Aditya Patel wins final race in Shanghai
Audi India’s racing talent Aditya Patel, won the final race in the Audi R8 LMS cup in Shanghai. The sixth round of the Audi R8 LMS cup was the host of two races and a support race to the World Endurance Championship as well. The race one did not go quite well for Aditya. He had some engine trouble in the practice session, and then he qualified second, alongside Alex Yoong who defended the title in Shanghai.
Although soon after that Aditya was penalized for some technical infringement, which shoved him to 17th spot on the grid. Albeit he performed very well and moved up to 9th place and set the fastest lap of the race which put him on pole position for race two. From there Aditya consistently perform well to build a comfortable gap over championship rivals Alex Yoong, Franky Cheng and Marchy Lee. Although he finished the championship as fourth overall, as former Formula One driver, Alex Yoong clinched the Champion title of the Audi R8 LMS Cup.
Later, commenting on his performance, Aditya was saying, “It’s been a crazy year and there’s no better way than to top it off with a pole to flag victory in the final race! The team did a fantastic job to get the car ready for qualifying. The penalty after qualifying meant a change in strategy, and it turned out to be perfect! I’d like to thank Audi China for giving me the opportunity to race in the cup as well as my sponsors, Audi India, JK Tyres and Jubilant Motorworks for their support through the years.”
