Porsche 718 Boxster S Review: Video

The Boxster gets a smaller flat four engine but there is something else to it also

First of all let me mention here I loved the way the video started with rain pouring down from the skies and the sea waves hitting the shores. There are some new improvements made by Porsche in this new Boxster for instance you can now open the soft top while the car is moving, the new Boxster derives some of its parts from the old Boxster and other cars from Porsche lineup. The new Boxster also gets bigger front disc brakes, while trhe rear axle is shared with the Cayman GT4. While the turbo in particular has been taken from the 911, the 2.5 Litre engine which is capable of producing about 350 Hp of peak power and an impressive 420 Nm of torque in between 1900 to 4500 rpm. Porsche's Next Generation Boxster and Cayman To Be Called 718 Boxster & 718 Cayman

Porsche’s Next Generation Boxster and Cayman To Be Called 718 Boxster & 718 Cayman

In an official press release Porcshe confirmed that their next generation Boxster and Cayman Sportscars will carry the 718 initials infront of their names. Apart from carrying the same names both this mid-engine sportscars will also carry many visual and technical similarities as well. As far as the drivetrains are concerned Porsche already gave everyone a hint that they will be carrying a powerful four-cylinder flat engines which also get turbochargers. Obviously the Roaster variant of the car will be positioned above the Coupe variant like they already have in the 911 model lineup.

The reason behind Porsche selecting the 718 name is perhaps to pay a tribute to the 718 model series which used the Four-cylinder flat engines. The 718 was the successor of the legendary Porsche 550 Spyder, which too used four cylinder flat engine setup and that has actually helped them to win number of races including the 12-hour race in Sebring in 1960 or at the European Hill Climb Championship that ran between 1958 and 1961.

The 718 also won number of championships itself; it won the first position not once, not twice but thrice at Italian Targa Florio race in Sicily in between 1959 and 1960. It also won 24 Hours of Le Mans race 1958. The 718 RSK produces 142 Hp of peak power which helps the car to score a class victory. Recently in the year 2015 Porsche won the endurance race in Le Mans and the WEC world endurance championship with the 919 Hybrid race car which also uses a two-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine.

As far as the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman are concerned they will be introduced in the International market in the year 2016.

The base versions of the Boxster and Cayman will be getting a 2.0 litre engine that is said to produce around 240 Hp while the S and GTS version will get a 2.5 litre engine producing approximately 300 Hp and 370 Hp respectively.

There is also a rumour that the Porsche Cayman, for the first time, will be positioned below the Boxster as the entry level sports car. This is because the Boxster has always out-sold the Cayman. OVERVIEW 2016 Porsche Boxster Spyder

2016 Porsche Boxster Spyder

We believe in the theory “the lightest the quickest” and one auto manufacturer who seriously does not need any introduction particularly believes in the theory with all their heart. We are talking about Porsche recently they unveiled the Boxster Spyder at the 2015, New York Auto Show. Although this is not the first time that Porsche actually launched the lightest Boxster. The Boxster Spyder was introduced for the first time back in 2009 and believe it or not but the convertible weighed almost 80 Kilogram lighter than the Boxster S. This extremely lightweight Sporstcar was released for sale in the World market in 2010 as a 2011 model.

After almost 4 years of absence Porsche has once again stepped into the same territory and given life to a new car under the same nameplate. The new generation Boxster Spyder too retains the same characteristics of the previous Spyder and decided to stay lightweight. The previous Spyder weighed only about 1275 Kilograms and all that was possible because a lot of the mechanism was removed from the car which included the mechanism to operate the soft top, infotainment system inside the cabin, storage compartments and even air conditioning. The same kind of strategy is also applied even in this completely new Boxster Spyder too.

Powered by a 3.8 Litre Flat six engine, the lightweight surely has made this car fast and it is able to sprint from 0-100km/h mark in 4.5 seconds while it can reach speeds of upto 280 km/h mark. This new Boxster Spyder is quick and responds to your every call.

Video: Meet The New Porsche Boxster With 375 Ps Of Power On Tap

Did you guys meet the new Porsche Boxter Spyder yet? Well here it is in all white…

Recently Porsche has just taken its covers off from the new Boxster Spyder at the 2015 New York Auto Show and if you ask me it looks dead gorgeous. This mid engine sportscar features a 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine which produces an impressive 375 Ps of peak power, what is even more interesting is the fact that this engine has been mated to a manual transmission. What is the outcome well! 0-100 km/h mark comes in just 4.5 seconds while put the foot down and it can even reach its top speed of 280 km/h mark.

Not Impressed yet? Well here is more the new Boxster Spyder is extremely lightweight and Porsche has almost stripped down everything from this new car to keep the weight down. Inside the cabin everything looks really naked what is interesting is the fact that you will only get a radio and an air conditioner as your equipment with no additional cost. On its exterior you won’t notice a major overhaul either though but the changes looks subtle; the front bumper has been inspired from the Cayman GT4 and comes with bigger air intakes while one will also notice a pair of hump just behind the passenger seats on the rear deck. Offcourse! This is a convertible but the soft top has to be manually operated which can be a bit of pain because you have to get out the car everytime you operate. Towards its rear one another new feature that you will notice is that the Boxster logo has been replaced with only the Spyder logo. The ride height also has been lowered by almost 200 mm while the standard suspension has been replaced with firmer sports suspension.

This car will be available for sell by the end of the year 2015.

OVERVIEW 2012 Porsche Boxster S

2012 Porsche Boxster S

Porsche time and time again has managed to produce cars that are intuitive and feel just right. Their cars have been revolutionary, outrageously lovely while appealing to our emotions. Porsches have won awards around the world for offering stonking performance and amazing road presence. Incidentally the Porsche 911 won the sportscar of the year award for 2012. The 2012 Boxster S which the manufacturer claims to be the best Boxster yet, comes with a new lightweight body and a revamped chassis. This Boxster is lighter and the engine puts out more power. Though the Boxster over the years has got some stick for being a ‘poor man’s 911’, the Porsche Boxster nevertheless remains a magical piece of engineering. With its mid-engine configuration the Boxster is a true Porsche in the traditional way. The 2012 model has a longer wheelbase, wider track which Porsche claims will enhance the mid-engine sports car’s driving dynamics. In India the Boxster S is priced at Rs 69.38 lakh ex-showroom New Delhi.

2009 Porsche Boxster

Porsche Boxster was introduced in 1996 and the 986 model was introduced as a 1997 version. Porsches are known for their mid-engine layout and lightweight body. Boxster had always all the ingredients to be a successful sports car and the Boxster needs to fight with roadsters like the Mercedes SLK or BMW Z4. Both are powerful rivals and all three cars are German. Differences between cars in this segment are hard to spot and you really need to push these cars to their limits to make out the differences. In India the Stuttgart roadster is available in two versions – Porsche Boxster Base and Porsche Boxster S.
