2017 Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R Refresh
We already have reported few days earlier that Suzuki was planning to introduce the next generation Wagon-R soon. The leaked images of the next generation hatchback were also doing rounds on the internet and also on Japanese social media channels. We also have provided you all the information which is available about the new Japanese spec Wagon-R in our overview article. That said, we were actually quite surprised when we found out that Autos Arena in their latest reports said, Maruti actually has no plans to introduce the next generation Wagon-R in India anytime soon but instead of launching the new generation hatchback they have decided to give some updates to the old car and launch it as the new 2017 model.
The biggest news is that the new updated 2017 model will actually be based on their current Stingray variant. While the Stingray nameplate will be taken off their product chart. Furthermore the lineup will now also have a new top end variant as well.
The big decision was taken by Maruti Suzuki after they realized that the Stingray sells in very few numbers. What is even more surprising is also the fact that most of the dealers have now even stopped taking bookings for the top of the line Stingray variant.
Before we get into any other details let us inform you all that the updated 2017 Wagon-R model will be renamed as Wagon-R Refresh and it will be on sale in the Indian market soon.

2017 Maruti Swift Racer RS Concept
Suzuki unveiled the all new generation Swift hatchback in Japan towards the last week of December 2016 and being one of the most popular models of the Indian market expect this all new hatchback to make it to the Indian shores by the second half of 2017. But before that at the Tokyo Motor Salon Suzuki has showcased the slightly sportier Concept variant of the Swift hatchback. Dubbed as the Swift Racer RS this sportier variant of the hatch gets new livery and some added cosmetic updates over the standard variant.
There were rumours that Suzuki has plans to introduce a slightly sportier and powerful variant of the Swift hatchback. Although still in its concept form there is a fair chance of the production variant of this concept car making it to the Indian market sometimes in the near future. This may compete directly with some other hot hatchbacks of India like that of Fiat.
