2017 Toyota Corolla Altis
The Corolla gets some new flavors
The Corolla sedan is definitely one of the most important cars in Toyota lineup and it also has played one major role in the auto manufacturer’s success story. The car which is one sale right now in India as well as some other International markets is the eleventh generation car which is also another proof of its success story.
Recently Toyota has released few information and images of the facelift 2017 Corolla and although there are not any huge changes in its overall styling but the additional features included in the sedan definitely gives it a fresh league of life until Toyota decides to launch the new generation car. The facelift car will go on sale in the International markets within the first quarter of 2017 and it will definitely also make it to the Indian market as well later this year.
The changes were added keeping Corolla’s distinctive and sophisticated character in mind. As expected there were no changes made under the hood and thus the facelift Corolla will continue using the same 1.8 Litre petrol unit and 1.4 Litre diesel unit for the Indian market.

The changes made to the exterior of the car are made keeping in mind the brands "Keen Look" and "Under Priority" design language. The facelift Corolla definitely looks aggressive but also has a touch of sophistication to it which sets it apart from its competition.
Towards the front the Corolla gets a revised front bumper which gets a large air dam at the center while the section housing the fog lamps also looks different. The front grille also has been refurbished and it now gets a single slat grille finished in Chrome. The front bonnet also has re-sculpted to match with the overall front profile. Last but not the least the headlamp unit too looks sharper, the high grade ZR variant which is on sale in some International markets gets a new LED headlamp clusters and also LED daytime running lights (DRLs) as well.
There are attention grabbing changes made to the side profile of the sedan but the door handles does get a touch of chrome on them as well. There are also new choices of 16 and 17 inch alloy wheels wheels as well. Walk towards the rear and you will have to struggle to find the changes here as well, the facelift Corolla’s rear profile does get new LED taillamps cluster (the top end ZR grade sold in the International market also gets adopting LED tail lamps), the chrome strip which jo0ins both the taillamps now appears to be a lot thinner compared to the pre-facelift model.
There are no images released of the interior of the car yet and thus you can expect minimal changes inside the cabin. Don’t get too disappointed because Toyota definitely will add new upholstery for the seats and perhaps a new steering wheel cover as well. Expect some minor changed made to the dashboard and the infotainment system too.
Unfortunately as we already have mentioned above Toyota has not made any changes under the hood of the Corolla facelift and thus the new Corolla Altis will continue using the same 1.8 Litre Dual VVT-I petrol unit capable of producing about 140 ps of peak power and paired to a 6 speed manual gearbox and an optional Super CVT-i with 7 Speed Sequential shiftmatic transmission. This engine is renowned for its low NVH level and exceptionally smooth even in higher power bands.
The diesel engine on the other hand gets the 1.4 Litre D-4D Diesel Engine with variable Nozzle turbo and intercooler, this diesel mill is capable of producing about 88.4 Ps of peak power and is paired to a 6 speed manual gearbox only.
There are no details available at this moment about the pricing but expect the facelift Toyota Corolla Altis to be priced a tad bit higher than the pre-facelift variant.
Skoda Octavia is definitely the worthy competitor to the facelift Toyota Corolla. Available in the Indian market for a long time now the Octavia is a good choice for those who are looking for a comfortable and sophisticated sedan. Under the hood the Octavia gets 1.8 Litre TSI petrol engine capable of producing about 177 Bhp of peak power while the diesel variant gets a 2.0 Litre TDI CR drivetrain which is capable of producing about 150 Bhp of peak power.
The Toyota Corolla Altis although have not received any major cosmetic upgrades but the changes are well deserved and it helps keep the original appeal of the Corolla alive. Although there are no changes under its hood but the drivetrain are capable of doing justice to the Corolla..
We will definitely update you with all the details as soon as the sedan is launched in both the International as well as Indian market.

TOYOTA PREVIEWS UPGRADED COROLLA SEDAN
Toyota has released preview images and high-level detail on an upgraded version of the Corolla sedan, scheduled for local launch in the first quarter of 2017.
Reflecting the distinctive and sophisticated character of the brand’s "Keen Look" and "Under Priority" design language, its revised exterior features a new bumper with a small, reshaped grille above it and large lower grille below.
The high-grade ZR will be equipped with new LED headlamp clusters, including LED daytime running lights (DRLs), with all variants adopting LED tail lamps.
The door handles on the ZR receive a new chrome trim finish, which enhances the character line running from the front to the rear of the vehicle, while a chrome garnish across the rear emphasises the compact sedan’s wide stance.
New safety technology including Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane Departure Alert (LDA) plus Automatic High Beam (AHB) will be offered as standard equipment on ZR, and as options on Ascent and SX models.
By processing information provided by a compact, windscreen-mounted head unit, housing a laser and camera, these systems help prevent or mitigate collisions across a wide range of traffic situations*.
Toyota executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said the revised sedan will further boost the appeal and value of Australia’s best-selling car.
"Close to a quarter of all Corollas sold in Australia last year were sedans, and the advanced design and new technology offered in this upgrade is further proof of Toyota’s commitment to ’Kaizen’, the process of continuous improvement," Mr Cramb said.
