2013 Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo
Toyota Fortuner is a mighty SUV from Toyota which has been here in the Indian market for quite some time now, but an updated version of the Fortuner was recently launched mated with a 5-speed automatic transmission gearbox for an enhanced driving experience. The SUV aerodynamic design will definitely attract everyone’s attention, beside the good looks it also has a massive road presence. Earlier Fortuner came mated with a 4-speed automatic transmission but now it has a 5 speed automatic.
The Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo is powered by a 3.0L, D-4D Diesel Common Rail Type Fuel Injection engine with intercooler turbochargers which is capable of producing a maximum power of 171Ps at 3600rpm and a maximum torque of 343Nm at 1400-3400rpm. The Fortuner also has been packed with a lot of safety features which makes the SUV one of the safest vehicles, the Fortuner TRD Sportivo is definitely a vehicle for the SUV enthusiast because it has been packed with power and also comes with the added comfort and luxury.
Design and Interior
Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo has been built following an aerodynamic design so that the SUV looks very sporty as well muscular and appeals to its customers. In the front, the Fortuner has the chrome plated radiator grille with the signature Toyota logo. The clear lens headlamps come integrated with turn indicators and the aerodynamically designed front bumper houses the spherical fog lamps. On its sides Fortuner have the body colored door handles and outside rear view mirrors with turn indicators integrated in them. The SUV also has roof rails which make the SUV look more muscular. Coming to its rear, the SUV has the transparent looking appealing tail lamps, aerodynamic rear roof spoiler and the elegantly designed logo of TRD Sportivo which completes the overall look of the SUV.

As one step inside this mighty SUV, they will find that the color of the dash is black and they are some wooden elements fitted in it which gives it some upmaket appeal; the lower half of the dashboard has been finished in beige. The steering wheel of the Fortuner has been borrowed from the Camry which looks trendy as it has audio controls integrated in it which comes in handy during long drives. There are cruise control, 2 Din touch screen music system, a rear camera with digital display, power window, assist grip A-pillar, dual auto AC etc fitted in the dashboard. Coming to the seating position and the seats inside the SUV, it has a seating capacity for seven people and the seats are pretty comfortable too, the driver’s seat is cushioned and has a good amount of under thigh support. The rear seats offers ample of room for adults though the third row shall suit best to the kids. There is also enough storage space at the rear in this mighty SUV.
Overall the SUV has good amount of interior space, the seats are quite comfortable and there is good amount of head as well as leg room inside the vehicle. The rear seats though may not be comfortable for taller person and the overall fit and finish quality in the interior of the SUV is impressive.
Toyota has a 3.0L, D-4D Diesel Common Rail Type Fuel Injection engine with intercooler turbochargers under Fortuner’s hood which is capable of producing a maximum power of 171Ps @ 3600rpm and a maximum torque of 343Nm @ 1400-3400rpm. The intercooled turbocharger forces the cooled air into the engine so that the performance of the engine remains constant. Further the updated Fortuner now has the 2WD with 5-speed Automatic transmission along with cruise control which reduces the effort of the driver.
The Fortuner also comes with an all-terrain capability that enables it to overcome any terrain smoothly and comfortably. The engine is quite smooth and responsive and because of the all new 5 speed transmission the gear ratios and the power delivery is sufficient.
Ride and Handling
Toyota Fortuner has been provided with ventilated disc brakes at the front which is efficient enough in bringing the SUV to a halt, it has also been fitted with the double wishbone at the front with a high mount type upper arm that provides an excellent driving comfort, the 4-link suspension system at the rear with lateral control rod provides the better balanced ride.

The new Ford Endeavour is powered by a two 16-valve TDCi engines. The 2.5-liter DuraTorq TDCi common-rail engine produces 143PS and delivers a peak torque of 330 Nm at 1800 rpm. While the bigger 3-liter TDCi produces 156PS and 380 Nm of torque at 2500 rpm. Though the power output is lower than the Toyota Fortuner but still the massive road presence and the all terrain capability makes it a worthy competitor to the Fortuner.
With the newly added 5-speed automatic gearbox in Fortuner, the SUV has become more responsive than before. The braking system that has been provided in the Fortuner increases the confidence of the driver. The four wheel drive system of the Fortuner makes it a light vehicle which delivers an impressive performance on the city roads especially in the traffic. The Toyota Fortuner, the segment leader, was launched on August 24, 2009 and since then has sold more than 41,000 units.
