According to the latest reports on the internet Dacia will be taking the covers off the Duster SUV most probably on 22nd June 2017. The reports also state that it will make its public appearance at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor show later this year. For all your information Renault sales the Duster under the Dacia brand in Europe while Renault itself sells it in some other markets of the World including India.
The spy images of the new generation Duster has already been released and which gives us ideas that Renault will be making an evolutionary design to the new generation SUV. What is even more interesting is also the fact that the new SUV will also be bigger than the current generation SUV. There were also rumours that Renault might also launch a Grand Duster later as well which will also get a third-row seating.
The spyshots did reveal few details of the exterior, expect the new generation Duster to feature a V-shaped grille along with sharper and sleeker looking projector headlamps which will also come integrated with LED DRLs as well. well the Brazilian spec KWID definitely looks well equipped find out what is different
Renault launched the KWID back in 2015, and this was their first attempt to make their mark in the entry level car segment of India. After the KWID’s launch, its aggressive pricing and the features that it offered in an entry-level hatchback made the car an instant hit. The KWID even bite into the sales shares of some other entry level products from renowned manufacturers like Maruti and Hyundai. The Indian customers appreciated everything about the car till Global NCAP crash tested the compact entry-level hatchbacks to measure the safety standards that they offered to the occupants inside. To our surprise and shock, the KWID failed the safety standard test horribly. The fate of the KWID at the crash test was similar to some other entry level cars like the Maruti Alto800 and Hyundai Eon.
Renault then assured the Indian buyers that they have reworked on the structure of the hatchback and launched the updated car. Later when the KWID has tested again, it managed to score 1-star safety rating. The reports stated that Renault although took steps in reinforcing the structure but they have made changes only to the driver side where as the passenger side structure was left untouched.
Now Renault has recently launched the KWID hatchback in the markets of Brazil, and it comes with plenty of upgraded equipment as well as cosmetic updates as well. Below we have provided all the difference between the Indian spec KWID and the Brazilian-spec KWID find out which one offers better equipment and safety features at the price point.
The car has scored fairly in terms of overall safety standard but will it get the same safety features for Indian market
The crash test results of the India-bound Renault Captur (Kaptur) are out, and quite honestly it scored pretty well in the overall crash test conducted by Latin NCAP. The Renault 5 door SUV was able to score 4 out of 5 stars for adult safety and 3 out of 5 stars for Child Safety.
The version that was tested was equipped with four airbags, electronic stability control, Isofix system for securing child seats in the back seat and seat belts with pretensioners. During the time of frontal impact, the Captur offered adequate protection to the driver and front passenger neck area. The chest protection of the driver was marginal while the passenger was good. Both the front passenger’s knees were also safe. The driver tibias showed adequate protection while the passengers showed good protection. The bodyshell of the SUV was also rated stable during the side impact. The side head-thorax airbag was offered good protection to the adult to the head, abdomen and pelvis area.
As far as the child safety of the SUV is concerned the child seat for the 3year-old child was not able to prevent forward movement during the frontal impact. However, the during side impact both the child dummies were well protected. The Captur also offers a 3 point belts in all seating positions as standard, and all of them met international technical standards. Thus like we already mentioned above the SUV was able to score 3 stars concerning Child safety standard.
This changes adds a personalized touch to the overall hatchback
There is absolutely no doubt in the fact that the Renault KWID is the most sold Renault car in India which even went on to beat the Duster SUV regarding overall sales. One of the main reason for its impressive sales figures is definitely the different various and types that are on sale alongside the standard variant. Renault has actually worked hard on this particular product of theirs to keep things fresh and exciting. They recently introduced the Renault Climber variant which was the cosmetically updated KWID. Last year they even added a more powerful KWID 1.0 Litre which is now on sale alongside the standard KWID which is powered by the 0.8 Litre unit.
Now recently they have introduced a new line of special edition KWID which Renault is calling ‘Live for More Collection’. There are seven different graphics option which includes Sports, Race, Rallycross, Chase, Ziip, Turbo and Classic. All these seven colour options come with various colour options which include Red, Ice Cool White, Moonlight Silver, Outback Bronze and Planet Grey. These colour options also get different graphics as well. The Live for more collection not only gets different colour options but some personalization options such as chrome grille inserts, alloy rims, full chrome door handle, new mud flaps, roof rails, illuminated sill plate, bumper protectors just like ones found in the Climber variant, and also bumper garnish.
What do we know so far about the next generation Duster SUV
There is no doubt in the fact that the Duster has kept Renaults cash register ringing since its launch. It has been a pocket-friendly SUV which had almost every quality in it to stay on top of its game. But, If we consider the competition now it’s already been quite some that Renault introduced the Duster in India and they should start thinking of adding the updated one now. Renault although launched a facelift variant of the SUV last year with few new nips and tucks still it is now facing lots of competition from its rivals like Maruti and Hyundai.
The good news is that the next generation Duster was recently caught testing and although it’s from Dacia the same vehicle is rebadged and sold in the Indian market by Renault. The almost production ready prototype was recently spotted testing, and the good news is that most of the body panels that has been used will be carried over the production ready variant as well.
Although the prototype was covered in heavy camouflage, it is quite evident that the new generation Duster won’t be a revolutionary model instead it carries over some of the design cues from the popular Duster SUV. Now, the prototype which was caught testing was Dacia Duster, but we can assure you the rebadged Renault Duster won’t get much of a change though.

The Duster is definitely one of the most popular Compact SUV’s of the Indian market but it also shares the same fate
In the second set of test for #SafercarsforIndia campaign Global NCAP has released their latest crash test results. The latest car to fall victim to the Global NCAP crash test is the new Renault Duster. The Duster which comes without airbags was tested, and it scored zero stars while on request of the manufacturer they even tested the air bag equipped variant as well which comes with an optional airbag.
The Duster which comes without an airbag disappointingly scored a big zero for adult occupant protection. The crash test quite clearly showed that the car which lacked the essential safety features like a driver airbag would have injured the adult occupant so severely that the chances of survival were zero. However, the same car was able to score 2 stars for rear seat child occupant protection.
After the test, Renault requested Global NCAP to test the version of the Duster which included a single driver airbag. This variant of the Duster was able to score 3 stars for adult occupant protection; while the child protection remained the same at 2 stars.
What is even more surprising was the fact that while the single driver side airbag equipped Latin NCAP tested duster, it managed to score 4 stars. Upon investigating Global NCAP found out that the Indian Duster airbag which was tested recently had a smaller sized airbag than the Latin American Duster.

The Climber variant is priced only 25, 000 more than the top-end 1.0L RXT (O)
Renault KWID has been an instant hit after its launch in the Indian market and there is no doubt in the fact that after the Duster, the KWID is definitely their most successful product which has helped them to plant a firmer foot in the Indian automotive market.
Renault showcased two of their wild concepts based on the KWID hatchback at the 2016 Auto Expo last year. The two concepts which were showcased included the KWID Climber and the Racer concept. While the Racer concept focused on the racing genes of the KWID, the Climber variant, on the other hand, was Renault’s effort to make the KWID appear more purposeful and brawny.
According to the reports, Renault has sold more than 1,30,000 unit of the KWID hatchback till date and perhaps to share the success of the hatchback with the customers, the French Auto manufacturer now has decided to introduce perhaps a special edition of their popular hatchback in the form of KWID Climber.

This will be the flagship offering from the KWID brand and will get all the goodies
According to the ET Auto, Renault is all set to introduce another new variant of the KWID tomorrow. This is the much awaited KWID Climber variant which was showcased first at the 2016 Auto Expo.
The reports also state that this is the French Automakers strategy of introducing entirely new KWID variants every six months. Until now they already have launched three variants of their entry level offering including the 800 cc variant while later after almost a year they introduced the 1.0 Litre followed by the AMT (Easy-R) option later.
The Renault KWID Climber is powered by the more powerful 1.0 Litre, three-cylinder unit which might also feature the AMT gearbox as an option. The KWID Climber is the same KWID hatchback with few cosmetic updates made to its exterior as well as interior so also expect it to be priced reasonable as well.
As far as the cosmetic changes are concerned to assume the KWID Climber to get a redesigned front grille and bumper while you can also expect the front nose to adorn faux skid plates as well to make the front profile look slightly more brawny and purposeful. Although the side profile of the hatchback will remain the same, the rear profile might receive new bumper and perhaps a protective covering around the taillamps. There won’t be any big changes made to the interior though however expect the KWID Climber variant to get a new set of upholstery inside to keep things fresh and different from the standard variant. The KWID Climber will be flagship offering from the KWID brand thus expect it to get the same 7-inch infotainment system with navigation unit from the top KWID variant.
The KWID definitely has been a successful product for Renault since it joined the lineup and also has helped the French Automaker to achieve a market share of 4.5% by the end of 2016.
This will most probably be a special edition model and will be sold in limited numbers
According to the recent reports, Renault perhaps will be launching the KWID Climber variant in India soon. They already have started dealers training for this upcoming KWID variant which indicates to one thing that is the launch of this new KWID variant isn’t far away.
Renault showcased the KWID Climber concept at the 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo; the KWID concept was just a visually enhanced variant of the existing KWID hatchback which also happens to be the most favourite car of their lineup. The KWID Climber concept which was showcased at the Auto show equipped with redesigned front bumpers which also featured skid plates towards the front; the grille too looked slightly beefier as well. There were also black claddings surrounding the headlamps as well as the taillamps. Towards the side profile, the ORM’s too looked completely new while the wheel design was also entirely different and sportier. The KWID Climber variant also featured slightly thicker body claddings around the wheel arches as well.
Just like the exterior expect the interior also to get new treatment which might come in the form of dual tone colours, new upholstery and door mats.
As far as the drivetrain is concerned to expect the Climber variant to get the more powerful 1.0 Litre three-cylinder engine which will come paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard now we are still not sure whether Renault will equip this single variant with the AMT gearbox or not.
The Duster Oroch Picjup truck will take on the Scorpio Getaway and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross
According to the earlier reports, Renault was planning to introduce a pickup truck in India, and those rumors now seem to be coming true. Only today Gaadiwaadi has released a patented image of the Duster Oroch Pickup truck. Yes! Duster Oroch is the same vehicle that built for the South American market and was showcased at the Brazil Auto show almost two years ago.
The reports also suggest that Renault has patented the image in India. Now like we all know India has never been a Pickup truck friendly market, but there is obviously some competition that Renault will have to face if they consider launching the Oroch in India. Last year when CEO and MD Mr Sumit Sawhney was asked whether there were any plans to introduce the Pickup Truck for the domestic market his reply was a big No. However, it seems like Renault might change their mind soon.
India already has some lifestyle pickup trucks from the likes of Mahindra and Isuzu. However, the Duster Oroch could create an amount of interest mainly keeping the popularity of the Duster in mind.
The AMT variant is priced only 30 K more than the manual transmission as an introductory offer
There is no doubt that the KWID has been one of the most successful products for Renault after the Duster. Recently they have introduced the Live for more edition of the KWID, and now they have announced a more affordable RXL trim of the hatchback with the 1.0 Litre variant. Previously the 1.0 Litre variant was available only with the top end RXT variants only. The best part is that the new variant is also available with both manuals as well as AMT transmission.
What is even more interesting is also the fact that the introductory prices for the new RXL are just INR. 30, 000 more than the 1.0 Litre manual transmission. Talking about prices while the 1.0 Litre RXL variant is priced at INR 3.54 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) the AMT transmission equipped variant priced at INR. 3.84 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Now, coming to the features that you can notice in the newly introduced RXL variants of the KWID, the hatchback gets passenger side ORVM’s, B-Pillar Painted with Black vinyl, a rear roof spoiler on its exterior. Inside the cabin, KWID RXL variants feature single din music system with USB, AUX and two speakers. However, the touchscreen system with navigation is offered only with the top end RXT trim only.
