Bajaj Auto surely knows how to keep their fans happy. They have recently introduced the Pulsar 250 twins that are currently the most affordable 250cc motorcycles that you can buy. Not only do they look good, but they also promise impressive performance and features.
In today’s duel, we feature the semi-faired Bajaj Pulsar F250 taking on the sporty Yamaha YZF R15 V4.0, which left quite a buzz since its launch in India last year. Will the sportier YZF-R15 V4 beat the more powerful Pulsar F250? You will be surprised by the outcome.
The Bajaj Pulsar F250 uses a newly constructed BS6 compliant 249.07cc, air-oil cooled, single-cylinder, fuel-injected, SOHC 2 Valve engine. The engine produces about 24.5 Bhp of peak power at 8,750 rpm and 21 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The unit is paired with a 5-speed gearbox and gets a slipper clutch as standard.
Its rival, the Yamaha YZF-R15 V4, on the other hand, uses a 155cc, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, SOHC, 4-valve engine that produces 18.4 PS of peak power at 10,000rpm and a torque output of 14.2 Nm at 7,500rpm. The engine is paired to a six-speed gearbox and it too gets a slipper clutch as standard.
Bajaj Pulsar F250 VS Yamaha YZF-R15 V4: Drag Race
Both the motorcycles had a perfect launch at the start of the race. The Pulsar F250 takes the first spot because it gets the more powerful engine amongst the duo. The Pulsar F250 impresses with its initial acceleration and meaty mid-range. But the R15 V4, known for its excellent top-end power delivery, catches up with its rival but fails to overtake it till the end.
The Pulsar F250 was the winner at the end of the first drag race attempt.
The riders swapped their motorcycles to keep the results as realistic as possible. At the start of the second drag race attempt, the Pulsar F250 took the first spot with its impressive initial power delivery. The YZF-R15 came close to winning the second drag race attempt but failed to overtake the F250 till the end of the drag race.
We believe there was a possibility that the Yamaha R15 V4 could have won the second drag race attempt if the race continued a bit longer.
The Bajaj Pulsar F250 beat the Yamaha YZF-R15 V4 in both drag race attempts with its initial acceleration and impressive mid-range power delivery. The Yamaha YZF-R15 V4 is a worthy competitor to the Pulsar F250. It is popular for its punchy top-end power delivery and would have won this drag race battle if it continued a little longer.
