Marking the end of the greatest show ever played by Ducati, the Panigale.

Ducati always has had this insanity in them to time and again bring up machines that push the boundaries of two-wheeled glory, a boundary that will make every other manufacturer look like a speck of dust. For this alone, we must hand it to the Italian with all pomp and flair that they can literally pull off a true bloody special edition.

And this expression was very much evident with their flagship model, the Panigale ever since it broke covers in 2011. It is one of the world’s most powerful twin-cylinder motorcycle, and Ducati is giving the world one last taste of the L-twins by unveiling the 1299 Panigale R Final Edition. This will mark the end of the L-twin Italian superbikes.

Under all this is what I call a ‘Brobdingnagian’ twin Superquadro powerhouse that can scare the daylights out of most seasoned riders. If that still does not fit your bill, the electronics package on this, one would need a Master’s degree and a PhD to understand the concepts of it, and by the time you do understand, you would stop caring about it because your brain is gizzing already.

Ducati is giving the world one last taste of the L-twins by unveiling the 1299 Panigale R Final Edition.

This will mark the end of the L-twin Italian superbikes, but also is the mark of new four cylinder beginnings.

They say that when you end the show, you must do it with a bang. Ducati here seems to just know how to conclude their greatest show of all time, the Panigale. Amidst the beautiful setup of Pebble Beach, California, the Italian brand unveiled their final adieu to the L-twins with the 1299 Panigale R Final Edition.

Aptly named, this last one gets all the bells and whistles some of which made headlines with the 1299 Panigale, the Panigale R and the 1299 Superleggera. Apart from being a pretty Tri-colour paint job, it gets an upgraded engine and other mechanicals that takes the superbike to new levels of lust. At $40,000 (USA) it will also be the second most powerful twin-cylinder engine to run on our streets (after the Superleggera of course).

Ducati's 'final' Panigale is coming on July 7. And we have a peek at the specs here.

Ducati’s ’final’ Panigale is coming on July 7. And we have a peek at the specs here.

This monster will make more than 200 bhp and will be priced less than half of the ultimate Superleggera.

Last week, the Italian manufacturer teased its final edition of the famous 1299 Panigale to the world. Titled as ’ When the end tells the whole story’, the video is filled with fast-paced takes on the bike’s red/white Corse livery, headlight and tail units and the titanium racing exhaust. the video is surely a nod to the last big-displacement v-twin superbike from Ducati. Why do I say this? The words “Panigale Final Edition” in the video title makes it very evident.

Now, we also get teased with mouthwatering specs of this ’last’ 1299 Panigale R which is going to debut at the Laguna Seca Moto GP weekend in California.on July 7, 2017. A dealer in the UK has released the specifications and with it making just 5 bhp and 3 Nm lesser than the brand’s super fighter, the Superleggera, and costing less than half of it, the Panigale is going to blow your mind.

Ducati has taken down eight BS-III models from the shelves.

Ducati has taken down eight BS-III models from the shelves.

Along with introducing new models, they will replace the BS-III models with BS-IV ones.

As you all know, starting from April 1st, 2017, the Supreme Court has ordered all manufacturers to stop registering and selling vehicles still running on BS-III engines. To clear them before the deadline all dealers who had stock started levying massive discounts on their products, and some even lost money in this process. The industry took a ₹ 600 crore hit due to the three-day discount fest.

Then there were few motorcycles that just did not sell despite the discounts. This was the cue for the manufacturers to take them off the shelves completely and get a new replacement machine for the same ones. While all other manufacturers have already replaced them, Ducati has been on the sluggish area with respect to this. Only this week is when the Italian brand took down eight models from its Indian line-up. The brand will re-launch those models with BS-IV spec models and also introduce a few more to the country’s model list.

OVERVIEW 2017 Ducati 1299 Superleggera

2017 Ducati 1299 Superleggera

The most exotic Superbike you can never have, even if you had money.

Ducati always have had this insanity in them to time and again bring up machines that push the boundaries of two-wheeled glory, a boundary that will make every other manufacturer look like a speck of dust. For this alone, we must hand it to the Italian with all pomp and flair that they can literally pull off a true bloody special edition.

And this time we are talking about a 215 bhp of carbon fibre, the Ducati 1299 Superleggera. Which by the name itself means “simply light”. This is, ladies and gentlemen, the world’s first factory built superbike that is equipped with frame, swingarm, subframe, bodywork and the wheels built out of carbon fibre.

Ducati tells the world that ‘The 1299 Superleggera is the greatest expression of engineering, technology and performance ever put into mass production by a motorcycle manufacturer‘. It is a reminiscence of the legendary 1199 Superleggera.

Under all this is what I call a ‘Brobdingnagian’ twin Superquadro power house that can scare the daylights out of most seasoned riders. If that still does not fit your bill, the electronics package on this, one would need a Master’s degree and a PhD to understand the concepts of it, and by the time you do understand, you would stop caring about it because your brain is gizzing already.

CNBC-TV18 OVERDRIVE Awards 2017 announced

The year 2016 is coming towards an end and what a year it has been for the automotive industry in India. If statistics are to be believed, India is in the highest rankings in terms of growing economy. People have started investing in higher range of motorcycles that are lauded in the performance and engineering arena. More and more players started entering the Indian subcontinent to showcase their entry level performance machines. It just didn’t stop there. Players in India also fired all their pistons to go head to head with their foreign counterparts.

Since 1955, the year when the first batch of motorcycles in India were manufactured by Royal Enfield of United Kingdom, put together in Madras (Chennai), the motorcycle industry in the country has grown mountains with its own share of valleys. And somewhere in between promising players emerged within and managed to live up to the expectations and more. Today they are capable of producing motorcycles that beam innovation and technology acumen at the highest standards giving the competition a run for their money.

The CNBC-TV18 OVERDRIVE Awards have been one of the few coveted award ceremonies where every manufacturer wants to grab top honours. This has been the way since the beginning of this century and is the only one held in association with all the apex industry bodies (CII, SIAM and ACMA). Every year these awards recognise achievements in multiple categories across the automotive galaxy. For things having two wheels, there are six categories of awards and the process of identifying these awards includes a jury consisting of members of the media house and experts in their respective fields.

OVERVIEW 2016 Ducati 959 Panigale US

2016 Ducati 959 Panigale US

The combination of beauty and beast

Combining beauty with the traits of a beast is not an easy task. But that is not a context with Ducati. The Italian marque has always amazed the enthusiasts in the past with its machines that hide a ruthless soul under their drop-dead gorgeous skin. Take for instance, its current flagship model Panigale, which broke its covers in 2011. Being a successor to the exemplary 1198 was not an easy task, but the 1199 Panigale did it with ease and grace.

Ducati then felt that it can cater to a much wider audience, as it introduced the scaled down version of the motorcycle in the form of 899 Panigale. It skimped down on some features and came equipped with a smaller engine, but then the prices dropped down drastically, and much more buyers picked it up so as to experience the magic of supersport experience of Ducati.

For the year 2016, Ducati did introduce an all new model of the Panigale lineup – the 959 Panigale. The 959 Panigale was launched as a replacement model of the 899 Panigale, the motorcycle on which it is based, both in terms of design and mechanicals. The 959 Panigale is now serving as the most affordable supersport in the international lineup of Ducati. But there’s a catch – the 959 Panigale is a bit different than the model which is sold in the rest of the countries where Ducati has its presence. What all changes does the US-specific 959 Panigale packs in when compared to the standard version available worldwide. Here’s a comprehensive preview of the all new Ducati 959 Panigale US:-

His first project was a single cylinder engine motorcycle named the Grand sport which was also known as Marianna that won many hearts in Europe. This particular Motorcycle paved the path for the creation of the famous Desmodromic system and ultimately to the iconic L twin engine.

Ducati 899 Panigale To Be Launched Internationally Very Soon

Ducati, the Italian two-wheeler major is currently surrounded amidst hypes and rumors round the web. Those who regularly follow the news related to bikes must have known about the flagship model of Ducati which is popularly known as the 1199 Panigale. No, it is not about 1199 Panigale, but the smaller capacity variant of this flagship model which is speculated to have been in the making by Ducati. This new baby Panigale is expected to feature a brand new, four-stroke, 899cc, V-twin engine. It is being heard that the company has invested many years to develop this very engine which is based on the 1199’s Superquadro platform. It can be guessed that this new member shall replace the existing 848 range of sports motorcycles which has been very successful in the market.

Ducati 899 Panigale shall be borrowing a host of cutting-edge motorcycle technology from its elder sibling such as:

Anti-lock brakes Traction Control Variable riding modes Quick shifter

The new engine is expected to churn out a power output of around 150bhp, and since it shall find its position under the 1199 Panigale, it may get a lower specification suspension system as well as a dual sided Swing-arm too. This is considered to be a market trick used by the companies so as not to compromise with the components of the elder model. Apart from the styling and technology possibilities, the launch possibility of the baby Panigale in the international markets is very soon as should be up for exhibition at EICMA 2013. Our Indian moto-enthusiasts may expect it to hit the Indian showrooms few months later.
