With the 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo wrapping up in 24 hours and all the new models launched and concepts revealed we have seen the best and worst of the 2016 edition of the biennial auto event. This year’s Auto Expo was certainly the biggest and largest of its history. And as we have seen the exotic machines up close personally we take the opportunity to make list of the best of the show.

Ford Mustang is one of the most iconic cars of all time in the automotive history. Now Ford has already revealed the Mustang in India they showcased the iconic Mustang at the 2016 Auto Expo, which has been a huge crowd puller. The sixth generation Mustang is gorgeous and powerful as well bringing the same old charm of muscle car. With the launch scheduled in the second quarter of 2016 Ford will only sell the GT variant of the Mustang in India. The Mustang GT gets power from a 5.0 litre V8 engine which comes mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission with steering mounted paddle shifters. The powertrain kicks out 435 bhp peak power and 524 Nm peak torque. The Mustang GT will be sold as a CBU and it will bar a price tag around INR. 80 lakhs.

Sports cars are something Indian people are showing keen interest now a days, and automakers are trying to capture the segment pretty fast. This is why we have seen so many GT variants unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016. Nissan unveiled their popular muscle car GT-R at the 2016 Auto Expo and the car will make it to Indian market in coming September. The powerful sports car is popularly known as the Godzilla. At the Auto Expo people showed huge interest toward this car, and no wonder the dark red Nissan GT-R was the biggest attraction at the Nissan pavilion. The car gets power from a handcrafted 3.8 litre twin turbo V6 engine paired with 6 speed dual clutch transmission, which delivers 538 bhp peak power and 463 peak torque. The Nissan GT-R comes with a top speed of 315 kmph.

Audi R8 V10 Plus is the more powerful version of the sports coupe. The German automaker launched the sports coupe at the 2016 Auto Expo. Indian national cricket star Virat Kohli was present at the launch of this car, but well before his presence the yellow Audi R8 V10 Plus garnered much hype. The new variant is stylish and gorgeous indeed, and it comes with an unmatchable appearance. If I have to describe this car in one single sentence, I would say; “Neighbour’s envy, owner’s pride.” The car is powered by a 5.2 litre FSI V10 Quattro engine paired with a 7 speed S-tronic transmission which pumps out 610 bhp peak power and 560 Nm peak torque. It can reach 0-100 kmph in just 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 330 kmph. The stunning car gets a price tag of whooping INR. 2.47 crore.

Luxury is the other name of Jaguar cars. At the Jaguar Land Rover pavilion of Auto Expo 2016 Jaguar XE was the centre of attraction. The dark red Jaguar XE was a huge crowd puller from the day one of the event. Jaguar has fitted this car with two differently tuned 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engines, which produces 197 bhp and 237 bhp peak power. The fine tuned petrol portfolio variant gets an 8 speed automatic gearbox and it can reach 0-100 kmph in just 6.8 seconds. The luxury sedan will be offered at a price tag of INR. 39.90 lakhs.

Toyota Innova is undoubtedly the most popular and best selling MPV of India, as Toyota already launched the new generation Innova in Indonesia earlier, hype for this car was spectacular. The new generation Innova has been unveiled as the Innova Crysta and it will be launched in mid 2016. New Toyota Innova looks pretty appealing with its new urban styling, the interior is all about comfort and space. The Toyota Innova Crysta comes with a 2.4 litre GD diesel engine paired with a 5 speed manual gearbox which kicks out 147 bhp peak power and 342 Nm peak torque. There will be a 6 speed automatic variant as well which will deliver 360 Nm peak torque. Apart from this we spotted a 2.8 litre GD diesel variant at the Auto Expo 2016 which delivers 174.6 bhp peak power.

Tata Zica has been the talk of the town for quite a few months. The new compact hatchback comes with a fresh look and design, which not only comes impressive but appealing also. From the front grille to the tail lamps everything is perfect and this car was the prime point of the Tata Motors pavilion at the Auto Expo 2016. Although just after the Auto Expo began, Tata Motors announced they will change the name Zica, but this compact little cute looking car has already established its name as Zica in the mind of people. The car is designed with IMPACT design theme. This car will be available with two different engines, a 1.05 litre Revotorq 3 cylinder diesel unit paired with 5 speed manual transmission, churning out 69 bhp peak power and 140 Nm peak torque. There is a 1.2 litre Revotron 3 cylinder unit as well, which is also paired with a 5 speed manual transmission and kicks out 84 bhp peak power and 114 Nm peak torque.

Although Tata Aria couldn’t impress the Indian buyers, but its successor Tata Hexa comes premium looking and appealing to the urban buyers. Tata showcased the large car at the Auto Expo, and honestly the car looks good. Tata used design and technology cues from the Land Rover, there the Hexa brings lot of points to impress the buyers. The large SUV comes with honeycomb mesh front grille, fresh looking fog lamps and air dams, LED tail lamps. The interior gets bulky dashboard, captain seats at the middle row, ambient lighting. Overall the car sports a bold and muscular appearance with off-roading capabilities. Power comes from a 2.2 litre 4 cylinder VARICOR diesel engine paired with a 6 speed manual transmission. This powertrain kicks out 154 bhp peak power and 400 Nm peak torque. The same powertrain can be seen under the hood of Tata Safari Storme VARICOR 400.

Honda BR-V is the new offering from the Japanese automaker and it is mentioned as the Active Sport Crossover. The BR-V was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 and as we have seen it, this car comes with several resemblances with the Honda Mobilio MPV. The BR-V gets power from a 1.5 litre iVTEC petrol engine and a 1.5 litre iDTEC diesel unit as well. The iVTEC engine produces 118 bhp peak power and 145 Nm peak torque. The transmission duty is done by either a 6 speed manual gearbox, or a CVT automatic.

Since Volkswagen first gave hint about an all new compact sedan Indian market has been waiting eagerly for this car, and finally they unveiled the much awaited Ameo compact sedan at the Auto Expo. The car is built for Indian market specifically and it is their first compact sedan offering in the market. The sub-4 metre compact sedan has been the talk of the town, and when it unveiled, we have seen the car looks like Volkswagen Polo from the front and at the rear the car looks like VW Vento. Although from the side view the differences can be seen and the car comes with two powertrain options. A 1.2 litre 3 cylinder MPI petrol unit which will kick out 74 bhp peak power and 110 Nm peak torque, while the 1.5 litre 4 cylinder TDI diesel engine will deliver 88.7 bhp peak power and 230 Nm peak torque.

Hyundai has been doing very well with heir Creta, and taking inspiration from that they have now unveiled the Tucson SUV which will be making it to Indian market soon. The Tucson is one stylish SUV which sits above Creta and below the Santa Fe. This car has garnered pretty much footfall around it and the car gets power from both petrol and diesel powertrains as option. The car gets power from a 2.0 litre CRDi engine kicking out 182.5 bhp peak power and 420 Nm peak torque while there will be a 1.7 litre CRDi Blue Drive engine pumping out 114 bhp peak power and 280 Nm peak torque. The transmission duty will be done by a 6 speed manual garbox, and an automatic gearbox as well. This car gets a FWD and an AWD setup as well.
