The reports online also stated that the new Polo is bigger than its predecessor and features a new evolutionary design but like you all knew Volkswagen will never interfere with the Polo’s overall DNA and thus kept the hatchbacks distinct identity intact. The hatchback is all set to enter production this month only; this is the sixth generation Polo which underpins Volkswagens new MQB AO platform. You can also expect the hatchback also to get new petrol and diesel engines under its hood. The lightweight platform will automatically translate into much more responsive handling.

Volkswagen launched the new Tiguan in India yesterday, and although this is the first Volkswagen SUV in India and the only one, this is not exactly a fully fledged SUV like the bigger Ford Endeavour or Toyota Fortuner. However, the only reason why we are comparing both these SUV’s is that of the fact the Tiguan is launched with a four-wheel drive as standard and also because both these SUV’s are priced in the same price range.

Volkswagen has launched their first and only SUV Tiguan in India today. This is the second generation SUV which has hit the Indian market priced at INR. 27.98 lakh(ex-showroom, New Delhi) in India. The good thing is that it will be assembled in India at the Auto manufacturers Aurangabad plant, this is the same plant which also assembles some other Volkswagens group’s products like that of the Skoda.
The new Tiguan is based on Volkswagen’s MQB platform which also underpins some other cars like the Skoda Octavia and the Superb and also the Audi A3.The new TIgaun is available in two trims which include the Comfortline and Highline trims. The Tiguan will compete directly with rivals like Hyundai Tucson, Ford Endeavour and also the upcoming Jeep Compass SUV.
The Tiguan was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in India and comes with five seat options.

The rumours of Volkswagen launching the Tiguan SUV in India were doing rounds on the internet for quite some time now. The rumours then turned out to be true when Volkswagen actually listed the Tiguan on their official website. Now Volkswagen officially confirmed that they would be launching their first SUV for the Indian market on 24th May 2017.
The soon to be launched SUV was caught being tested a couple of times on the Indian road while the bookings for the Tiguan has also commenced in some showrooms already. The production of this new SUV has already begun at the Volkswagen Group’s manufacturing facility in Aurangabad. This is actually the same car which was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo after its global premiere at the 2015 Geneva Motor show.
The Tiguan will be sold in the Indian market with five-seat configuration and is based on the Volkswagen’s modular transverse matrix (MQB) platform which is also used by many Volkswagen Group of cars. The SUV at present will be offered with a single diesel engine options. The 2.0 Litre TDI diesel motor churns out about 140 Ps of peak power and 350 NM of torque. The engine will be paired to a seven-speed DSG gearbox which will send power to the four wheels at the same time with the help of 4MOTION four-wheel drive options. However, Volkswagen will also offer a two wheel drive option as well for their base level trims.
Once launched the Tiguan will compete directly with the likes of Ford Endeavour, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Fortuner, etc. and will be priced in the range of 25-30 Lakh rupee mark.

This three door hatchback is unfortunately available in three door variant only and limited just 99 units only for the Indian market as of now. Volkswagen has introduced the diesel variant of the Ameo in India the prices of the diesel variant of the compact sedan starts from INR. 6.33 Lakhs and goes all the way to INR. 9.32 Lakhs for the top end variant.
The reason for launching the diesel variant after few months of the launch of the petrol variant was Volkswagen was working to improve the diesel engine. The new diesel engine has now received some minor jump in its overall power output thanks to the new set of turbochargers.
The 1.5 Litre, 4 cylinder unit now produces about 110 Ps of peak power and 250 Nm of torque. This actually also makes the Ameo the most powerful compact sedan of its segment which is then followed by the Ford Figo Aspire which produces about 100 ps of peak power. The new and more powerful 1.5 Litre unit is paired to a 5 speed manual transmission as standard while there is also an optional 7 speed DSG unit as well on offer. However the automatic transmission is available exclusively with the top two trims only.
If we talk about safety features the Ameo Diesel variant gets cruise control, static cornering lights, ESP and hill hold control (DSG only), rain sensing wipe. Moreover it also gets dual airbags and ABS available as standard with the compact sedan.
On the inside the Ameo gets touchscreen infotainment system with Mirror link system. The rest of the interior looks identical to what you will find in the Petrol variant as well.
Volkswagen Ameo is the first India specific compact sedan from the German auto manufacturer
It has been the talk of the town for quite some time that, Volkswagen is all set to launch their first compact sedan in Indian market. As the compact sedan is one of the most happening segments of Indian automobile market, the most popular German brand in India cannot afford to keep itself away from the race. Therefore Volkswagen is bringing their compact sedan in the fray, which will be christened as the Volkswagen Ameo, as the German automaker has confirmed.
The name “Ameo” is derived from the Latin word “Amo”, which means “I love”. Volkswagen claims, it will be a game changer in the Indian market and this car will come with a package of best in class safety features great build quality and of course a great driving experience. The sub four metre sedan is manufactured on the VW Polo platform. The German automaker has been testing the car at the Chakan plant since long time. Now they have also confirmed that the Volkswagen Ameo will be showcased at the upcoming 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo, the production will be started around middle of the 2016 although. Interestingly, despite having a long Indian model line up, Volkswagen is planning big with the compact sedan in the country. They have earlier announced about investing a total of INR. 1500 crores in the market, while a total of INR. 720 crores were allotted for the compact sedan.
