We already did mention in some of our earlier articles that there is no doubt in the fact that the year 2016 has been one eventful year for the Indian auto industry. We have seen plenty of launches from different manufacturers but what shocked the world were manufacturers like Aston Martin, Lamborghini introducing their newest supercars and sports cars just few days after their launch in the global markets which quite clearly explains that India has now also become an important market for these sports cars.
Now there are couple of interesting supercars and exotic cars launched last year including some special edition cars as well. We have provided all the details of these sports cars launched back in 2016 below.

Audi showcased the new generation R8 V10 in India at the 2016 Auto expo and decided to launch it in the same year in India. The flagship sportscar from the German auto manufacturer surely won hearts with its presence. In India the R8 is available only in its V10 plus avatar.
Powered by a 5.2 FSI quattro V10 engine the motor is capable of producing about 610 hp peak power. This engine helps the sportscar to accelerate from 0-100 km per hour in 3.2 seconds while it can reach a top speed of 330 km/h mark. The engine is paired to a 7-speed S-tronic gearbox which sends power to all the four wheels nwith the help of Audi’s Quattro all wheel drive system. The new car is fuel efficient at the same time because of the new space frame. The R8 V10 plus gets LED headlamps as standard it also gets 19 inch alloy wheels as well. While inside the new sportscar gets Audi’s virtual cockpit system and sports seats. The car is sold in the Indian market via the CBU route and is priced at INR. 2.55 Crores ex showrrom
Lamborghini launched the Huracan Spyder in India during the month of May. This is the convertible variant which was launched immediately after its Global launch. The only difference that the car gets is that it gets a soft-top retractable roof, instead of the hard rooftop. This soft top takes just 18 seconds to open or close and can be operated upto speeds of 50 km/h mark.
The Huracan Spyder LP 610-4 gets the same powertrain which powers the Huracan as well. Thus it gets the 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 unit which is capable of producing about 610bhp of peak power and develops a peak torque of 560Nm. Similarly the gearbox has also been retained, which is a 7-speed LDF dual-clutch transmission which sends power to all the four wheels at the same time. The soft top convertible is capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/h mark in 3.4 seconds while it has the capability of reaching top speeds of 324 km/h mark. The Lamborghini Huracan Spyder is priced at INR. 3.89 Crore (ex showroom, Mumbai).
To all our surprise the premium British auto manufacturer Aston Martin introduced their latest flagship sports the Aston Martin DB11 in India. The cars overall design has been inspired from the DB10 which was used in the latest James Bond movie Spectre.
The new sportscar gets a twin-turbo engine, this engine develops about 608 PS of peak power and 700 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to 8-speed automatic transmission. The all new DB11 is capable of hitting 0-100 km/h mark in 3.9 seconds while it can reach a top speed of 322 km/h mark.
The all new DB series car underpins a new lightweight platform and gets plenty of features as standard. The DB11 gets an all LED headlamps along with LED daytime running lamps. Towards the side profile the DB11 gets 20 inch alloy wheels while the rear profile also gets completely new LED taillamps. Inside the Coupe gets a completely new 12-inch full-colour TFT LCD display and also a 8-inch TFT screen for the infotainment system.
The exotic Sportscar is priced at INR 4.2 crores (ex-showroom Delhi)
This was definitely the much awaited supercar of the Indian market for the year 2016. The GT-R was finally launched in India priced at INR. 1.99 Crores (ex showroom).
Before we go into anything else the GT-R gets a twin-turbo 3.8-litre V6 engine which churns out a maximum of 562bhp of peak power and develops 637Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired to a 6 speed automatic gearbox which sends power to all the four wheels. The engine is capable of making the car sprint from 0-100 km/h mark in under 3.0 seconds making it the fastest in our list.
The best part of this Coupe is that it offers 2+2 seats for the passengers inside. The car is powerful than ever before and also offers a much more premium looking cabin equipped with highest quality materials.
This car which was unveiled at the 2016 New York Motor show is now finanly available at a Nissan showroom near you.
