Same hatchback with a powerful 1.0 Litre engine and an affordable pricing
Datsun introduced the Redi-GO last year but unfortunately was not able to attract a lot of attention either because of its compact dimensions or lack of features or perhaps an underpowered engine. Although Datsun might not have addressed the first two issues, they took care of the third and probably the most important issue.Datsun Has decided to add a bigger engine under the hood of their entry level offering.
The redi-Go was the first model that was introduced after the Renault-Nissan alliance’s CMF-A flexible platform which is the same platform that also underpins the Renault KWID as well. The hatchback even uses the same 799cc, a three-cylinder engine which also powers the Renault KWID. The slightly more powerful Redi-Go 1.0 Litre unit is also the same engine which has been borrowed from the Renault KWID, while Renault calls it SCe (Smart Control Efficiency), Datsun has decided to go with i-SAT name.
Jerome Saigot, vice president, Datsun India, added, "Datsun is focused on offering accessible and high-value-for-money cars for aspirational "young India." The Datsun redi-GO 1.0L is the latest example of our brand’s core strengths, and we will continue to enhance the Datsun model line-up in line with our customers’ expectations."
Datsun launched the redi-Go 1.0 Litre in India and for those customers who want to get their hands on the more powerful redi-Go variant can go to any Nissan dealerships and can book theirs.

As a consequence of this, the prices of smaller cars in the bracket of Alto to Ford Figo has witnessed a tax drop of few thousand rupees. According to the new GST structure, people will now have to pay 29 percent instead of the 31 percent tax that was demanded earlier on smaller cars. Besides that, the rate of mid-size cars has also gone down as well because they also significantly have also witnessed a drop in tax of 3.6 percent. The Redi-Go is the joint venture effort of Renault and Nissan which was not quite successful mainly because of the hatchbacks compact dimension which resulted in an insufficient interior room. The Redi-Go, when launched, was priced at INR. 2.39 Lakhs ex-showroom making it even more affordable than the Alto 800.
Now according to the recent reports, Datsun is all set to launch a slightly more powerful variant of the Redi-Go hatchback. Now installing a slightly more powerful engine and an AMT will be enough to make the Datsun Redi-Go hatchback a reliable entry level car? Well, we try to find out answers to all your questions.

well the Brazilian spec KWID definitely looks well equipped find out what is different
Renault launched the KWID back in 2015, and this was their first attempt to make their mark in the entry level car segment of India. After the KWID’s launch, its aggressive pricing and the features that it offered in an entry-level hatchback made the car an instant hit. The KWID even bite into the sales shares of some other entry level products from renowned manufacturers like Maruti and Hyundai. The Indian customers appreciated everything about the car till Global NCAP crash tested the compact entry-level hatchbacks to measure the safety standards that they offered to the occupants inside. To our surprise and shock, the KWID failed the safety standard test horribly. The fate of the KWID at the crash test was similar to some other entry level cars like the Maruti Alto800 and Hyundai Eon.
Renault then assured the Indian buyers that they have reworked on the structure of the hatchback and launched the updated car. Later when the KWID has tested again, it managed to score 1-star safety rating. The reports stated that Renault although took steps in reinforcing the structure but they have made changes only to the driver side where as the passenger side structure was left untouched.
Now Renault has recently launched the KWID hatchback in the markets of Brazil, and it comes with plenty of upgraded equipment as well as cosmetic updates as well. Below we have provided all the difference between the Indian spec KWID and the Brazilian-spec KWID find out which one offers better equipment and safety features at the price point.
Will most probably get few cosmetic updates to the exterior and a new set of alloy wheels
A pre-production test mule of the upcoming 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 facelift was recently spotted caught being tested in India. The test mule was covered in heavy camouflage but what caught everyone’s attention was the new set of fancy alloy wheels. The design of the new alloy wheels looked identical to that of the Mercedes CLA Sport’s 17-inch 5-spoke unit.
The test mule was covered in heavy camouflage, but the facelift i20 apparently will continue with the same fluidic design language of the current generation hatchback. The premium hatchback will continue with the same hexagonal shaped grille towards the front with chrome slats. However, we do feel that the facelift variants front bumper will be tweaked while it will most probably also gets a redesigned headlamps as well. We will be happy if Hyundai launches the facelift variant of the hatchback equipped with a fancy set of alloy wheels. Towards the rear expect the hatchback also to get a redesigned rear bumper and taillamps. Although the test mule was covered and the interiors were not visible expect it to get an updated seat upholstery and a multi-information display in between the twin instrument cluster pods and a new touchscreen infotainment system as standard across all its variants.
The car has scored fairly in terms of overall safety standard but will it get the same safety features for Indian market
The crash test results of the India-bound Renault Captur (Kaptur) are out, and quite honestly it scored pretty well in the overall crash test conducted by Latin NCAP. The Renault 5 door SUV was able to score 4 out of 5 stars for adult safety and 3 out of 5 stars for Child Safety.
The version that was tested was equipped with four airbags, electronic stability control, Isofix system for securing child seats in the back seat and seat belts with pretensioners. During the time of frontal impact, the Captur offered adequate protection to the driver and front passenger neck area. The chest protection of the driver was marginal while the passenger was good. Both the front passenger’s knees were also safe. The driver tibias showed adequate protection while the passengers showed good protection. The bodyshell of the SUV was also rated stable during the side impact. The side head-thorax airbag was offered good protection to the adult to the head, abdomen and pelvis area.
As far as the child safety of the SUV is concerned the child seat for the 3year-old child was not able to prevent forward movement during the frontal impact. However, the during side impact both the child dummies were well protected. The Captur also offers a 3 point belts in all seating positions as standard, and all of them met international technical standards. Thus like we already mentioned above the SUV was able to score 3 stars concerning Child safety standard.
