September is turning out to be a busy month for the Indian automotive industry. In the two wheeler space, TVS Motor will launch an all-new 125cc offering and teasers are now out officially. While the company is tight lipped about the offering, it will be geared towards enthusiasts and will lock horns with the current trend setter, the Bajaj Pulsar NS 125. Other rivals will include the conventional Pulsar 125 and the Honda Shine SP 125.

TVS Motors used to have presence in the 125cc segment with bikes like the Flame, Victor and Phoenix. However, none of these offerings managed to get going in good numbers. The last of the 125cc TVS models was taken off the market about 2 years ago but the company seems to be bouncing back with this new model. More details will be revealed on the 16th Sep and it might end up being named either the Fiero, or the Retron or the Raider.

The most affordable ’performance’ oriented bike from TVS is the current RTR 160 but with a sticker price of over Rs 1 lakh. This new 125cc bike will be slotted in the Rs 85-90k range and will be a good stepping stone into the world of small capacity fun bikes for newbies. Knowing how well engineered the RTR range is, its safe to assume that this new bike will create a benchmark for dynamics and performance. Stay tuned!
