Tata Motors today commenced the pre-Bookings for their soon to be launched Tigor Styleback from today onward. The Tigor is the production variant of the Kite5 sedan which was showcased at the 2016 Auto expo and will be launching in the Indian market on 29th March 2017. The bookings for the upcoming compact sedan like we said has already commenced across all the dealerships in India with booking amounts of INR, 5000.
There is no doubt in the fact that the Tigor brings a fresh new air of break freestyling to its segment. The the new styling and design approach is meant to the new and fast generations of the Country according to Tata Motors.
Coming to the car, in particular, the Tigor is the third car from the Tata Motors lineup which embodies IMPACT design philosophy. The Tigor definitely is one of the most stylish car from Tata that will be plying the Indian roads soon. The Coupe like styling an impressive boot space of 419 Litres at the rear, 5-speed opening doors for easy access, a hexagonal detailing on the front grilles are some of its exterior highlights. While the LED elements at the taillamps and chrome bar running in between the rear taillamps are some of the premium elements that is worth praising. Inside things are equally interesting as well compared to the hatchback Tiago the compact sedan has an extended wheelbase by 50 mm which has also helped significantly in improving the rear leg room as well. The compact, besides getting a redesigned seats also gets a touchscreen infotainment system as well.
Under the hood, the Tigor Styleback shares the same 1.2 Litre Revotron petrol engine and a 1.05L Revotorq diesel engine with the Tiago hatchback. This engine generates same amount of power and torque and is paired to a 5 speed manual gearbox. Unfortunately Tata Motors has decided to skip the AMT transmission on this compact sedan. However, there is a fair chance that they might add the AMT transmission at a later stage.
Talking about the power the Revotron 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol engine delivers an optimum power of 85ps and a maximum torque of 114Nm whereas the Revotorq 1.05L diesel engine delivers around 70ps of peak power and a maximum torque of 140Nm. The best part is that both the engines get multi-drive Eco and City modes.
The Tigor Styleback will compete directly with some other compact sedans of its segment including the Swift Dzire and the Hyundai Xcent. Expect the newest compact sedan to also be priced competitively as well.
