Tata Nano

Production: 2008 to present

The Tata Nano surely is one car which deserves the top spot in our prestigious list. Tata Motors actually decided to build a really affordable car so that almost every Indian family can own one. Well! We have to agree that this was surely a noble effort from Tata Motors and what was the even more surprising was the fact that the Nano when launched in the Indian market was actually priced 1, 00, 000 rupees earning it the title of "world’s cheapest car". However the price increased initially but even today it still is the cheapest car of India.

When the production began in 2008 Tata Motors motive was actually aiming to lure those middle class customers who actually ride motorcycles. Until 2014 the car was produced at Uttarpara Plant in Kolkata. Since its launch the sedan has received plenty of changes and even many models and versions as well. The car used 1.5 Litre petrol engine back in the 1990’s which was later replaced by 1.8 Litre engine. The engines which were available till the last were the entry level 1500 diesel followed by the 1800 ISZ, 2000 DSZ and the most powerful of the lot the 2000 DSZ Turbo.

MAHINDRA SCORPIO

Mahindra is perhaps one particular auto brand who has left huge impact not only in the Indian automotive market but International auto market as well. They established and made name in the Indian market as the Jeep manufacturers. Later they also left their mark in the light commercial vehicle sector and agricultural tractor sectors. The company also built and assembled Military vehicles as well. One of their very first products which not only left its mark in India but Global markets as well was the [Scorpio-article154698].

The best part is that it was designed and built in India. It entered production in 2002 and since then this car has won many prestigious awards. The SUV which is on sale in the Indian market is the third generation vehicle which itself speaks of its success. The 2.2 Litre, 4 cylinder unit is capable of churning out about 120 Bhp of peak power, the engine is paired to both 5 speed manual while there is also a 6 speed automatic transmission on offer too which sends power to both two wheels as well as four wheels.

DC AVANTI

DC designs is an Indian design farm headed by Dilip Chhabria really made Indians proud when he actually decided to build a sportscar in India. The engine is paired to a 6 speed manual gearbox. If we are talking about sporstcar we surely need to talk about performance figures as well, the DC Avanti is able to sprint from 0-100 km/h mark in 6 seconds while its top speed is limited to 200 Km/h mark.

There is no doubt that the DC Avanti surely make us Indian proud keeping in mind the fact that this is one sportscar which has been developed entirely in India.
