The Pulsar 220 was introduced in the year 2007 and is one of the most stylish and feature packed motorcycle of this segment as I already mentioned above. It was the first motorcycle which featured clip on handlebars, digital instrument console and rear disc brakes.

The front of the motorcycle is highlighted by the stylish set of projector lamps which is also introduced for the first time in any Indian bike, just behind the front headlamps are those stylish new digital console which displays a speedometer, fuel gauge and trip meter. Beside that it also has an analogue RPM meter. The whole display unit with the orange lit display looks superb and very modern. The half sporty fairing and the stylish looking fuel tank with the 3D Pulsar emblem too looks good, the split seats looks sporty and provides enough comfort for the rider and the pillion, it even has a two split grab handlebar which looks distinctive. The stylish looking LED tail lamps also compliments the overall good looks of the motorcycle.

After 2 years of the launch of the Pulsar 220 several other manufacturers also started launching their own stylish, sporty and powerful motorcycles so Bajaj decided to refresh their bigger Pulsar and later in the year 2009 they launched the refreshed Pulsar which received some new cosmetic upgrades, the Chassis, alloy wheels, suspension system and its engine received a Black color treatment which made it look even more meaner. A big “F” logo was inserted behind the front fairing of the Motorcycle. Beside all these cosmetic updates it also received few technical upgrades too about which we will talk later. The Pulsar 220 is a mean looking sporty machine which has many advanced features that are still absent in many Indian Motorcycles some of them include a self cancelling turn indicators, a full DC 12 V electronic system, tubeless tyres etc.

Overall these motorcycles styling will surely impress those who loves a stylish and feature packed motorcycle for themselves.

The Bajaj Pulsar 220 is powered by a 4-stroke, DTS-i, oil cooled, single cylinder 220 cc engine which generates a healthy 21.05 Ps of maximum power at 8500 rpm and 19.12 Nm of torque at 7000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5 speed gearbox, it is also fitted with a UCAL, UCD 32 Venturi Carburrettor and twin plug DTSi technology which in turn returns more power but at the same time makes the motorcycle more fuel efficient. The high lift cams and the modified intake ports are the secret behind the impressive overall power. This motorcycle can easily reach 0-60 km mark in less than 5 seconds and also has an impressive top speed of 133 km/h mark. With this new engine Bajaj has also claimed improved fuel efficiency over its predecessor.

The sporty Motorcycle is apt for long distance ride and a quick sprint from point A to Point B. With all the modification being made to the Pulsar 220 it now has better pick up and quick acceleration. One can easily zip past city traffic with a twist on the throttle; now even with better acceleration driving on the highways is more fun.

The ride and handling quality of the motorcycle too is impressive and this is also one of the very first motorcycles which had gas charged twin shock absorbers at the rear of the motorcycle. This motorcycle is build around a twin downtube chassis which helps maintaining the overall balance and stability of the motorcycle. It uses 90/90 17 inch tubeless tyres at the front and 120/80 17 inch tubeless tyres at its rear which will definitely provide enough amount of grips both on the road and on the Tarmac. It uses a 260 mm disc at its front and 230 mm disc at its rear to bring the motorcycle to a halt.

The Bajaj Pulsar 220 is priced at Rs. 84,055 (Ex-showroom Delhi). This motorcycle is available in
- * Blue
- * Red
- * Black

Presently there are many worthy competitors to compete with the Bajaj Pulsar 220 but it gets some really tough competition from the Yamaha R15 version 2.0.

This is one true sportsbike by every means and its whole design language clearly speaks in favor of it. The motorcycle is powered by a 149.8 cc Liquid-cooled 4-stroke engine which generates 17 PS of maximum power at 8,500 RPM and 15 Nm of torque at 7,500 RPM, the engine has been mated to a 6 speed gearbox and has everything to impress the people. Off course many would say that this Motorcycle is only powered by a 149 cc engine whereas the Pulsar 220 is has a bigger engine but they both have sportsbike look and feel and thus are suitable competitor with each other. Off course the R15 is costlier than the Pulsar 220 by some fair amount the aggressive pricing is also another advantage for this Motorcycle.

The Pulsar 220 is one of the most powerful motorcycles which have been priced aggressively by Bajaj. This Motorcycle not only goes fast but it is comfortable even for long rides, the powerful headlamps are especially helpful during night time riding the tubeless tyres too provides enough grip on any road condition and the clip on handlebars also helps in easy maneuvering of the Motorcycle. If someone is looking for a powerful Motorcycle which is loaded with plenty of features and priced extremely well then this is the Motorcycle is worth every penny.
