The first car to be rolled out of the local assembly line will be the XC90

Volvo has recently announced that they will be starting local assembly operation for their cars in India. The Volvo car assembly according to the reports will be located near Bangalore, Karnataka. Believe it or not but the flagship Volvo SUV the XC90 will be the first car to be locally produced in the Indian market. Volvo will also announce the name of other models which will be locally assembled at a later stage. The entire project will be completed by a strategic alliance with Volvo Group India which makes truck, bus and constructional equipment.

Volvo has plans to roll out the first locally made car on the Indian road before the end of this Calendar year. Although they are focussing only on the XC90 as of now, they will later also introduce all the products based on their SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) which will include XC90 and S90. In the future, Volvo might also start local manufacturing procedure of the V90 Cross Country and also the next-gen XC60 compact SUV.

The Volvo official stated that they are euphoric to announce the local assembly unit of their cars which also shows their commitment towards Indian market. They are happy with the way Volvo cars are selling in the Indian market. They also added that they would maintain the International standards and quality even in the locally assembled vehicles. With these efforts, they are pretty sure that they will help create a strong foundation for their business in the Indian market.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR INDIAN CUSTOMERS

If Volvo starts assembling cars in the local market, then it will assist the Swedish Auto manufacturer to price their cars more aggressively and also help them to increase their volume of sales numbers thus giving them a chance to become one of the big players of the game.
