Tata has already strengthened their position in the small car segment of the Indian market with the launch of the Tiago hatchback which has been positioned just below their Bolt hatchback. Now the good news is that Tata wants to further strengthen their product portfolio by introducing the AMT variant of the hatchback as well.

According to the recent reports Tata will be launching the Tiago hatchback equipped with AMT transmission during the festive month and it will be sold alongside their existing Tiago variants. The Tiago is available with both petrol as well as diesel drivetrains. Powering the petrol variant is a 1.2 Litre Revotron engine capable of churning out about 83 Bhp of peak power and 114 Nm of torque. The diesel variant on the other hand extracts its power from 1.05 Litre, 3 cylinder Revotorq drivetrain which churns out about 69 Bhp of power and 140 Nm of torque. Both the engines come paired to a 5 speed manual gearbox but like the title suggests Tata will also introduce an AMT gearbox as well.

Besides introducing the AMT gearbox with the Tiago, Tata will also introduce the new completely Kite 5 sedan as well which is based on the same Tiago platform and will also share the drivetrains with the hatchback. This sedan will be positioned below the Zest.

The Kite 5 sedan concept was showcased at the 2016 Auto expo for the first time and was appreciated much for it’s out of the box sporty styling. The compact sedan is the same Tiago hatchback with an additional boot and wrap around LED taillamps. Expect it also to share almost all the components with its hatchback cousin including the drivetrains as well.

Expect the Kite 5 sedan to be priced little premium than its hatchback variant which will also make it one of the most affordable compact sedan of the Indian market. Under the hood as already mentioned earlier it will be powered by the same 1.2 Litre Revotron petrol and the 1.05 litre Revotorq diesel unit which is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox and the good news is that even the AMT gearbox will also be carried over from the hatchback as well.

Volkswagen is right on track and is almost ready to introduce the diesel variant of their compact sedan offering Ameo in the Indian market during this festive season. The Ameo was launched here in the month of June and is offered with a 1.2 Litre petrol unit.

On the other hand the diesel variant of the Ameo will be powered by an updated 1.5 Liter TDI mill which is expected to produce about 108 Bhp of peak power and an impressive 240 Nm of torque. The engine will be offered with both 5 speed manual as well a 7 speed DSG transmission setup as an option.

If we talk about feature expect this compact sedan variant to share almost all the features with the petrol variant. The top trims will get a touchscreen infotainment system with Mirorlink system which also doubles up as the screen for rear parking camera, automatic climate control, leather wrapped multi-functional steering wheel etc.

Fiat is planning to introduce another variant of their Avventura Crossover towards this festive season. Dubbed as the Avventura Urban Crossover, this car first made its appearance at the 2016 Auto expo. The Avventura Urban Crossover manages to shed off some of its hardcore styling and look a lot more like an Urban Crossover. The Urban Cross gets silver coloured roof rails, 17 inch alloy wheels and LED optical taillamps on the outside. While on the inside the Crossover gets touchscreen infotainment system with integrated satellite navigation along with compass and an inclinoemeter.

Under the hood this Crossover uses the same 1.4 Liter T-Jet Turbocharged, four cylinder petrol unit which produces about 140 ps of peak power at 5500 rpm and 210 Nm of torque in between 2000-4000 rpm. The engine is paired to a 5 speed manual transmission.

Hyundai is all set to introduce the new Elantra in India. The sedan was caught testing couple of times already on the Indian roads and is expected to be launched towards the month of September.

The new Elantra exterior still is influenced by Hyundai’s Fludic Sculpture 2.0 Philosophy. While the newly designed exterior gets a huge single unit hexagonal front grille, projector headlamps and LED daytime running lamps integrated in one unit, 16 inch alloy wheels and LED lamps towards the rear. Inside expect the new Elantra to be lot more premium and will get a completely new 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, Cruise controls etc.

The new Elantra will be powered by 2.0 Liter, four cylinder MPI petrol unit which is expected to produce about 149 ps of peak power and around 183 Nm of torque. The diesel engine on the other hand will get the 1.6 Litre, four cylinder CRDi VGT motor which is expected to produce about 136 ps of peak power and around 306 Nm of torque output. Both the engines will be paired to a 6 speed manual transmission while there will also be an optional automatic gearbox as well.

Maruti is all set to introduce the Baleno RS in the Indian market during the festive season. This is actually the more premium spec Baleno which will be powered by a newly developed 1.0 Litre Boosterjet petrol unit. This turbocharged motor is capable of producing about 110 Hp of peak power and 170 Nm of torque on the export spec Baleno. The petrol unit at the same time is also more fuel efficient than the 1.2 Litre unit which powers the hatchback currently and will come paired to a 5 speed manual or a 6 speed automatic gearbox.

Styling wise the Baleno RS will get a sportier front bumper, a different grille than the current variant, side skirts, roof spoiler and a sportier rear bumper. Inside the soon to be launched hatch will be inspired by the top end Baleno trim which is already on sale in the Indian market.
