The updated hatchback with plenty of exciting new features

Toyota has launched the facelift variant of the Etios Liva hatchback alongside the Etios sedan which now has been christened as the Etios Platinum. This is the midlife facelift that both the cats have received recently. Toyota has also introduced the facelift variant of both these Etios twins in the markets of Brazil as well.

Although there are no mechanical changes made under the hood but both these cars has received significant cosmetic updates. What is even more interesting is also the fact that the Toyota with the introduction of these two models also have made ABS and EBD as standard across all its car range, this hatchback also gets dual airbags as standard.

The Etios Liva hatchback gets both diesel and petrol drivetrain under its hood.

Both the Etios twins has received almost same exterior styling, towards the front profile the hatchback gets a completely new grille while it also sports a new front bumper as well which gets slightly bigger air intakes. This front bumper in particular also gets a new fog lamps housing as well. Nothing much has changed towards the side profile while the lower grades gets 14 inch wheels the top end grades gets slightly bigger 15 inch wheels. Towards the rear it gets a new bumper as well to complete the overall look.

Inside things look less bland thanks to the new duel tone dashboard finished in ivory and grey. The dashboard houses a new optitron speedometer which combines digital Tachometer and analog speedometer with graphic illumination. This instrument cluster provides information about the car at all times irrelevant the cars headlamp switched on or off.

The seats in particular get a new fabric upholstery finished in beige while the rear bench is also foldable which gives more options to carry stuff. The hatchback also promises an impressive boot space at the rear.

Toyota has not made much of a change under the hood of this hatchback and thus it gets the same 1.2 Litre, 4 cylinder, 16V DOGC motor which is capable of producing about 80 Ps of peak power at 5, 600 rpm and 104 Nm of peak torque at 3, 100 rpm. The engine is paired to a 5 speed manual gearbox. The petrol unit promises to return around a claimed mileage figure of 18.16 kmpl.

Like we already mentioned above the Etios Liva hatchback is also offered with a diesel variant as well. The 1.5 Liter, 4 cylinder 8V, D-4D unit is capable of producing about 68 ps of peak power at 3, 800 rpm and 170 Nm of peak torque 1800- 2400 rpm. As you all know the the only transmission option available with both the engine is a 5 speed manual unit. This diesel unit promises to deliver around 23. 59 kmpl.

Toyota has taken care of the safety of the passengers inside and a s a result they actually have loaded the LIva hatchback with ABS and EBD which comes as standard across all its grades. Furthermore the hatch also gets duel front SRS airbags as well. There is also an optional rear parking sensors as well with the car.

The Etios Liva hatchback faces direct competition with the Tata Bolt hatchback. The Bolt was introduced back in 2015 but it didi not actually received the response that Tata though it would receive. Nonetheless the hatchback received a completely new exterior as well as interior styling. Under the hood the hatchback gets the 1.2 litre REVOTRON turbo petrol unit which produces a peak power of 88 bhp and 140 Nm of torque. The diesel variant is powered by 1.2 litre REVOTRON turbo petrol unit which produces a peak power of 88 bhp and 140 Nm of torque. Both the engine gets paired to a 5 speed manual transmission.

There is no doubt that the new Toyotra Liva hatchback definitely has received some worthy upgrades especially if we talk about the safety side. The changes to the exterior have certainly given it a more sporty appeal which definitely will attract much attention, while the refreshed interior too adds a premium touch to the hatchback as well. Although there are no mechanical changes but all those above mentioned changes has made this hatchback worth every penny.
