2018 Suzuki Swift Sport
The Suzuki Swift Sport is an attractive performance hatchback which is already on sale in many parts of the world. We can call ourselves little unlucky because Maruti has decided not to launch the sportier variant of the Swift yet because performance hatchbacks were not popular in the Indian market. However, that is all going to change soon, according to the recent reports, there is a huge possibility that Maruti will be introducing the new generation Swift Sport in India keeping in mind the fact that hot hatchbacks are now finding places in the garages of many young Indian customers who want slightly powerful hatchbacks.
We already have many popular performance hatchbacks introduced in India recently by few favourite Auto manufacturers including Fiat and Volkswagen. Even Maruti too launched the Baleno RS which is their iteration of performance hatchback based on the Baleno.
Recently Suzuki has released a teaser video of their soon to be launched new generation Swift Sport hatchback which is based on the current generation Swift that was launched recently in the International markets. The new generation Swift hatchback like we all know will be launched in India towards early 2018 while the Swift based sedan is already available for sale in the Indian market. Suzuki will be showcasing the new Swift Sport at the upcoming 2017 Frankfurt Motor show. Although we are not sure at this moment, there is a high possibility that Suzuki might showcase the new Swift Sport alongside the new generation Swift hatchback at the 2018 Auto Expo.
So now that we have little information about the upcoming 2018 Swift Sport hatchback clicks past jump to read about the performance hatchback.
2018 Suzuki Gymny/ Maruti Gypsy
Rumours suggest that Maruti might reintroduce the Gypsy in the Indian market in the coming years. According to the latest reports Suzuki might manufacture the next generation Jimny in India. The Jimny was showcased last time at the 2012 Auto Expo and it received quite a positive response from the people. Although there is not much depth in the possibilities right now but the next generation Jimny perhaps might be sold in India as the next generation Gypsy.
For all your information the Gypsy was the long wheelbase version of the Gymny compact SUV. Some of the reports also suggests that the next generation compact SUV will actually be built on the same lightweight platform which also underpins the current Baleno and the Ignis Crossover and hatchback. The next generation SUV will also be exported onto some other International markets from India as well.

Suzuki Ignis & India Made Baleno Gets Nominated For 2017 World Car Of The Year Award (WCOTY)
According to the latest reports both the Suzuki Ignis as well as the Baleno has been nominated for the 2017 World Car of the Year award in the new ‘Urban Car’ category. Now the particular reason why we are interested in this news is because of two reasons. The first one is keeping in mind the fact that the Baleno is already sold in the Indian market while the Ignis will be launched in between the time period of January-March 2017. While the second one being the fact that India is actually the production hub for both these cars.
The Suzuki Baleno is currently already being produced as well as exported from Maruti Suzuki’s production plants located both in Manesar and Gurgaon. Apart from the Baleno Maruti Suzuki will also start producing and also export the Ignis Crossover at their newest facility in Gujarat which has been prepped up to work on the new platform.
Coming to the new Urban car category, the criteria which the contenders will have to match to be nominated for the WCOTY award are each and every vehicle should have to be less than 4 metres in overall length, the car will have to be on sale in the two continents by spring 2017.
Now both the Baleno as well as the Ignis measures less than 4 metres in length. The Baleno is already on sale in the markets of Japan and also Europe while the Ignis Crossover is already on sale in the markets of Japan and will also be on sale in some other markets as well.
Both the Baleno as well as the Ignis will compete with six different cars in this particular category.

The 44th Tokyo Motor Show is here and which means plenty of new cars from different Auto manufacturer will be showcased at this particular auto show. Suzuki has unveiled their Ignis compact Crossover at the Auto show along with few other models.
This Compact Crossover is the production variant of the IM-4 concept showcased at the Geneva Motor Show along with the IK-2 concept which later was launched in the form of Baleno hatchback. The Suzuki Ignis production variant looks almost identical to the concept minus some bling.
Talk about styling and the Ignis surely looks typical Japanese, the front profile gets encapsulated headlamps which come with projector units while the concept variant was equipped with LED lamps. The front grille is definitely a lot larger which helps in giving the front a striking appearance. The lower front bumper gets round fog lamps. Towards the side profile the Ignis gets pronounced wheel arches as well while it looks like that it has been fitted with bigger 18 inch stylish wheels. The A and B pillars towards the side profile has also been blacked out to get the premium appearance. Towards the C-pillar it gets a typical styling which comes in the form of three slat vents.
Inside the new Ignis gets a huge touchscreen system placed towards the centre of the dashboard which will most probable also get the Apple carplay which was made available with the new Baleno hatchback as well. Just like the new Baleno the Suzuki Ignis will also be launched as a global model.
Remember the IM-4 concept which was first showcased at the Geneva Motor Show? This was Suzuki’s attempt at the compact Crossover segment. This concept was definitely not a rugged looking one but was actually more of an Urban Crossover. Recently Suzuki announced that they will be unveiling the IM—4 Crossover’s production ready variant and it has been christened as IGNIS.
Although nothing much has been revealed yet about this compact Crossover but this particular vehicle will help the Japanese auto manufacturer to foray into the competitive compact SUV space. If we talk about styling then definitely Suzuki has not made any major change to the exterior of this Crossover and thus this production ready model looks identical to the concept.
The IGNIS has been fitted with a large mesh grille towards the front with the Suzuki logo in the middle; the squarish appearing headlamps are wrapped around with the grille and looks like a single unit which definitely looks impressive. The short front bonnet is followed by a huge windshield which will definitely help the drivers to get a commanding view of the road ahead. Towards the side profile both the A and B Pillars are blacked out which gives it a premium appeal. The Crossover further also gets stylish looking alloy wheels as well.
According to Suzuki the IGNIS promises to bridge the gap between daily life and leisure life. What makes it a practical Crossover is the fact that it comes with an impressive ground clearance which will help it take on any terrain with ease. The IGNIS also gets a practical interior as well.
Suzuki first unveiled the iM-4 crossover concept at the Geneva Motor show held in March 2015. We already mentioned in our first impression of the Crossover that, in the beginning we thought this might act as the replacement for the Japanese auto makers ageing Jimmy Crossover. But that is actually not the case, this car will be sold alongside Jimmy and will enlist its name in the long small car list that comes out of Suzuki’s stable.
Recently alVolante was able to find some leaked patent image of what it seem to be possible production variant of the iM-4 SUV. In comparison to the concept model this car looks less aggressive and more practical and suitable for road use. This will be a sub-4 meter Crossover but comes with an increased ground clearance. However the rest of the styling of this patent clearly shows that even the production version of the car will not be much different from the concept car.
As far as its design is concerned the Suzuki iM-4 production variant also gets lots of rounded lines not only towards its front profiles but across its exterior. From the patent images of the production spec variant we can also notice that this compact Crossover will most probably also get conventional headlamps instead of the all LED unit as seen on the concept. The front bumpers look a little less aggressive although it gets round fog lamps. The side profile has been fitted with smaller wheels while the ORVM’s gets integrated turn signals. What is interesting fact about the production variant is the design of the C-Pillar which looks unique. If you take a closer look you will also find a roof mounted spoiler towards the rear of the Car.
The iK2 concept was showcased for the first time at the 2015 Geneva Motor show, now it will be revealed infront of the public at the upcoming 2015, Frankfurt motor show which will be held in the month of September in its full production form. The car is also christened as the Baleno and Suzuki also revealed the first teaser image and video of their newest hatchback.
This is the same name which has been codenamed as YRA and will be sold in the Indian market. The hatchback will be positioned above the Swift hatchback both in the Indian market as well as in the International market. But we doubt that the Indian spec hatchback won’t be called Baleno. Many of you might remember the Baleno sedan which was sold in the Indian market and was replaced by its successor SX4 later.
Under the hood expect the Baleno to carry Suzuki’s brand new Boosterjet turbo petrol engine which will also be made available under the hood of the Indian spec hatchback. We have seen the YRA being tested on the Indian roads number of time and thus we also expect it to be showcased at the upcoming 2016 Auto expo held in Delhi in the month of February. The Auto manufacturer also has plans to launch a brand new compact Crossover built on the same platform in the coming years.
The Crossover and the SUV market surely has became equally popular in the International as well as in the Indian market and although Suzuki never actually had their presence deeply felt in this segment apart from their only popular product Jimmy but understanding the potential in the segment Suzuki decided to take another shot. But as the time passes the Jimmy is really getting old so Suzuki decided to introduce a new concept called IM-4 which is actually a sub-4m SUV.
Just like their IK-2 concept hatchback the IM-4 sub 4 meter compact SUV too looks almost production ready. The IM-4 concept definitely is not at all rugged but looks more like an urban Crossover which perhaps is the newest styling trend of almost all the compact SUV’s available in the market right now.

Suzuki showcased the IK-2 concept alongside the IM-4 Crossover concept at the 85th Geneva International Motor show, the IK-2 Concept definitely looks almost production ready and much more identical to the new YRA premium hatch which was caught being tested number of occasions wrapped in heavy camouflage and which will be positioned above the Swift that is already on sale in some of the International as well as Indian markets.
Suzuki has topped the levels in terms of size, design, utility, comfort, maneuverability, driving performance and fuel efficiency which are the necessary elements we try to find in a compact hatchback and is built around the theme of “Harmonised Force.” The Asian version of this concept car will be sold by Maruti in the Indian market and will get the tag of premium hatchback and will compete against the likes of the i20, Volkswagen Polo etc .

Perhaps the only place to catch a glimpse of some interesting new cars are the Motor Show’s and every other auto manufacturer brings something new infront of the people to catch the consumers and visitors attention. This year at the 2014 Paris Motor show Suzuki too took the covers of the Vitara compact SUV which is the production version of the iV-4 concept.
According to Suzuki the Vitara has evolved in every possible field be it driving, safety, environmental performances or design. This new compact SUV according to the Japanese auto manufacturer has taken its inspiration from Jimmy, Vitara and Grand Vitara. Now this modern looking urban SUV has been manufactured not only to attract the Vitara fans but also other SUV fans across the globe and Suzuki is extremely excited about their new compact SUV.
This newly unveiled compact SUV is about 4175 mm in length and 1755 mm in width while the overall height of the compact SUV is about 1610 mm, now because it has an impressive wheelbase of 2500 mm there is enough space in the interior of the SUV. Powering this new compact SUV will be a 1.6 Liter Petrol engine which will produce about 120 hp of peak power and around 158 Nm of peak torque while the 1.6 Liter diesel engine codenamed D16AA will produce the same amount of power but around 320 Nm of torque. The 1.6 liter petrol engine will be mated to a 5 speed manual transmission but it will also have an option of a 6 speed automatic transmission while the diesel engine will only be mated to a 6 speed manual transmission but it won’t get any automatic transmission. The popular Suzuki ALLGRIP all-wheel drive system will be available as an optional extra with this SUV.
This car seriously needs no introduction it’s been one of the most popular hatches not only just in our India but across the World. The Swift has once again surprised everybody by achieving this new feat, Suzuki just announced that their compact car Suzuki has just reached cumulative worldwide sales of four million units in August 2014.
The Swift was first introduced in the year 2004 and it just took nine years and nine months for this hatchback to reach the record sales number. The Swift is also a popular model not only in Japan where it first went on sale but also in India, China and Hungary. The Swift received its first update in the year 2010. It has particularly achieved huge popularity in India, the Swift is available with a 1.2-liter four-cylinder K-Series petrol engine and a 1.3-liter diesel engine both these engines are mated to a 5 speed manual transmissions.
The Swift has also won many awards in International markets including the car of the year award in Japan. The Swift currently is produced in eight Countries worldwide and is sold in more than 140 countries and regions around the World. It is also available with a more powerful 1.6 Liter engine outside India.
Suzuki has released an official image of their new crossover Vitara along with a teaser video of this new vehicle which will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, starting from 2nd October, 2014. The Grand Vitara SUV has been here in the Indian market for a long time now but the truth is it never was a hit in the Indian market mainly because Suzuki always had a reputation of making small cars while the Vitara was actually a SUV which was meant for both on and off road. While the second reason for not being popular was perhaps that it is an expensive vehicle and we also do agree with it that the Grand Vitara with manual transmission is priced at Rs. 22, 68064 (EX showroom Delhi) while the same SUV with automatic transmission has been priced at Rs. 24, 60529 (EX showroom Delhi). Now that’s a lot of money considering the fact that you have lot of other options in your hand.
But this Crossover is completely a different vehicle and is based on the Suzuki iV-4 Concept model which was first showcased at the 2013, Frankfurt motor show. Suzuki has just release the first official image and honestly the newly designed crossover looks extremely attractive and we are here to give you a brief idea of what the new Suzuki Vitara is all about.

Suzuki is looking for alternate technologies to boost fuel efficiency of their cars. Suzuki Motor Corp said they will introduce a simplified gas-electric hybrid technology in their cars; their aim is to offer efficient options to its customers at an affordable price.
According to the manufacturer, demand for fuel efficient cars is growing not just in the emerging markets but also in Europe, Asia and Japan as well. Suzuki also builds cars with kinetic energy recovering systems that use regenerative braking to charge lithium-ion batteries. Unlike traditional hybrids, the battery only powers the air-conditioning system.
The new system will use this energy to accelerate the car as well. Suzuki is developing sophisticated hybrid systems for small, city cars. The gas-hybrid setup has to be both simple and inexpensive to be fitted into compact cars. The new system will be first introduced on small cars in Japan, followed by Europe.
Suzuki has a huge presence in India under the brand name Maruti Suzuki. They are India’s largest car manufacturers and have a long history of making affordable, reliable and economical products tailor made for Indian buyers.
It’s been a while since Maruti-Suzuki brought something new to the table. So far, they’ve been simply phasing out updates and facelifts for its entire range. Most people will disagree, saying that the Maruti-Suzuki Stingray is a brand new car. To us, it looks like an angular, flashy version of the Wagon-R. Not something that we’d consider "brand new".
Well, now we can expect new from their stable. Suzuki has previewed a concept called the A-Wind, that is considered as a precursor to a something new from Suzuki. We don’t know whether it’ll all-together be another hatch or a face-lift that will seek inspiration from the concept. We do have our bets placed on the former.
Suzuki has also released some technical details of the concept. It measures at 3600mm long, 1600mm wide and 1540mm high with a 2425mm long wheelbase. Powertrain includes 1.0-liter 3-cylinder motor coupled to a CVT gearbox, that was seen in many other concepts at the Tokyo Motor Show, also makes its way into the concept hatch. Expect its production spec model to break cover at the 2014 Auto Expo in New Delhi.
