The Bugatti Veyron, built by the German manufacturer Volkswagen, and it is known as the world’s fastest car. The original car, which was launched back in 2005, had a top speed of 407 kmph. This was not enough for the manufacturers. They then launched the Super Sports version that could reach 430.9 kmph. The Bugatti Veyron Super Sports has been recognised by the Guinness World Records as the fastest car in the world. The hypercar was built by Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S in Molsheim, France.
The roadster version of the car is called the Veyron Vitesse. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse is the fastest roadster in the world. Like all the Veyrons, it is powered by an 8.0litre W16 engine. Its power output is the same as the Super Sports. It develops 1,200 HP and 1,500 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The car accelerates to a 100 kmph from a standstill in just 2.6 seconds and it has a top speed of 410 kmph. This can be accessed only on closed roads and for normal use, the top speed is limited to a sensible 375 kmph.
Every year, the police close a section of Idaho’s Highway 75 in the U.S. It is used to host the Sun Valley Road Rally where participants are allowed to reach the top speed of their cars. The entry fees are sent to The Drug Coalition, a charity organisation.
This year, a one off Veyron Vitesse called the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse L’Or Rouge, or simply the “Hellbug” took part. The car managed to hit a top speed of 235.7 mph or 379.32 kmph giving out an amazing fighter jet like noise.
