According to the recent reports Jeep has launched the petrol variant of the Wrangler in India today. The petrol variant of the Wrangler is available only with 5 door, Unlimited body style and has been priced at INR. 56 Lakhs (ex-showroom, India).

Powering the petrol variant is the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 motor which is capable of producing about 258 Hp of peak power and 353 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox which sends power to all the four wheels of the SUV, just like what we have seen on the diesel variant.

The Jeep Wrangler petrol variant pricing will help it compete with some mid-sized luxury SUV’s of the country including the Land Rover Discovery Sport and the Mercedes-Benz GLC.

The Petrol variant of the Wrangler has also received a similar list of equipment and features like the ones seen on the diesel variant. While the exterior gets the rugged feel to it, while the bigger wheels and plenty of offroading hardware help in highlighting its offroading capabilities. What is even more interesting is also the fact that the doors of the SUV can be detached completely from the vehicle if someone is looking for open air freedom.

The interior of the Wrangler, however, gets plenty of interesting premium features. The Wrangler Unlimited gets premium leather covered upholstery, a touchscreen infotainment system with audio input jack. There is also an optional more effective premium Alpine audio system on offer as well. While some other features include heated seats and lockable center console.

Now that Jeep has already started introducing the petrol engines in India expect them to also introduce the Petrol variant of the Grand Cherokee SUV as well which will actually be powered by the same motor. But, the V6 motor will produce 10 Hp of more power and will also get an automatic gearbox instead of the manual unit.

We still haven’t yet found out why did Land Rover actually created such a wild production SUV in the form of the Range Rover Sport SVR. I mean SUV’s are built to take on the rough terrains which are not accessible by any other usual four wheeled vehicles and they actually don’t have to be fast only tough enough to take on roads or no roads. But the Range Rover Sport SVR proved us all wrong. This wild beast can not only handle bad terrains but actually can give nightmares to many sportscars with its incredibly fast acceleration.

Just imagine with all the 550 Hp of peak power this heavy SUV can accelerate from 0-100 km/h mark in just 4.7 seconds that is almost equal to the time that the Porsche Cayman 718 takes to reach the three digit speeds. Since its introducing back in 2015 the RR SVR has been setting records. Recently Land Rover tested their wild SUV’s acceleration capability in 6 completely different terrains.

The Range Rovers first test was to take on the Europe’s fastest racing circuit, Rockingham Motor Speedway in Corby, UK. The second test was performed on a much tougher wet grass surface. The third test was performed on gravel surface. The fourth test was performed on Mud and Ruts. The last two terrain tests were performed on Pendine Sands at Carmarthen Bay in South Wales while the final test was not actually dependent on speed but something little different which tested the SUV’s Rock crawl mode.

New Spyshot & Details Emerges Of The Upcoming Long Wheelbase TUV

We have already reported that Mahindra is working on a long wheelbase version of the TUV which will most probably be called TUV500. Recently Autocar India was able to spot the upcoming SUV while it was being tested on the Indian roads. Although the SUV was wrapped in heavy camouflage but the source was able to extract information about the powertrain which will sit underneath the hood of this new upcoming SUV.

The good news is that compared to the TUV300 which has received many negative reviews because of its underpowered engine, the long wheelbase version will be powered by a bigger 1.99 Litre diesel unit. This is the same diesel mill which also powers Scorpio, Xylo as well as the XUV500.

The 1.99 Litre engine is the downsized version of Mahindra’s renowned 2.2 Litre M-Hawk engine. This engine was introduced not so long ago in the Indian market so that they could sell the SUV’s in the markets of Delhi and NCR regions. The engine capacity has been downsized by reducing the engine strokes. Although this is actually a smaller engine compared to the 2.2 Litre unit but it produces more power when compared to the bigger unit.

The XUV500 with the new 1.99 Litre unit produces about 142 Hp of peak power instead of 140 Hp on the bigger 2.2 Litre unit. While the Xylo with the smaller unit now produces about 122 Bhp instead of 120 Bhp with the bigger unit.

Expect the new upcoming TUV500 to also get the same 1.99 Litre engine which will produce around 120 Hp of peak power.

Renault Unlisted The Koleos SUV & Fluence Sedan From Their Official Website

From what it looks like Renault India has discontinued the Koleos SUV from the Indian market. They have removed the SUV from their Indian official website as well Apart from the SUV it also seems that Renault has also discontinued their D segment sedan Fluence as well because this sedan too has been removed from their official website.

Although Renault hasn’t released any official statement yet but perhaps this was the right move for them. Both the Koleos and the Fluence does not have many takers in the Indian market mainly because of their steep pricing compared to their rivals. Some reports suggests that the manufacturer now wants to shift their focus entirely towards those particular products which has atleast 80 percent localisation and not to those products which are completely knocked down (CKD) and semi-knocked down (SKD) units.

Although the Koleos was assembled in India at the auto manufacturers plant but the kits were imported and as a result of all that the Koleos was actually priced way above its rivals which was the main reason of its low sales figures.

Renault has also plans to launch some new products which will be heavily localized and which also means that the overall prices will be priced quite aggressively.
