The motorcycle will make it to the Indian market towards the end of 2016 or early 2017

The production version of the TVS Akula 310 Concept which was showcased at the 2016 Auto expo was spied recently in a new video in its production avatar. Although the motorcycle was covered in heavy camouflage but still the rider who was actually capturing the footage on his helmet cam realised that it was indeed the production variant of the Akula Concept.

The production variant of the Akula concept will most probably be called the Apache RTR 300 and it adorns a full fairing which will also make this motorcycle the first ever production motorcycle from TVS to get a full fairing. The new motorcycle is based on the same platform as the BMW G310R which too will make its entry in the Indian market soon.

What is even more interesting is also the fact that Apache RTR 300 will also use the same 313 cc, single cylinder liquid cooled engine which was developed in collaboration with BMW and TVS. This engine powers the BMW G310R, The 313 cc mill produces around 34 Hp of peak power at 9, 500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 7, 500 rpm on the BMW motorcycle. However TVS will tune it differently for their own Apache variant. What will remain same is the gearbox. The Apache RTR 300 will also be the first motorcycle to get the 6 speed manual gearbox.

Although the production variant of the Apache RTR300 won’t get carbon fiber parts as seen on the concept but rumours are that it will retain the Upside down front forks setup even on the production variant while the rear will get the monoshock setup. The Apache RTR300 will also use sticky rubbers and duel channel ABS setup for the safety of the rider.

Expect the motorcycle to be launched towards the end of this year and it will be priced in between INR. 1.50-2.0 Lakh rupees (ex showroom).
