The newest kid in the Mercedes-AMG India stable
Only yesterday Mercedes-Benz India launched the all new SLC 43 in India which happens to be the AMG variant of the SLC Roadster. The SLC is the facelift variant of the SLK class and is a part of the new Mercedes Nomenclature. What is more surprising is also the fact that Mercedes introduced the SLK 43 just after 4 months of its International debut. This actually also is the first product which was launched with a new two digit nomenclature.
Now apart from the new name the Mercedes SLC also gets a revamped exterior as well as interior. Gone are those boring styling, the new Roadster gets Mercedes families new face while the AMG touches has made it more appealing. However the biggest change that you will find is under the hood, the SLK’s bigger V8 naturally aspirated engine is now replaced by a much smaller 3.0 Liter V6 bit-turbo unit. So now the big question is that has it affected the performance of this new roadster which claims to be a part of the prestigious AMG family which is popular amongst the crowd for its performance.

The Coupe even looks wilder without its roof
After almost a year Lamborghini launched the Huracan LP610-4 they introduced the Spyder variant as well at the 2015 Geneva Motor show. The Huracan was brought to replace the iconic Gallardo and thus its successor had a humongous task to live up to its predecessors name and thanks to the brilliant engineering package, it was. The car was so good that it was even faster than its bigger and more powerful brother, the mighty Aventador.
When Lamborghini launched the Gallardo back in 2003, a few people said that it is not how a Lamborghini should be. It was not mad enough. But all this changed when the convertible came out in 2006 and this kept many people happy. The spyder changed the character of the supercar completely and it was just mad. Just imagine you drive the same machine with that roaring engine just behind your seat and with the roof off.
Just like what have seen with the Gallardo Lamborghini launched the coupe first then came the Spyder variant. With the Huracan Lamborghini repeated the history again, they launched the Coupe variant first and then decided to launch the soft top Spyder variant of the same coupe later. Just like we all would have expected the Spyder variant looked dead gorgeous without its roof but at the back it still carried the same naturally aspirated 5.2 Liter V10 unit which is one beast of an engine.
Update 05.05.2016:- Lamborghini launched the Huracan LP 610-4 Spyder in India today. T^he prices and details has been provided below

The R8 is no doubt one of the most beloved sportscars since the day it made its debut back in the year 2007. If you ask why people love this sportscar then most of them will answer because of its styling and that smooth sweet revving engine positioned behind the driver. The Spyder variant of the first generation R8 was introduced almost after 2 years of the coupe variant, what actually made the R8 Spyder unique was that it first made its appearance in the Hollywood Movie ‘Iron man’ and in the movie it was driven by Tony Stark. Later it was formally introduced at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor show.
Now that the first generation R8 Spyder already has been in the market for 6-7 years, it was time to welcome the second generation Spyder. Now Audi already has launched the second generation R8 Coupe last year, although even before the Audi introduced the second generation car our spy photographers was able to click some close shots of the new generation R8 Spyder while it was being tested and the interesting part was that it was actually not camouflaged. So we gave you the first glimpse of the car before it actually was introduced infront of the public at the 2016 New York Auto Show.
Now that the details of the Audi R8 Spyder are out we can certainly inform you about the details. The Audi R8 Spyder shares the same drivetrain with that of the Coupe, this engine is paired to an automatic gearbox which actually will send power to all the four wheels via the Quattro all wheel drive system that actually makes the R8 Spyder and all season sporstcar. However the sad part is that it will not get the six speed manual transmission anymore.
In this article we have tried to provide you with all the information which is available at this moment about the Audi R8 Spyder. The R8 Spyder will most probably be launched towards the end of this year or the beginning of 2017.

If you talk about hybrid powertrains, people will readily tell you hybrid cars are not fast enough, not beautiful. Well, that might be true in some cases, but not entirely. However, this decade has been the decade of hybrids. Plenty of hybrid cars have made their appearance in front of us. Porsche being one of the famed sports car makers also tried their hand in the hybrid segment. They made some beautiful vehicles which are not only beautiful and faster, but also powered by hybrid drivetrain.

Mercedes Benz SLK Class is a compact luxury roadster launched in 1997 for the first time after the German auto giant unveiled it in 1996. The car was a symbol of sheer luxury blended with pure elegance and eye popping technologies offering the charm of open air driving.
SLK was first showcased as SLK II concept at the 1994 Paris Motor Show. The Vario roof was the main attraction of the car. It became immensely popular very soon. Well, there is no shame in accepting that, we all like the breeze to comb through our hairs. Yes, Mercedes SLK was offering exactly that kind of exuberating driving experience to us. Initially, it was a very popular car, therefore giving Mercedes a whooping sales figure. Although lately the sales figure dropped, and Mercedes started thinking about bringing an all new car which would bear the same legacy. And, here comes the new Mercedes Benz SLC. The newest model from the German automaker’s stable.
Recently Mercedes has unveiled the new SLC, which will be arriving in the showrooms around mid 2016. Good news for us Indians that Mercedes will sell the SLC in this country too, considering the growing popularity and demand for luxury sporty cars. The renamed version of SLK bears many design cues from the old car which is blended with new technologies and design inputs. This car also carries a touch of C-Class’s soul. To put it otherwise, SLC is the roadster version of C-Class.
The new SLC was launched in five different trims, which are – SLC 180, SLC 200, SLC 300, SLC 250 D and SLC 43. The SLC 43 is the high performance version. Mercedes hasn’t revealed any detail about which trims will be available in India. We take the opportunity to take a dig about the detail of new SLC Class here. Check that out.

Hearing the word Lamborghini brings a feeling of sheer speed and masculinity in our minds. Since 1960 starting with Lamborghini Miura, the famous Italian company has gifted the world so many models which comes in the segment Superveloce which means super fast in Italian. They call it SV, off for nearly 30 years the new generation SVs came out in broad daylight in 1995 with Lamborghini Diablo. That was truly a revolutionary leap for Lamborghini as well as for the international super car segment.
Only recently Lamborghini presented the SV versions for four vehicles, but none of them were roadsters. And their latest innovation has just filled up the vacuum with a brand new roadster which was showcased at the famous Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance last weekend (Read it here).
Earlier in 2015 Geneva Motor Show Lamborghini showcased a Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce coupe, and they confirmed there will be a roadster version of the car too, which came under the limelight when they showcased it in at Pebble Beach. While among so many gorgeous state of art automobiles were there at Pebble Beach, this blue Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce roadster grabbed everyone’s attention. As this is a limited edition car, Lamborghini will sell only 500 units of this car alongside the coupe.
Such a beautiful car comes in such a short number, which is somehow tough to digest for us, but as it is said, every good thing comes to an end. Before we go in detail of this car, we can only say, this new beauty is so Lamborghini!
We believe in the theory “the lightest the quickest” and one auto manufacturer who seriously does not need any introduction particularly believes in the theory with all their heart. We are talking about Porsche recently they unveiled the Boxster Spyder at the 2015, New York Auto Show. Although this is not the first time that Porsche actually launched the lightest Boxster. The Boxster Spyder was introduced for the first time back in 2009 and believe it or not but the convertible weighed almost 80 Kilogram lighter than the Boxster S. This extremely lightweight Sporstcar was released for sale in the World market in 2010 as a 2011 model.
After almost 4 years of absence Porsche has once again stepped into the same territory and given life to a new car under the same nameplate. The new generation Boxster Spyder too retains the same characteristics of the previous Spyder and decided to stay lightweight. The previous Spyder weighed only about 1275 Kilograms and all that was possible because a lot of the mechanism was removed from the car which included the mechanism to operate the soft top, infotainment system inside the cabin, storage compartments and even air conditioning. The same kind of strategy is also applied even in this completely new Boxster Spyder too.
Powered by a 3.8 Litre Flat six engine, the lightweight surely has made this car fast and it is able to sprint from 0-100km/h mark in 4.5 seconds while it can reach speeds of upto 280 km/h mark. This new Boxster Spyder is quick and responds to your every call.

The gamers are surely getting handful of new and exciting cars to play with this season because on the 15th anniversary of Gran Turismo the renowned car racing game for the Playstation gaming platform which has sold more than 72 million copies worldwide since its 1998 debut will be providing couple of exciting new cars for the gamers to download. Many other auto manufacturers such as Mercedes, Nissan, BMW have already showcased their virtual cars for the Gran Turismo 6 game and most recent manufacturer to join the league is Chevrolet.
Now we already have reported earlier that Chevrolet will unveil their Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept car at the LA Auto show and just earlier today they already did and we are bringing you all the details exclusively which are available about the virtual race car right now. The Chevrolet Chaparral 2x VGT concept also gives you an idea of what Chevrolet has stored for the future; we already have mentioned you before that their VGT car has been inspired from their Chaparral racing and their racing cars with Chevrolet has partnered more than 45 years ago. The concept car breaks all boundaries and also gives a glimpse to their audience of what the Chevrolet engineers are capable of and how they challenge the present norms and can work with the technologies of the future.
An open top or a convertible may not be a very good idea for the Indian market but that does not really stop our auto enthusiasts from getting their hands on one, they are perhaps the next best thing that money can buy to enjoy the open roads and feel the winds flowing through your hair. There are couples of convertible already available in our Indian market and Mercedes Benz added their latest roadster to their Indian lineup recently which definitely is an attention grabber. Yes! I am talking about the all new Mercedes Benz SLK 55 AMG which is a more powerful version of the SLK class already available in our Indian market. Now a roadster with a V8 heart hmm! That is something to really look out for.
The standard SLK class was launched by Mercedes way back in the year 1996 in the International market, so this is definitely not a new car which was added to the German premium brand lineup infact this was probably one of the sportiest, lightest and shortest roadster available in the market. Now many will ask why we prefer an AMG tuned car. The reason is simple Mercedes Benz stuffs the standard cars with a massive engine under the hood and some visual elements to make it appear more beefy and muscular although these cars may not be the most practical ones in the real life situation but who cares if you have the money and want to get your hands on a powerful shiny exotic for yourself.
The Mercedes Benz SLK55 AMG as I already did mentioned above comes packed with a powerful top-of-line V8 engine which packs some serious punch, this roadster is capable of hitting the 100km/h mark in just 4.6 seconds and has a top speed of 250km/h mark.

The Porsche Boxster is the cheapest Porsche and is often regarded as the underdog among the more popular and slightly exclusive 911 line up. Yes, the Boxster is a cheap alternative to the 911, but it isn’t anything like one.
While the more expensive Porsche 911 has its engine bolted behind the rear axle, in the Boxster has its powerhouse in between the two axles and power goes to the rear wheels. This makes the Boxster a mid-engine Porsche and that translates to better weight distribution and dynamic handling handling characteristics.
The base variant of the new Porsche Boxster is available with a 2.7-liter flat-six cylinder engine that generates 265 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque. Porsche offers a PDK double-clutch transmission as an option which allows the mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car to sprint to 100 kph in just 5.5 seconds.
The new models gets an updated interior which feels more premium than before. Also, the exterior styling has been slightly tweaked giving it a more balanced look and thus making it more appeasing to the eye.

“Magnifico” means Magnificent in Italy perhaps this is exactly the word that you will utter when you take a look at it; it is absolutely flawless and meant for pure fun and is definitely not for the faint hearted. Yes! I am talking about the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster. This beast has really set its standard quite high in the world of open-top luxury super sports cars.
Launched at the end of the year 2012 this has definitely marked its arrival but if you are looking for a practical car then this is definitely not for you because this car is an absolute hooligan. The Aventador Roadster is the open top version of the mighty Aventador Coupe which too has marked its grand arrival in the year 2011 and according to Lamborghini it juggles ultimate driving experience with the ultimate in sports car sophistication quite efficiently.
The Aventador Roadster is powered by a centrally located 6.5 liter aspirated V12 which generates 700 hp of maximum power and is mated to an ISR 7-speed gearbox. 700 Hp of power is what you get when you just seat inside and turn on the ignition of this roadster. To give you an actual idea of its power let’s just say the Aventador Roaster is capable of hitting 0-100 km/h mark in just 3.0 seconds and can reach a top speed of 350 km/h mark. It has a full carbon fiber Monocoque chassis and hardtop which makes it extremely lightweight (1625 Kilograms) and also enhances its handling.

The Z-range story takes us way back to the time when the BMW won the 1940 Mille Miglia with the 328 roadster and the 1955 Mille Miglia with the 507 roadster. Much much later, the BMW Z3 and the BMW Z8 triggered a fresh wave of excitement for the classical open-top two-seater car in the 1990s and not-to-mention, their cameos in James Bond movies. But neither of them can compare to the car that introduced people to open top fun with exciting levels of performance. That was the BMW Z4 (still in sale), born exactly 25 years after the legendary BMW Z1.
The new updated Z4 still carries the classic proportions all over its design element that also fuses state-of-the-art technology along with it. The new and updated BMW Z4 carries new features, detailed interior refinements and the new Design Pure Traction equipment package. The Z4 roadster is almost identical to its predecessor. It has a typically long front bonnet and a comfortable, well equipped cabin for two which is placed closed to the rear wheel of the car.

Volvo is need of some inspiration in India. While the brand has witnessed a revival of sorts internationally, in India they struggle despite having some interesting options. Volvo suffers from an image problem in India and it really needs to stir up the imagination of the Indian customer to generate some interest in their brand and to be considered as a worthy alternative to the likes of Audi and BMW. The Volvo C70 convertible is an interesting car and there are enough things going for it to really bring something new and different to the Indian market for Volvo to come back into prominence. The first generation C70 was offered as a coupe and a traditional fabric topped convertible but the current model has a retractable hard top. The C70 is a full four-seat cabriolet and internationally it is an alternative to premium cars like the BMW 3-series Convertible and Audi A5 Cabriolet. If launched in India the C70 could be priced around 25lakhs and could be an interesting option to the boring sedans. On sale internationally is the second generation C70 and just like its predecessor, the Volvo C70 comes as both coupe and convertible.
For a manufacturer of BMW’s stature, it is a surprise that they have struggled with the first Z4 roadster. The Z4 was not able to match the Porsche Boxster but BMW engineers are confident that the second generation Z4 has all that it takes to compete against the Porsche. The Z4 is larger and more comfortable than before and competes with the Audi TT, Mercedes-Benz SLK and also the Nissan 370Z. With its ability of swapping its feel between an open-top sportster and a snug coupe, the Z4 does answer the questions of practicality of convertibles in India. BMW has made changes to the steering, throttle and chassis settings so that the Z4 appeals to a wider audience. James Bond brought forth BMW’s most modern mass-market roadster the Z3 in front of the world and the immediate successor to the Z3 is the Z4. The roadster is priced at Rs 62,77,797 ex-showroom New Delhi.
Macho, GT, images of the iconic 300SL, a long bonnet, dramatic gullwing doors and noise. These would be the first things that would come up to your mind when you mention the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG. The SLS AMG is the kind of car you’ll be glad to spend your lottery money on. With its fabulous set of gullwing doors and the thunderous 6.3-litre V8 engine under the bonnet, the SLS is an all-out supercar. Developed entirely in house, this is the first time AMG has been given a clean sheet to build a road car from the ground up. The SLS draws inspiration from the 1954 300SL which finished second and fourth in the 1952 Mille Miglia, followed by victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car shares the stunning looks, styling and the performance of its predecessor and the SLS is almost 2meters wide. The original SLS was nicknamed ‘gull-wing’ for the way the doors opened and the current SLS looks the part as well. Mercedes launched the SLS Coupe and roadster in India in 2010 and prices for the sportscar start at over 2crore.
Mercedes-Benz would be updating its SLS AMG supercar in 2013 model year. The sportscar would have more power, recalibrated transmission and more dynamic suspension settings. While the SLS AMG GT would hit showrooms internationally by November this year, we can expect it to come to India only by 2013 or maybe even the year later. The SLS AMG is sold in India both as a coupe and a roadster which are priced at Rs2,55,00,000 to Rs 3,05,00,000 respectively. The 2013 SLS AMG GT has been developed using experienced gained from racing the GT3 version of the SLS AMG.
If you were to conduct a study on people who buy a roadster the result invariably would tell you that people who buy such cars are confident. Roadsters are not for those who are shy and get conscious when people point and look at them while they drive around in their open top sports car. The success formula for a roadster is pretty straight forward. Loads of image, a posh cabin and make it reasonably fast. The idea behind the Mercedes SLK is to bring an exciting rear-drive, hardtop, two-seater which is desirable and practical at the same time. The SLK happens to be one of the most popular roadsters in the world and a trendsetter for cars in its segment. First launched in 1996, on sale in India is the third generation SLK and the roadster in India is priced at Rs62,59,500 ex-showroom New Delhi.
Comfort is definitely not on top of your agenda if you are looking for a two seat roadster. What you are looking for is a sweet sounding engine which would reach scenery blurring pace with the softest of touch on the throttle. You buy a roadster because you want to be seen as a super cool dude. And that’s the experience that the BMW Z4 roadster aims at providing its customers. A car that the manufacturer claims is better looking that before and has a stronger engine. Performance is a priority for the new Z4 and with its multitude of new technologies and with the folding hard-top, BMW hopes that the Z4 lives up to its claims of being a car that can combine the comfort of a sporty cruiser along with outright performance. The Z4 price starts from Rs 62,51,563 ex-showroom New Delhi which puts it between the recently launched Audi TT and the Mercedes SLK.
Porsche Boxster was introduced in 1996 and the 986 model was introduced as a 1997 version. Porsches are known for their mid-engine layout and lightweight body. Boxster had always all the ingredients to be a successful sports car and the Boxster needs to fight with roadsters like the Mercedes SLK or BMW Z4. Both are powerful rivals and all three cars are German. Differences between cars in this segment are hard to spot and you really need to push these cars to their limits to make out the differences. In India the Stuttgart roadster is available in two versions – Porsche Boxster Base and Porsche Boxster S.
BMW has its aim high for India. And that’s not to say that the other manufactures are more complacent but since the Bavarian manufacture entered the Indian market it has shaken the competition and all of its models have brought something new to the table. One such car is the BMW Z4, an upgraded version of the old Z3 model.
When the old Z3 started to be left behind by Mercedes SLK and Audi TT, BMW decided to rebuilt the Z3 from scratch and give the old car a hard top and name it “Z4”. The Z4 is the only car to seat two people in the BMW lineup and keeps all the roadster characteristics such as the front-engine and the rear wheel drive layout. The Z4 was launched by BMW to take the fight to the likes of the Mercedes SLK, Porsche Boxster, Audi TT and Nissan 370 Z. The question we seek is, how good is the BMW?
The Mercedes SLK’s name is derived from the company’s vision to create a roadster that was at the same time is sporty, light and short (in German: Sportlich, Leicht und Kurz ). The 2011 SLK is the third generation of the German roadster with the first being manufactured in 1996. All generations of the SLK had a retractable hard top and the latest variant is no different. The front engine front wheel drive roadster competes again the likes of the Porsche Boxster, BMW Z4, Nissan 370 Z and Audi TT Quatro all of which have received rave reviews from the motoring journalists.
