We all know that Ducati is one such motorcycle maker which makes machines straight from the heart. Each and every motorcycle in the stable of Ducati speaks of some purpose which is beautifully blended with the pinch of hardcore passion. One such revolutionary step was taken by Ducati when it first previewed the Multistrada in front of the world. Out of all the motorcycles from Ducati, the Multistrada proved out to be the most practical motorcycle which still doesn’t miss out on the specific Ducati principles.

However, the current generation Multistrada 1200 is a bit intimidating and out-of-reach for a majority of buyers, due to its big 1200cc engine and large dimensions, especially for riders who are new to the big bike world. It seems that Ducati has understood this fact, which is why it has come up with the all-new Multistrada 950, the all-new model in the family of adventure motorcycles from Ducati.

Introduced as an entry level adventure motorcycle from Ducati, the Multistrada 950 is the most affordable and smallest motorcycle in Multistrada family, which is aimed at those riders who are new to two wheeler adventure motoring. Here’s our comprehensive review of the all-new Ducati Multistrada 950:-

The Dakar Rally (or simply "The Dakar"; formerly known as the "Paris–Dakar Rally") is the world’s most challenging cross-country rally event that judges the physical and mental aptitudes of the rider and the machine since its inception in 1978.

The 2017 edition that started this week has already seen four days of exciting stages where both man and machine have been put through the gruelling courses that test them to the limit and more.

For the first time, India has two teams running the Dakar. Hero Motorsports and TVS Racing, and each have an Indian behind the helm of their machines. Two Indian men with two different Indian teams are vying at the world rally stage and going by the history books, we will get to see our country’s first motorsports rivalry taking shape.

Hero MotoCorp is the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer and now they have joined hands with the German off-roading specialist Speedbrain GmbH (Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung which is German for "company with limited liability") to formally create the ‘Hero MotoSports Team Rally’. And the India rider running with this team is the country’s top motorsport athlete CS Santhosh who had participated in the Dakar in the previous year.

TVS Racing also entered the Dakar with the technical partner, Sherco Motorcycles, who have successfully participated the world rally for a couple of years now. Soon after hero made the announcement, TVS Racing also showcased their Dakar plans. Riding their RTR450 will be another Indian debutante who goes by the name Aravind KP.

Both the Indian riders were looking good up to the second stage where towards the end, KP Aravind was invited to few fractures due to a crash. Meanwhile, CS Santhosh was still floating at a humble 56th position.

In the third leg, riders had to traverse for 64 kilometres from San Miguel de Tucuman to San Salvador de Jujuy. TVS rider Aravind had another nasty crash which found him fallen off the motorcycle close to 40 kilometres from the start point.

Although he was determined to finish the rally, his grievous shoulder that got injured was not recuperable and this made him retire for the rest of the stages, shattering the debutante’s dreams.

TVS Sherco’s riders Pedrero Garcia and Adrian Metge finished in the 16th and 30th slots respectively.

CS Santhosh too had navigation issues and eventually settled for 67th in the third stage. But unfortunately, it was a bad day for him too as he was penalised to 81st position for having missed a waypoint. However, Hero’s second rider Joaquim Rodrigues is having a successful campaign and is currently floating high in the 18th position.

For some people, adventure is about finding your way through the unknown and doing things most have not or seeing things never seen before is a savour best felt. But unless you plan on walking, you need a way to get there. This is where Honda’s new offering comes in and sweeps you off your feet in the most humble and matured way.

Almost 30 years ago, the Africa Twin conquered the Paris-Dakar Rally. This year, it’s been re-imagined with the same True Adventure spirit and is hitting the Indian shores after a delay of nearly a couple of years.

With the Dakar rally, some manufacturers were happy about being participated, but Honda went on to win 1-2-3 positions in 1986. Just 5 years after their first appearance. And they did it on the then Africa Twin.

Honda has now made use of that wild experience and fed it into their brand new avatar of that legendary Dakar motorcycle, the NXR750, and gives us the CRF 1000L Africa Twin. A machine born in the factory but tamed in the wilderness that inherits the “go anywhere” phenomena and embodies the latest of technology and engine construction to literally do just that without any fuss.

With this motorcycle, Honda throws a challenge at us - ‘It’s not a question of how far your Honda will go. It’s how far you’re willing to take it’. And knowing the reliability of a Honda, I’m guessing it’s a challenge for us to take upon without having to think twice about the machine.

Both amateur and professional teams participate in this off-road endurance event on motorcycles, quad-bikes, cars and trucks across three countries in South America (since 2009). And the first entry to this monster rally from India in the Motorcycle segment is the Hero Motorsports team which will be participating for the 2017 stage that is beginning in four days from the time you will be reading this. This is the outfit’s first big milestone into motorsports.

It is not a new news that KTM is developing a small displacement adventure travel/enduro series of motorcycle. And it has a very high possibility of it coming to the Indian shores. The web is now flooded with images of KTM testing their newest creation on roads and a few grabbed our attention too. Spied somewhere in Europe, these images have surfaced just after BMW and Kawasaki unveiled the G 310GS and the Versys-X 300 and both these machines are headed to India in 2017 and looking to create a niche to the whole segment that is currently only filled by the Royal Enfield Himalayan and maybe the Mahindra Mojo

Now, these images are proof that KTM is testing their prototypes on the road. With exposed frame welds, flat sheet plastic zip-tied bodywork and an information-gathering module in place of the instrument panel, this is clearly far from still hitting the production line. What is more interesting is that this test mule is not running on the same KTM Duke 390 mill as we all thought. .

Success was not a problem with BMW, especially for their R NineT. It has absolutely been a hit story for the German ever since it launched the R Nine T in 2013. It was so good that BMW struggled initially to keep up with the demand and they released one version after the other in succession to the world stage that include the Pure (roadster) and Racer (café/endurance-style), as well as the Scrambler. It is a no brainer that BMW Motorrad will see it fitting to extend their range even further.

The GS motorcycles refers to either Gelände/Straße (German: off-road/road) and are distinguished by their long travel suspension, upright riding position and larger front wheels. Taking up the same moniker is the Urban G/S which is purpose built street-oriented motorcycle that has a charm bound to resonate with onlookers. Based on the ‘Lac Rose’ concept seen at Wheels and Waves earlier this year, the German finally took the wraps off their new 2017 BMW R nineT Urban G/S at this year’s EICMA in Milan.

Paying homage to the original 1980 BMW R80G/S, this urban combines the classic motorcycle with modern technology and sophisticated craftsmanship that can transport anyone back to the days when the GS abbreviation meant a sense of freedom and the passion for adventure on two wheels, both on-road and off-road. But this time they’re for looks and not for bashing your way across unpaved expanses of Africa.

Triumph has had a stupendous track record in the last three years with its adventure range of motorcycles under the name ‘Tiger’. The motorcycles, which come in a variety of options ranging from 800cc to 1215cc, have created a lot of buzz owing to their off road capabilities and touring credentials, making them one of the most practical big bikes in the Indian context of motorcycling.

Out of its entire range, the Tiger Explorer lineup sits right at the top of the entire adventure motorcycle portfolio of Triumph. Till date, Triumph has had only the most basic motorcycle of this lineup, the Tiger Explorer XC, in the Indian market, but considering the popularity of this platform in the Indian market, the British manufacturer is mulling to bring more and more models in this range, the most evident one being the new Explorer XR, a sportier version of the Explorer XC. Impulse is the first motorcycle launched from the stable of Hero Motocorp after its split up with their long term partner Honda. This was an attempt from Hero’s part to get established as an individual brand. Hero Motocorp struggled initially after splitting up with Honda because the joint venture with Honda brought lot of success for them in the past and perhaps this fact was the driving force behind Hero once again partnering with the Erik Buell Racing, USA. Because of this strategic alliance, Hero is entitled to borrow the designs and technology from the partner for producing some high end motorcycles for India, Hero Impulse is one of the resultant bike of the alliance which has been manufactured in the country itself.

Placed among the 150cc segment, Impulse is a bike of its own kind, which has a blend of ruggedness and sporty appeal to it, it is the first ever off-road bike from the HMCL’s line up. At a mere glance, Impulse may not attract many but a ride may help one to understand the bike’s overall dynamics. By now many questions starts to hover into one’s mind like how is the bike in real sense? could it match the standard of expectation or not, is the bike powerful enough for off-roading etc. To quench the thirst of information about Hero Impulse, here is our review of this one of a kind motorcycle from the stable of Hero Motocorp.
