Did You Watched The New Volvo V40 Commercial: Video

The V40 ’s character highlighted in the right manner

Volvo recently introduced the updated Volvo V40 to the world and although it has received subtle updates but that actually has helped the small hatchback to get a new character. The V40 as you all know by now underpins the global C platform which was developed for small cars. Although this car has been developed to compete with the other smaller cars from premium manufacturers like BMW, Mercedes and Audi but still it has a long way to go when we talk about the sales figures.

Whatever may be the case Volvo has left no stones unturned to make their updated hatchback look bolder and muscular. On the exterior the V40 gets the Thor’s hammer lamps which are mostly seen on bigger Volvo cars like the XC90 and the recently launched S90. Volvo has also introduced new colors as well for its exterior. While under the hood there are no noticeable changes which are bit disappointing. So the Volvo V40 is still available in the Indian market with the 2.0 Liter D4 diesel unit makes about 190 Hp of peak power at 4250 rpm and 400 Nm of torque in between 1750 to 2500 rpm, the engine is paired to an automatic gearbox.

Coming to the new commercial which looks equally gorgeous as the new hatchback, in this video you can watch a beautifully lit city at night and then the V40 hatchback makes an entrance. The commercial also highlights the new features of the hatchback beautifully. Watch the commercial and I am sure you will also love the background music too..

OVERVIEW 2015 Volvo V40

2015 Volvo V40

Volvo is counted amongst one of the top premium auto manufacturers internationally but somehow it was not able to leave its mark in the Indian market in comparison to the other German manufacturers like BMW, Mercedes and Audi who has already seen some exciting sales figures recently. Now this is perhaps because of the fact that the Volvo is still is not able to build its image in the Indian market and people love driving or showing off their German premium hatches rather than driving in a Swedish car.

However everything is soon going to change because Volvo has decided to focus more on the Indian market and they have already taken the first step by launching brand new showrooms and discussing their future products which includes launching the updated V40 hatch and their much awaited XC90 SUV which has taken the world by storm.

Volvo has already introduced the V40 Cross Country in India couple of years ago which is a Cross hatchback variant based on their standard V40 5 door hatch unveiled at the 2012, Geneva Motor show targeted towards the small families. Although this is a small car but it is built like a tank and is loaded with some interesting and brand new safety features which is what Volvo is known for right?

There is no doubt in the fact that the V40 surely excels in the safety feature department, but will it be able to provide the same amount of competition to the other premium hatches like the Mercedes A-Class, BMW 1 Series in other fields?

The standard V40 hatch is available with both petrol and diesel engine options but it has been alunched in the Indian market only in its D3 diesel avatar. This is also the same engine which is also available with the V40 Cross Country already. So with that said lets us get into the details of this soon to be launched premium hatchback and find out everything about it.

Update 17.06.15: Volvo Launched the V40 hatchback in India today with prices starting at around INR. 24.75 Lakhs (ex showroom Delhi).

Is it end of the road for the Volvo V40

Is it end of the road for the Volvo V40

Volvo V40 hatch from the Swedish auto giant led other competitors to sit up and take notice. To be precise, the premium hatchback was an attempt to throw a challenge towards the other luxury brands as the car was an excellence in itself. But now rumors say that the company in the near future is going to replace the hatch with new premium small cars. These premium cars are currently being developed with the co-operation of Geely, which happens to be the Chinese brand owner of Volvo.

It is anticipated that the new family of cars will come in the forms of a five door crossover, a hatchback and a sedan; there is also possibility of more models of various shapes and sizes rolling out from their shade. From this venture, Geely which sells a variety of brands in China may simultaneously produce models of the same size. The parent Chinese company and Volvo have collaborated with themselves after considering the collaborations with the other manufacturers. The joint venture boss Mäts Fagerhag, who previously led the negotiations with other manufacturers said that they are in charge of their own destiny.

Both the companies have also set up new engineering joint venture to manufacture their C-segment Modular Architecture (CMA) vehicle family. This venture is also known as the China Euro Vehicle Technology (CEVT) which is situated at their engineering centre in Gothenberg which was opened last year, and has been housed in a different facility from Volvo’s original engineering operations. The company has not revealed the launch year of this project yet but it probably will be launched around the year 2017.

Volvo V40 Cross Country VS BMW X1

Volvo V40 Cross Country VS BMW X1

Today we will be comparing two of the entry level premium SUV’s or you can call them crossovers. The first contender is the premium German car manufacturing brand BMW’s entry level SUV X1 whereas the other is a Swedish premium car manufacturing brand Volvo with their crossover V40 cross Country. Both these vehicles were launched recently in the Indian market and has already drawn huge attention towards them. Another main reason of getting so much attention, beside good looks and their powerful engine are their prices. Both of these vehicles are priced aggressively. The BMW X1 has the proper stance of a SUV whereas the V40 Cross Country from Volvo has the crossover look to it.

The brand BMW is well known to all of us in the Indian market mostly for their luxury saloons whereas the other manufacturer Volvo was not able to make a huge impact in the Indian market yet, untill now, with their latest launch V40 Cross Country they are hoping to sell some volumes of this particular car, afterall this V40 Cross country looks contemporary. So without wasting much more time let’s get to know these vehicles closely and find out who has got more potential, better looks and powerpact performance.

Volvo V40 Cross Country to take on the BMW X1 and Audi Q3. Possible India launch in 2013

Volvo V40 Cross Country to take on the BMW X1 and Audi Q3. Possible India launch in 2013

At the Paris Motor Show Volvo will be unveiling the V40 Cross Country which would compete against theBMW X1 and the Audi Q3. The V40 is an important car for Volvo and was unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and the manufacturer is marketing the V40 as a distinct vehicle to the XC’s. The V40 Cross Country is based on the V40 hatch and compared to the hatch the cross country version gets a higher ride height (increased by 40mm) and bigger wheels. Speaking on behalf of Volvo, Lex Kerssemakers, Senior Vice President Product Strategy & Vehicle Line Management at Volvo Car said, "The new V40 Cross Country is built on the heritage that started with the V70 Cross Country back in 1997. It is designed for those who want a sense of adventure in their everyday life." "And when you want a break from the city, it is capable enough to take you and your gear to your favourite adventure and back. However, you still need to climb the mountain yourself," he further added.

Compared to the V40 the Cross Country version has larger alloy wheels, bumpers are bigger but the manufacturer hasn’t made many changes to the cabin. To give it an outdoor look Volvo has added to the V40 roof-rails, new front and rear bumpers, a rear integrated skid plate and there are also rugged side sills. Styling is definitely one of the strengths of theV40 and the manufacturer has ensured that the car looks modern and sporty because it is targeted at the image conscious customer who likes to venture to the outdoors but spends most of his time in the city. At the front is the wide, honeycomb mesh grille which now is seen on most contemporary Volvo’s and the V40 uses the traditional V-shaped bonnet. The front headlights have LED’s and so do the rear tail lamps and rolling your eye are the creases and curves and the rising smooth shoulder line. The kink at the rear is typical of Volvo.

2014 Volvo V40

2014 Volvo V40

If you talk about premium luxury manufacturers in India then Volvo has been the forgotten child. The manufacturer had their hopes pinned on the S60 sedan which by all means is a fantastic product and there is nothing missing in that sedan. From performance, build quality and styling, the S60 has it all. But the Indian market hasn’t taken to Volvo like how they have accepted brands like Audi and BMW. The Swedish manufacturer suffers from an image problem and the general perception is that when you are spending the same amount for a Volvo, one rather be seen driving a German car. Even after Volvo introduced the cheaper D3 engine variants in theS60, XC60 and S80, sales have been disappointing low. Internationally though Volvo is witnessing a resurgence of sorts and a car which has received great reviews is the Volvo V40 which if launched in India would compete with the soon to be launched Audi A3 and theBMW 1-series. Though it is completely a speculation but if the V40 were to be sold and assembled in India, it would be priced under 20lakhs.
