nm of torque.
If we talk about performance then the Pulsar 200 Ns is capable of sprinting from 0-60 Km/h mark in just 3.1 seconds while the motorcycle can reach speeds of around 135 km/h.
RIDE AND HANDLING
The updated Pulsar 200 NS still uses the same pressed steel perimeter frame. For the suspension setup the 200 NS still gets telescopic front forks and mono suspension setup with nitrox at the rear. For braking the updated 2017 Pulsar 200 NS gets 280 mm disc brakes towards the front and 230 mm disc brakes towards the rear.
Now there is some good news here as well. The new NS also gets a single channel ABS system as well only for the front wheels just like the ones available with the RS200. But offcourse this will be available at an extra cost.
Expect the new Pulsar 200 NS to be priced slightly higher than the previous NS while the single channel ABS variant will be priced atleast 10, 000-12, 000 more than the non ABS variant.
The biggest threat that the 2017 Pulsar 200 NS will receive is from the recently introduced Apache RTR 200. This motorcycle definitely has impressed many and like we already mentioned has won several awards this year. Compared to the the 199.5 cc mill of the Pulsar the 197.75cc engine is capable of producing about 20.05 PS of power and 18.1 Nm of torque, the fuel injected version of the same engine gushes out 21 PS of power and 18.1 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The motorcycle is also available with a duel channel ABS which is definitely one big advantage for TVS.
The updated 2017 Bajaj Pulsar 200NS definitely looks better equipped with the additional Fuel injection and single channel ABS being offered for the first time. Hopefully Bajaj will also price it quite aggressively as well. There is no doubt that the 200 NS is quite popular amongst the crowd for its handling powerful engine. Hope this entry level performance motorcycle will be able to impress the fans again now that it is better equipped.
