Force Motors has introduced the updated 2017 Gurkha in India. The new Gurkha has been confronted to meet the BSIV emission norms and is now available with both three and five doors body configuration. The updated SUV is provided with two body variants called Xplorer and Xpedition. The updated Gurkha is not exactly a new generation offering and thus gets minor tweaks to the exterior and interior styling along with the drivetrain.

There is no doubt that the Gurkha has achieved a lot and proved its toughness and durability since its introduction back in 2008. A true contender to the Mahindra Thar Force Motors has tried to retain the offroading genes even in this updated version and made it even more comfortable and upmarket.

We all expected Audi to launch the Q4 SUV by the year 2017, but the launch delayed due to the now infamous Diesel Gate emission scandal. However, Audi is all set to bounce back and has plans not only to rejuvenate their current product lineup but also introduce three battery-electric models by the year 2020 and to electrify new model series after that. To make their plans, successful Audi has already trained 6000 of their employees to work on these electric drivetrains for over the last three years.

Apart from introducing electric vehicles, Audi will also be introducing self-driving cars as well on the road which will be taken care by their newly founded subsidiary, Autonomous Intelligent Driving GmbH in Munich.

The new models which are lined up and almost ready to launch are their most prestigious flagship A8 sedan alongside the new generation Q5 and A5. In the year 2018, Audi also has plans to launch the second generation A7 as well alongside the Q8 SUV.

However, one particular SUV which will also grace Audi’s new lineup is the Q4 Sporty Compact Utility vehicle.

Honda To Launch WR-V Crossover Tomorrow Launches New Teaser: Video

Honda unveiled the Jazz based Crossover the WR-V last year in Brazil, and to everyone’s surprise, the Japanese Automaker actually decided to launch it in the Indian market. Now, that they already sell the Jazz hatchback here the WR-V is based on the same hatch. The WR-V is the smallest Crossover from Honda which will launch in the Indian market and will be positioned above the existing hatchback.

Honda has already started the production of this Crossover at their Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. Hopefully, this new Crossover will be able to bring some sales numbers for the company because apart from the City and the Amaze none of the Honda products was actually able to impress the Indian crowd.

Coming to the WR-V, the Crossover looks exactly like the Jazz hatchback besides few additional changes that we usually witness in a hatchback based Crossover. The front profile gets a restyled headlamp design followed by a new hood and also new bumpers which also gets skid plates. The large front grille also gets a thick looking Chrome bar with the Honda logo in the middle. Towards the side profile, the WR-V also gets sporty looking alloy wheels. The Crossover also gets turn indicators on ORVM’s.

Just like the exterior the interior too gets plenty of new features like a one-touch open and close sunroof, climate control. The WR-V will also get the new 7.0-inch Digipad touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation which is carried over from the City sedan. The infotainment system also gets an internal memory of 1.5 GB and also supports Apple Car Play and Android Auto.

India Bound Jeep Compass SUV Showcased At 2017 Geneva Motor Show

Jeep has showcased their newest SUV the Compass SUV at the ongoing 2017 Geneva Motor show. This will be the cheapest SUV offering from Jeep for the Indian market and reports are that it will be launched in India towards mid-2017 and the good thing is that it will be priced under 20 Lakh rupees as an introductory price.

The lower price tag of the Compass SUV will be possible because Jeep decided to localise most of its parts in India at the FCA’s Ranjangaon plant. The reports state that Jeep will introduce the new Compass in three variants which include Sport, Longitude and Limited variants.

While the Compass takes its styling inspiration from the bigger Grand Cherokee SUV but under the hood, it will most probably get the 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine which produces 165PS of power and 350Nm of torque. The engine will be paired to a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic transmission depending on the trims. Hopefully, to truly bring out the capabilities of the SUV, Jeep will offer it with an all-wheel drive system as well.

If we talk about styling, then Compass gets the muscular appeal but it also receives a boxy design. The front profile gets the signature 7 toothed grille while towards the rear the Compass gets LED elements in the taillamps. The SUV showcased at the Auto show gets black-silver finished alloy wheels. Which definitely looks bold and rugged at the same time. Expect the interior to also be well equipped with all the luxury bits which will include a U connect touchscreen infotainment system positioned in the middle of the dashboard, infact this is the only Jeep SUV which will get an option of 3 different touchscreen infotainment system, it also gets a sunroof as well.

Apart from India the Jeep Compass will also be sold across 100 other Countries across the world.

Renault Duster Oroch Patented In India Could This Mean The Launch Is Near?

According to the earlier reports, Renault was planning to introduce a pickup truck in India, and those rumors now seem to be coming true. Only today Gaadiwaadi has released a patented image of the Duster Oroch Pickup truck. Yes! Duster Oroch is the same vehicle that built for the South American market and was showcased at the Brazil Auto show almost two years ago.

The reports also suggest that Renault has patented the image in India. Now like we all know India has never been a Pickup truck friendly market, but there is obviously some competition that Renault will have to face if they consider launching the Oroch in India. Last year when CEO and MD Mr Sumit Sawhney was asked whether there were any plans to introduce the Pickup Truck for the domestic market his reply was a big No. However, it seems like Renault might change their mind soon.

India already has some lifestyle pickup trucks from the likes of Mahindra and Isuzu. However, the Duster Oroch could create an amount of interest mainly keeping the popularity of the Duster in mind.

We still haven’t yet found out why did Land Rover actually created such a wild production SUV in the form of the Range Rover Sport SVR. I mean SUV’s are built to take on the rough terrains which are not accessible by any other usual four wheeled vehicles and they actually don’t have to be fast only tough enough to take on roads or no roads. But the Range Rover Sport SVR proved us all wrong. This wild beast can not only handle bad terrains but actually can give nightmares to many sportscars with its incredibly fast acceleration.

Just imagine with all the 550 Hp of peak power this heavy SUV can accelerate from 0-100 km/h mark in just 4.7 seconds that is almost equal to the time that the Porsche Cayman 718 takes to reach the three digit speeds. Since its introducing back in 2015 the RR SVR has been setting records. Recently Land Rover tested their wild SUV’s acceleration capability in 6 completely different terrains.

The Range Rovers first test was to take on the Europe’s fastest racing circuit, Rockingham Motor Speedway in Corby, UK. The second test was performed on a much tougher wet grass surface. The third test was performed on gravel surface. The fourth test was performed on Mud and Ruts. The last two terrain tests were performed on Pendine Sands at Carmarthen Bay in South Wales while the final test was not actually dependent on speed but something little different which tested the SUV’s Rock crawl mode.

New Spyshot & Details Emerges Of The Upcoming Long Wheelbase TUV

We have already reported that Mahindra is working on a long wheelbase version of the TUV which will most probably be called TUV500. Recently Autocar India was able to spot the upcoming SUV while it was being tested on the Indian roads. Although the SUV was wrapped in heavy camouflage but the source was able to extract information about the powertrain which will sit underneath the hood of this new upcoming SUV.

The good news is that compared to the TUV300 which has received many negative reviews because of its underpowered engine, the long wheelbase version will be powered by a bigger 1.99 Litre diesel unit. This is the same diesel mill which also powers Scorpio, Xylo as well as the XUV500.

The 1.99 Litre engine is the downsized version of Mahindra’s renowned 2.2 Litre M-Hawk engine. This engine was introduced not so long ago in the Indian market so that they could sell the SUV’s in the markets of Delhi and NCR regions. The engine capacity has been downsized by reducing the engine strokes. Although this is actually a smaller engine compared to the 2.2 Litre unit but it produces more power when compared to the bigger unit.

The XUV500 with the new 1.99 Litre unit produces about 142 Hp of peak power instead of 140 Hp on the bigger 2.2 Litre unit. While the Xylo with the smaller unit now produces about 122 Bhp instead of 120 Bhp with the bigger unit.

Expect the new upcoming TUV500 to also get the same 1.99 Litre engine which will produce around 120 Hp of peak power.
