2016 Toyota Innova Crysta
The Toyota Innova surely set a new standard in the MPV market of India, this vehicle also replaced the Toyota Qualis which itself was also a very successful product from the Japanese automaker and known for its capability of transporting large family from one place to another comfortably. The Toyota Innova replaced the Toyota Qualis and instantly became a hit and popular for its spacious and quality interior.
Things were going well for this people mover until recently the MPV market took a whole new turn after Maruti Suzuki entered the market with their new offering called Ertiga in 2012, while Honda later introduced the Mobilio. Although there are few other offerings from Chevrolet and Nissan but honestly they are not as popular compared to the above mentioned names. The best things about the new generation MUV’s are that they are the cheaper alternative to the ageing and comparatively expensive Innova which existed in the market for a long time.
Now that its backdated styling has taken its toll in its sales figures Toyota decided that this was the best time to introduce the next generation people mover to the scene.
The new generation Innova’s images and details surfaced online recently when Toyota unveiled the car in Indonesia and later launched it there. Now that almost all the information and details are available we have decided to give you the first impression of this people mover.

At the recently concluded Auto Expo 2016, Toyota showcased the new Innova christened as Innova Crysta. The car looked identical to the one we have seen in the Indonesian website. The Crysta badging is probably an effort to give the new Innova a more distinguished identity. The new generation Innova looks sharp and upmarket, way more stylish than the previous model and it gets plenty of new updates as well
Update 08.08.2016:- Toyota introduced the Petrol variant of the Innova Crysta in India. The Innova Crysta petrol is available with three trims including the GX, VX and the top end Z trim. The top end Z trim is available only with automatic transmission.

2016 Volkswagen Cross Polo
Volkswagen Polo is certainly one of the most popular hatchbacks available in Indian market. The German automaker made hatchback sports a premium appearance with appealing features. The car being a bestselling model fetched attention from different segments. Crossovers are the latest trend in automotive sector. Several automakers have been selling their popular cars with side body cladding, which make the cars look muscular and off-road capable. Volkswagen also tried their hand in making the Polo capable for off-roading duty by manufacturing Cross Polo, which is a standard Polo with some typical off-roading capability.
Volkswagen introduced the Polo compact hatchback way back in 1975. The car has been a very popular model around the globe for the German automaker. In June 2010 Volkswagen introduced the Cross Polo, which was the fourth member Polo range. The 2016 Volkswagen Cross Polo was showcased at the 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo earlier this year in February. Three door Volkswagen Polo GTI spotted testing in Pune
German automaker Volkswagen is all set to introduce the most powerful hot hatchback of the country in a few months in form of Polo GTI, which will be the first three door hot hatchback of India. Prior to launch the car has been spotted testing near Pune.
The Polo GTI will mark the entry of Volkswagen into the country’s performance oriented car segment. Unveiled at the 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo earlier this year the Volkswagen Polo GTI is powered by a 1.8 litre TSI four cylinder petrol engine which will churn out 189 hp of peak power and 250 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duty will be done by a 7 speed DSG automatic gearbox, and power will be sent to the front wheels. The car is able to accelerate 0 – 100 kmph in 6.7 seconds, with a top speed of 236 kmph.
The Volkswagen Polo GTI three door model comes with identical looking sharp headlamp clusters with integrated LED daytime running lights, which are different looking. The headlamps are equipped with automatic range adjustment technology, headlight washers, and static cornering function for the fog lamps. The front air intake sports honeycomb grille. The Polo GTI sports GTI specific front bumper. At the rear the car comes with twin exhausts, tinted taillights. 2016 Honda BR-V
When Honda India unveiled their budget crossover, the BR-V, at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, it marked the Japanese automaker’s entry into a segment that has been facing competition from a various spectrum of brands. But with Honda’s reliability and refinement, and the famous Crossover architecture, can the BR-V open the doors of Honda’s success in this segment? Well, we try to answer just that!
Compact SUVs and crossovers are a very popular trend in the Indian market and thus, this segment has become one of the most lucrative market spaces. In recent past we have seen almost every other auto maker launching their models in the segment, with each one of them getting positive response from the market. The Indian crossover market was fueled with the launch of the Renault Duster in India, which provided a tasteful combination of car like ride and SUV like presence. Then, a few years later, Hyundai launched the Creta, which was instantly deemed a big hit. The Japanese auto makers like Mitsubishi and Toyota are all set to bring their own models in the near future. But there is one more Japanese auto giant, which was highly awaited to join the Crossover party.
Honda has been in the Indian market for quite a long time, but they didn’t actually try their hands in the compact SUV or Crossover segment. The Honda CR-V, though a crossover, has never been a popular model among Indian customers, especially due to the fact that Honda never gave it a diesel mill, and it was priced exorbitantly.
As the scenario has changed in the last couple of years, Honda is trying to grab a larger share of the Indian automobile market. At the recent 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo, we saw the Japanese auto maker unveil their highly anticipated budget crossover, the Honda BR-V, which has been launched already in several countries in South East Asia. Honda has managed to rope in exceptional sales from the BR-V in neighboring ASEAN countries, and the Japanese giant is expecting to carry forward this success in India as well.
But before the official Honda BRV launch date in India, we put it to a detailed test to find out whether the new Honda Crossover is capable of stirring up the existing market player.
Update 5.05.2016: Honda BR-V launched in India. We have updated the review with new information and images.
Spec comparison: Toyota Innova Crysta vs Tata Hexa
Toyota has finally launched the Innova Crysta in India on 2nd May. The new Innova looks sharp and way much more stylish compare to the old generation of Toyota Innova. With a decade’s success under the sleeve of Innova the new Innova Crysta will take the game upwards. The Toyota Innova Crysta was first showcased in India earlier this year at the 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo, where Tata Motors showcased the Tata Hexa.
Tata Hexa is the updated and heavily restyled Tata Aria. The Indian origin automaker launched the Tata Aria few years back with lot of expectation, although the car couldn’t fetch a good amount of sales figure. Therefore Tata Motors decided to introduce an all new car in form of the Tata Hexa.
The Hexa will take on the newly launched Toyota Innova Crysta. Now let’s see how these two cars take on each other.
2016 Tata Tiago
Hatchbacks have always been a popular car architecture, especially in the Indian market. Being affordable to buy, cheap to maintain, and easy to drive around, hatchbacks are the most preferred medium of transport for small families. The Indian market has already been flooded with plenty of cars in this particular segment, coming from different auto manufacturers around the world. But our homegrown car maker Tata Motors has gone under the dust in the past few years. The hatchback segment was once stirred by Tata when it launched the original Indica, back in 1998. But with increasing competition, the company just couldn’t keep up to satisfy the customer’s changing needs and priorities.
Come year 2014, and we saw an aggressive marketing strategy from Tata when they launched the Bolt hatch, which was a significantly improved product in almost all fields. The Bolt was developed with cumulative inputs from Tata’s Research and Design centres located in UK, Italy and Pune. But owing to its egg-like structure, the Bolt was perceived to be a redressed Indica. This, along with the fact that Tata bluntly priced it too close to the Maruti Swift, was the primary reason behind the Tata Bolt’s limited sales run.
But when Tata took the veils off their all-new hatch in late 2015, we Indians were in for a surprise. Yes, there was already news of Tata developing an all-new product, but none of us knew that the Indian manufacturer would finally say goodbye to its favorite Indica-like design philosophy. And farewell is what Tata actually did! The Tiago surprised everyone with its fresh new looks, and people started waiting for this new Tata hatchback with baited breath.
Initially called the Zica, this new hatchback was soon renamed to Tiago, after the infamous deadly Zika virus breakout. Just like its name, the Tiago hatchback definitely has a sporty and dynamic appearance. What is even more interesting is the fact that Tata used its new ‘IMPACT’ design language to design and fabricate the Tiago. In addition to a refreshing design theme, the Tiago also promises to deliver enhanced driving dynamics along with new innovative features.
The Tiago not only excels in styling and dynamics in this particular segment but also brings with it satisfying performance. The new hatchback is offered with a newly developed Revotron 1.2 Litre petrol and an all-new Revotorq 1.05 Litre diesel unit. Both these engines are paired to a 5 speed manual gearbox, while an AMT (automated manual transmission) option will likely be introduced in the near future. What is even more interesting is the fact that the Tiago comes with Multi Drive modes which are the first in its segment. This will help the driver to optimize the engine’s behavioral characteristics as per his/her driving requirements, in order to deliver optimum fuel economy along with a peppy and high spirited driving experience.
Update 06.04.2016:- Tata launched the Tiago hatchback in India today, the prices and variant-wise feature details have been updated
