This could be the next generation Maruti Gypsy
Rumours suggest that Maruti might reintroduce the Gypsy in the Indian market in the coming years. According to the latest reports Suzuki might manufacture the next generation Jimny in India. The Jimny was showcased last time at the 2012 Auto Expo and it received quite a positive response from the people. Although there is not much depth in the possibilities right now but the next generation Jimny perhaps might be sold in India as the next generation Gypsy.
For all your information the Gypsy was the long wheelbase version of the Gymny compact SUV. Some of the reports also suggests that the next generation compact SUV will actually be built on the same lightweight platform which also underpins the current Baleno and the Ignis Crossover and hatchback. The next generation SUV will also be exported onto some other International markets from India as well.

There are absolutely no details available at this moment about this upcoming SUV but the reports all lead to one direction that the new generation Gymny which most likely will be sold under the Gypsy Moniker in India will actually be a compact SUV. The next generation Gypsy will be a sub 4 meter SUV which will definitely enjoy the excise benefits. But this will be a lot less hardcore looking SUV compared to its predecessor but definitely will get plenty of interesting styling updates. However Maruti Suzuki will definitely add some bold styling to it which will give it a little tough styling.
There are no details of the interior available at this moment but expect it to get some modern equipment and amenities inside. Expect it to get a completely new dashboard which will perhaps house a completely new touchscreen infotainment system. The rest of the equipment list might include an automatic climate control, ambient lighting system, cooled glovebox and many more available with the top end variants.
The next generation Jimny could get the 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine which is not only fuel efficient but is also powerful at the same time. This is the same unit which will power the Baleno RS variant as well. However it will also gets a slightly more powerful engine as well. The diesel variant on the other hsndf will most likely get the 1.3 Litre unit which power some of the current Maruti cars like the Baleno, Swift or the soon to be launched Ignis Compact Crossover.
Expect the new drivetrain to return an impressive fuel efficiency of around 23 kmpl.
PRICES AND EXPECTED LAUNCH DATE
As far as the pricing is concerned expect the new generation Maruti Gypsy to be priced in between 5.5 to 8 Lakh rupees. Although no details of the launch date are available at this moment however expect the new compact SUV to launch in the Indian market towards the end of 2018.
