Renault Duster

There is absolutely no denying in accepting the fact that Renault made the compact SUV segment popular after they introduced the Duster. The Duster also happens to be the sole product which has helped this French automaker to establish themselves in the Indian market. As far as the particular SUV is concerned since its launch back in the year 2012 as time passed other auto manufacturers started launching their own products which quickly became popular and honestly affected the sales of now ageing Duster.

So Renault decided to introduce a facelift Duster to the scene and they what could be the better stage other than 2016 Auto Expo. Renault did take the wraps off the facelift Duster and although the cosmetic upgrades made to the compact SUV are subtle but atleast it has given the existing compact SUV a new lease of life.

However the new facelift Duster is not about cosmetic upgrades it also does get a new AMT transmission as well. So now the Duster facelift is available with both the 6 speed manual as well as the newly introduced AMT gearbox. As far as the drivetrain are concerned the Renault Duster remains to be powered by the same 1.5 Litre diesel K9K diesel unit which definitely has been retuned for better refinement and efficiency.

According to the latest reports on the internet Dacia will be taking the covers off the Duster SUV most probably on 22nd June 2017. The reports also state that it will make its public appearance at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor show later this year. For all your information Renault sales the Duster under the Dacia brand in Europe while Renault itself sells it in some other markets of the World including India.

The spy images of the new generation Duster has already been released and which gives us ideas that Renault will be making an evolutionary design to the new generation SUV. What is even more interesting is also the fact that the new SUV will also be bigger than the current generation SUV. 2018 Renault Duster

What do we know so far about the next generation Duster SUV

There is no doubt in the fact that the Duster has kept Renaults cash register ringing since its launch. It has been a pocket-friendly SUV which had almost every quality in it to stay on top of its game. But, If we consider the competition now it’s already been quite some that Renault introduced the Duster in India and they should start thinking of adding the updated one now. Renault although launched a facelift variant of the SUV last year with few new nips and tucks still it is now facing lots of competition from its rivals like Maruti and Hyundai.

The good news is that the next generation Duster was recently caught testing and although it’s from Dacia the same vehicle is rebadged and sold in the Indian market by Renault. The almost production ready prototype was recently spotted testing, and the good news is that most of the body panels that has been used will be carried over the production ready variant as well.

Although the prototype was covered in heavy camouflage, it is quite evident that the new generation Duster won’t be a revolutionary model instead it carries over some of the design cues from the popular Duster SUV. Now, the prototype which was caught testing was Dacia Duster, but we can assure you the rebadged Renault Duster won’t get much of a change though.

Renault Duster Non Airbag Variant Scores Zero Stars In Global NCAP

Renault Duster Non Airbag Variant Scores Zero Stars In Global NCAP

The Duster is definitely one of the most popular Compact SUV’s of the Indian market but it also shares the same fate

In the second set of test for #SafercarsforIndia campaign Global NCAP has released their latest crash test results. The latest car to fall victim to the Global NCAP crash test is the new Renault Duster. The Duster which comes without airbags was tested, and it scored zero stars while on request of the manufacturer they even tested the air bag equipped variant as well which comes with an optional airbag.

The Duster which comes without an airbag disappointingly scored a big zero for adult occupant protection. The crash test quite clearly showed that the car which lacked the essential safety features like a driver airbag would have injured the adult occupant so severely that the chances of survival were zero. However, the same car was able to score 2 stars for rear seat child occupant protection.

After the test, Renault requested Global NCAP to test the version of the Duster which included a single driver airbag. This variant of the Duster was able to score 3 stars for adult occupant protection; while the child protection remained the same at 2 stars.

What is even more surprising was the fact that while the single driver side airbag equipped Latin NCAP tested duster, it managed to score 4 stars. Upon investigating Global NCAP found out that the Indian Duster airbag which was tested recently had a smaller sized airbag than the Latin American Duster.

Renault Duster Oroch Patented In India Could This Mean The Launch Is Near?

Renault Duster Oroch Patented In India Could This Mean The Launch Is Near?

The Duster Oroch Picjup truck will take on the Scorpio Getaway and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross

According to the earlier reports, Renault was planning to introduce a pickup truck in India, and those rumors now seem to be coming true. Only today Gaadiwaadi has released a patented image of the Duster Oroch Pickup truck. Yes! Duster Oroch is the same vehicle that built for the South American market and was showcased at the Brazil Auto show almost two years ago.

The reports also suggest that Renault has patented the image in India. Now like we all know India has never been a Pickup truck friendly market, but there is obviously some competition that Renault will have to face if they consider launching the Oroch in India. Last year when CEO and MD Mr Sumit Sawhney was asked whether there were any plans to introduce the Pickup Truck for the domestic market his reply was a big No. However, it seems like Renault might change their mind soon.

India already has some lifestyle pickup trucks from the likes of Mahindra and Isuzu. However, the Duster Oroch could create an amount of interest mainly keeping the popularity of the Duster in mind.

Is Renault considering Duster Oroch for India?

Is Renault considering Duster Oroch for India?

Someone modified the Duster to give it an Oroch like appearance

Renault Duster is one of the most popular compact SUVs on offer in the Indian market. Recently the French automaker launched the facelift Duster which was showcased earlier this month at the 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo. Now, the French automaker is considering to launch an all new Duster pickup in the country.

Well, jokes apart, Renault have no such plan for the Indian market. But, as it seems, someone who is overtly enthusiast about Renault Duster and pickups, tried to blend passions for both in one car. And the result is the Chopped off Renault Duster pickup. It might not be an official vehicle, but the effort was so nice, that the car looks very much stylish and appealing.

The Duster got its rear compartment and rear door chopped off to the half, and the part is covered with a tonneau cover. The chopped off Duster pickup gets a rear screen. At the front the car gets identical fascia, except the blackened out front grille and the Renault diamond logo as well. The rear sports much of the redesigning attempts, which are incorporated through LED taillights, rear towing hook, apart from the chopped off look. The ORVMs are also blackened. The wheels are blackened out as well, and they come wrapped with thicker tyres. Whoever done this modification, it is actually pretty nice. No rough edge is left anywhere around the vehicle. No wonder this vehicle will attract eyes everywhere it will go.

This particular Renault Duster pickup is based on the previous version of the car, which became vehemently popular in the country. Recently Duster facelift was launched in the country, which incorporates several redesigned features inside out. The new Duster comes with the same old engine options, but an automatic gearbox has been introduced in the facelift version. Incidentally, in the Brazilian market Renault offers a pickup version of the Duster, which is christened as Duster Oroch. In Romania as well, the Dacia Duster pickup is available on request from a large oil firm.

Renault Duster Automatic Spotted In India

Renault Duster Automatic Spotted In India

Renault has been testing the facelift Duster for quite some now in India and it will most probably hit the market by the end of this year or maybe towards early 2016. The test mule which was spotted recently by AutoX hides a secret inside the cabin.

Let’s begin with the noticeable changes to the exterior first; the facelift Duster’s test mule which was spotted had an identical overall dimension like the pre-facelift Duster which is here for sale from the year 2012. The changes however noticed on the test mule includes a new styling for the headlamps, this headlamp unit also gets LED’s along with daytime running lamps or DRL’s. The other noticeable changes towards the front include a new grille as well. The test mule which was captured in the images was a lower spec variant and thus was fitted with steel rims and plastic wheel cover but the top end spec will definitely get the stylish alloy wheels as well. The other changes to the exterior might also include new taillamps as well.

Apart from the exterior the new facelift Duster’s interior too has received some major updates as well, although the images does not reveal much but the facelift Duster comes with an updated dashboard and perhaps new seat upholstery. The steering wheel and other things are carried over from the pre-facelift car.

However the thing which might surprise you is why this gearbox has been covered with a paperbag? The only reason could be that the facelift variant of the Duster could get the new duel clutch transmission for the first time. This 6 speed gearbox which has been called the EDC or Efficient Dual Clutch system also has a lower ratio mode which will help the Duster to take on some small mountains and tough inclined roads as well. According to the reports available this new gearbox will only be offered with 2WD variant of the Duster initially.

From the side profile it’s visible, that the new facelift Duster will come with tons of similarity with the present model, although we can see there are new alloy wheels in the facelift version, while on the rear profile, the facelift duster comes with LED tail lamps, which is visible in the pictures we saw. The dashboard we got a glimpse was completely camouflaged, which gives an indication; there will be plenty of changes inside the cabin too.

The Duster facelift might come retaining present versions 1.5 liter dCi diesel engine, but as we reported earlier (Read it here), it has a strong chance to come with a six speed automatic transmission, whereas the present petrol variants 1.6 liter engine is supposed to continue with the new version too.

Renault To Showcase Duster Oroch Concept in Brazil

Renault To Showcase Duster Oroch Concept in Brazil

Renault definitely attracted our attention by launching the Duster All wheel Drive variant in India but now Renault is preparing to stun the people of Brazil and thus they have decided to showcase the Duster Oroch concept car at the Sao Paulo Motor Show in Brazil which will be held from October 30th onward.

The Duster Oroch Concept is basically a pickup Truck which can seat 5 occupants inside. This robust looking recreational Truck is designed by the Renault Design centre for Latin America (RDAL). The Latin America has a really impressive market for light commercial vehicles and thus this type of trucks account for nearly 75% of the light commercial vehicle market in South America, representing just over 920,000 units and thus seeing the scope of development Renault has already announced their plans to enter the market with two of their new products.

The Duster Oroch show car is based on the Duster Crossover and features some interesting styling elements. The exterior of this Pickup Truck has been finished in Satin White with touches of Orange here and there. The front of the Truck carries some of the styling cues from the D-Cross concept car, which was showcased at the same motor show back in the year 2012, the sporty look truck gets a large front and rear bumpers which actually gives a tougher look to the vehicle while the integrated roof rails on top of the panoramic glass sunroof adds the muscular appeal to the Oroch. The advantage of adding a Panoramic Sunroof on top of the Oroch is that it allows the natural light into the cabin while the rear layout has enough space to store some big objects.

2014 Renault Duster AWD

Renault India will soon be launching the Duster AWD in India, no this isn’t exactly the same Duster that is available in the Indian market nor is it any special edition which actually comes with some fancy stickers. Instead this is a newest Variant of Duster which will come with an AWD mechanism and some fancy hardware’s that are actually needed for some hardcore offroading. OK now that you know atleast something about the upcoming car let us inform you that Duster has done wonders for Renault In India and actually helped the French auto manufacturer to settle in the Indian market although they have quite a number of interesting products to their lineup but the Duster got to be the most popular amongst the lineup.

The Duster when launched back in the year 2012 quickly gained popularity of being one of the most attractive and affordable SUV’s. Yes! It is not as powerful like the other bigger SUV’s already available in India but it surely is the first choice for many when they decide to get themselves an SUV priced well under the 10 Lakh Rupee bracket. Now perhaps Renault wants to give the Duster a more muscular and rough and tough image so that it could also appeal to the hardcore offroading fans of the country who only depended on the trusty old Mahindra Scorpio or the Bolero to perform those unbelievable tasks beyond the tarmac.

Although Renault will be launching the Duster AWD on 24th of September 2014 but we are here to provide you a first impression of this vehicle.

Renault Duster AWD Lauching soon In India (With Video)

Renault will be launching the Duster AWD in India on 24th of September 2014. This will be a 4 wheel drive vehicle which uses a Shift-on-the-fly mechanism. The Duster AWD vehicle is based on Duster’s top end variant and is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder K9K diesel engine which produces about 110 ps of peak power and 248 Nm of peak torque, this diesel engine has been mated to a 6 speed manual transmission.

One can operate the Shift-on-the-fly mechanism with the help of a knob placed on the center console which actually allows the person driving the vehicle to choose from three different driving modes namely the 2WD, Auto or Lock modes. The fun fact is that until now this car was actually being manufactured in India but exported to other Countries but Renault has finally decided to launch it in Indian market because of the increasing competition and its popularity in the Indian market. This SUV uses Independent Multilink suspension setup which will provide a comfortable ride on any situation.

Now as I already mentioned little earlier that the Duster AWD has been provided with 3 driving modes the 2WD, Auto and Lock modes, now the as we all know the 2WD mode which sends power only to the front wheels can be used mainly on city roads while the Auto mode actually sends some amount of power to the rear wheels when the SUV passes over some rough and tough conditions or when the front wheels loses traction the last mode however is the Lock modes which activates the 4 wheel drive system but you can use it only upto 60 km/h after that it changes automatically to the Auto mode. Beside all this Renault has actually loaded the Duster AWD with some more important hardware’s such as hill start assist and traction control. The Duster AWD also comes with a 210 mm of ground clearance which will make sure that nothing threatens the capabilities of this Duster.

2014 Renault Duster

2014 Renault Duster

The Renault Duster has definitely left its mark in the Indian market when it was launched back in the year 2012. It has bagged itself couple of prestigious awards and also received tremendous response from the Indian consumers and became one of the most popular compact SUV’s under the 10 lakh price bracket.

Honestly the Renault Duster provides a far more spacious interior than its biggest rival the Ford Ecosport while it is also true that it definitely comes nowhere near the Ecosport when it comes to engine power and exterior styling, the Ecosport looks more aggressive which is also the main reason behind its impressive sales figures. But for those real Duster fans or even for those who are planning to buy a compact SUV priced aggressively, we can certainly tell you that your wait is finally over because Dacia has already launched the facelifted Duster in the International market and hopefully the new Duster will make its way into the Indian market real soon.

So today we are here to bring you a speculative review of the new Duster which is sold in the International market by Dacia while the same SUV is sold in the Indian market by none other than Renault themselves.

Renault Duster winches a Porsche Macan out of Moroccan desert

Renault Duster winches a Porsche Macan out of Moroccan desert

Seldom do you witness a "David versus Goliath" scenario in real life. A similar sort of scene played out when journalists were invited to Morocco to drive the new Porsche Macan. Now, a Porsche Macan is the latest in the lineup of Porsche’s off-road SUVs. It sits at the lower end of Porsche’s SUV line up and is based on the Audi Q5.

Porsche has injected their own DNA so that the Macan is claimed to be much more capable off-road and extremely fun to drive on tarmac. While driving through the Moroccan desert with a group of journalists on board, who would’ve thought it would get stuck in the sand. And so it happened.

The approximately INR 60 plus lakh Porsche SUV was going no further with its wheels rooted in the Moroccan desert. Now, the Porsche Macan has an on-board electronic brain which knows what to do in such a situation. The all-wheel drive system can shuffle power around all four corners to those wheels that have the most traction. Sadly however, on this occasion, the Porsche Macan had completely bogged down.

So, to the rescue of the stricken Porsche came a rather reasonably priced Dacia Duster. In India, we know it as the Renault Duster. That said, the Indian version does not get all-wheel drive capabilities. Still, the cheap Dacia was all it took to free an expensive "Audi" from the clutches of the Moroccan desert floor.

Old Scorpio Scores Higher Sales Figures Than the Duster

After the launch of the Ford Ecosport in the Indian market, we are yet to see the dogfight between the Ecosport and Renault Duster, in terms of sales figures. So, after sources scrutinized the figures for the SUV segment, to everyone’s surprise, it was revealed that the old and popular SUV Scorpio, from Mahindra has scored more sales points than the Renault Duster. Renault has been enjoying the cash flow in from the sales of the Duster, though it couldn’t go any higher as the Scorpio managed to beat the monthly sales figures of Duster in another consecutive month.

The sales figures reveal that M&M did sell over 3,356 units of Scorpio in August, 2013 while that of 2,967 units of the Renault Duster were sold in the same month. In the month of July, Scorpio’s 3,256 units isn’t match for the Duster’s 3089 units. According to Pravin Shah, the chief executive of Mahindra and Mahindra, "Scorpio being a brand is still maintaining a strong image of its own even amongst the situation of increased duty and sloppy market and has made the features like the overall SUV character of styling, performance and reliability the reason for its consistent success". While speaking on the long term goals of Scorpio, Pravin Shah also dropped a hint of the facelift for the Scorpio. which will act as a key to boost the sales of the company even further.

Renault Announces Facelift for Duster

Renault Announces Facelift for Duster

After the launch of the Renault’s compact SUV, Duster, over a year ago, things were in favor for the French Automaker. After its breakup with Mahindra, we thought Renault was done with India. But, after the launch of the Duster, with Nissan as its new mate, we were proved wrong. The Duster was what paved the way for Renault to start an onslaught with many new, rebadged models. Since the launch of the Ecosport, that aims to make the concept of owning an SUV a less expensive, the French have been feeling the heat. To cool themselves down, they’ve announced a facelift for the Renault Duster that will be shown off at Frankfurt.

So the changes which has been made to the new Duster include a new redesigned front grille and a new restyled lower bumper with revamped air intake ports, The front headlamps also have been upgraded with the new double-optic headlights along with the industry standard daytime running lights.

The side profile of the SUV hasn’t received any significant changes, though we don’t have any problems with it. The changes include a new set of 16-inch, dark metal 5-spoke alloy wheels which is wrapped around new Mud and Snow tyres. The chunky looking wheels enhances the side profile of the Duster making it look like a proper SUV.

As far as the rear is concerned, it gets a new pair of tail lamps with tons of chrome added to the rear. The lower bumper gets a silver finished scuff plate along with a chrome-plated tail pipe.

So, these are some of the major cosmetic updates that have been introduced in the Duster and we have to admit that the changes do enhance the overall stance of the SUV, one thing that the Ford Ecosport doesn’t have.

Currently we don’t have any details on when the updated Renault Duster will hit the Indian market. But it will happen soon, if Renault has to fend off attacks from both Nissan and Ford.

OVERVIEW 2012 Renault Duster

2012 Renault Duster

Renault made quite a stir in the Indian Automobile market when they launched the Duster in the year 2012. There were more than 10,000 bookings for the Duster within no time. The reason behind such response from the people was it was priced most aggressively at RS.7.19 lakh for its base model, an SUV at this price appealed to those who were looking for an SUV under 10 Lakh and also to those who were C segment Saloon buyers. The Duster was already famous in European countries and also made its name in Dakar rallies.

The Duster has both Diesel and Petrol engine versions and generates 84bhp and 102.5bhp respectively. The Duster possesses all the quality that a SUV should have. 102 bhp might raise a doubt that it is slightly underpowered but do not underestimate the Duster because it has got everything in it.
