Skoda India has announced that their next big thing for the Indian market will be the compact SUV Kamiq. This will be launched in early 2020 and will be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo here in Greater Noida. Skoda Kamiq India pricing should be in the Rs 15-20 lakh bracket.

This all-new SUV will lock horns with other models like the Hyundai Creta and the Tata Harrier. This model will be developed from the ground up. Based on Skoda’s Vision-X concept, the Kamiq keeps up with the tradition of naming their SUV products from the letter “K”, the all-new SUV is known the Kamiq. It will soon join the SUV line of the Skoda that already consists of the Kodiaq and the Karoq.

Skoda Komiq India Specs

Skoda Kamiq India specs will be different than the international model, but just slightly. In addition to the conventional petrol engines, Skoda will also offer the Kamiq with a CNG option. This will feature a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 131hp and 250Nm of torque. The engine gets two electric motors: a belt-driven starter-generator that also powers the front axle, with a second 27hp electric motor on the rear axle. That motor offers 70Nm of torque from standstill, although the use of a gearbox allows it to bring 99Nm to the road.

When launched, it will rival the VW T-Cross as well. The Kamiq will get the low-cost MQB-A0 platform that is being developed for the developing markets like India. Skoda Kamiq India innings will surely help the Czech maker in gaining traction in this country once again
