2017 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Select Plus edition
Mitsubishi introduced a special edition of their popular Pajero Sport in India. Dubbed as Pajero Sport Select Plus the SUV is offered in the Indian market in both 4x2 automatic and 4x4 manual variant respectively. This special edition SUV gets few cosmetic updates and some interior updates inside the cabin.
Currently, Mitsubishi offers two products for the Indian market which includes the Pajero Sport and the Outlander. The previous generation SUV was quite popular in the Indian market for its robust exterior and off road capabilities. However, the new generation SUV failed to win the trust of the people because of poor marketing and limited dealers across the Country.
Like we said this particular limited edition SUV is available in both four wheels and two-wheel drive and is priced about 1.19 lakh above the equivalent standard AT and manual variant.

Seven Popular Cars which Are Making A comeback Soon!
Remember the good old times, not more than a decade ago, when the Indian car market was much lesser crowded than what it was. The first 10 years of the 21st century saw the advent of most of the big giants in the country, which initiated their journey with some world class products which were much popular overseas. However, call it the end of their long lifecycle, their much-ahead-of-the-time or their ill fate of not being received with open hands, most of these globally hit cars died off after a time frame.
Thankfully, all their parent manufacturers still have some soft corners in their hearts for these cars, which is why some of them are making a full-fledged comeback, in all new generation models. These cars will now feature massive changes in and out and are planning to now shake up the well-settled up segment, rather than just creating them what their previous generation models did. Following is a list of seven such previously available cars which are making a comeback in 2017 in the Indian car market:-
11 SUV’s in Indian Market That No one Actually Buys Well Almost!
The Indian car market has always been one tough battlefield to conquer. While it has proved to be a big game changer for many car manufacturers and products, which due to their performance in the Indian market have gained a huge reputation worldwide, there have been some names which have been struggling very hard to make their impact, yet are being accepted by a handful of buyers.
Today is the time of SUVs in the Indian market – SUVs of all sizes and dimensions. In this immensely popular category of cars, there are still a number of products of whose sales numbers are even lower than the number of fingers in both your hands. In this feature story, we are going to throw some light on those SUVs which literally have extremely few or very lower number of buyers in the market. Here is that list of those unfortunate SUVs.
Mitsubishi Motors cheated fuel economy test
Mitsubishi has revealed that they cheated the fuel economy tests in several of its small cars. Shockingly, not only the Mitsubishi cars, the brand cheated the fuel economy test for some Nissan models also, which Mitsubishi manufactured as a part of deal with Nissan.
The Mitsubishi has manipulated the fuel efficiency data of nearly 6.25 lakh cars, which include 4.68 lakh Nissan cars and 1.57 lakh Mitsubishi cars. Mostly the small cars from the brand have been affected with the cheating. This scam came under light when Nissan tested the delivered cars at its own facility and found different fuel economy results than the Mitsubishi stated data. Now the Japanese brand has apologized to its customers and stakeholders as well as to Nissan also. They are preparing to compensate the Nissan, and the company will also recall the affected cars which were mostly sold in Japan’s domestic market. Later on the Mitsubishi will investigate the exported cars as well. As an impact due to the scam Mitsubishi’s share fell by 15% in Tokyo, which is the largest share fall for the automaker in last year 12%. Earlier, Hyundai, Kia and Ford cheated the fuel economy tests. In those cases Hyundai and Kia agreed to pay a fine of $350 million to the US government.
Popular and powerful sub-30 lakh SUVs in India
Indian customers are known for their love for SUVs. At the same time they want better space, loads of features, off-roading capability, tough look and of course a stylish appearance. Well, no wonder, SUVs provide all of these to the customers. While the compact SUV segment is getting popular with every passing day, due to the easy affordability, the higher priced large SUVs are also quite popular among customers. Such three SUVs under the sub 30 lakh price bar are Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. Toyota Fortuner is certainly the most popular SUV in the segment and it is also the best sold model.
Although Chevrolet has stopped production of Trailblazer in American market, but they definitely have different plans for some other regions of the earth. Chevrolet India is all set to launch the Trailblazer in India in a few days, and as the Indian people at large have a praising eye for muscular SUVs, Chevrolet is hopeful about becoming quite a major contender to get ample space in the SUV segment of Indian automobile market.
Chevrolet might be very much hopeful about becoming a major player in SUV segment of Indian automobile scenario, but they are also set for tough competition from already well established players like Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Toyota Fortuner. Evidently, Toyota Fortuner is the most popular and highest sold SUV in Indian market; therefore it will be the toughest contender against the upcoming Chevrolet Trailblazer.
Here, we brought you a spec sheet based comparison between these three muscular SUVs – Chevrolet Trailblazer, Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
It is not every day you come across such inspirational stories but when you do, it is worth mentioning.
We all know that cancer is one of the most feared and deadliest diseases. This video shows the story of a man named Jon Livermore who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Many people have died due to the disease.
During times like these, people usually prefer to do what they have always loved to do and keeps them happy and occupied. This helps them relax their minds and help them fight the disease better. That’s exactly what Jon did.
Jon, with the help of his friends and family, worked on his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX project car. He worked tirelessly even after his chemotherapy sessions. The car features carbon fibre parts and it produces 702 bhp and 800 Nm of torque.
His favourite car, sometime back, would have been the Lamborghini Countach. But after living in Asia for a while, it turned to be the Lancer Evolution. The Evo is a favourite among tuners and many cars have been modified. The car was launched in 1992 and after 10 generations, it will be discontinued at the end of this year.
Jon Livermore has since been completely cured of the deadly disease.
Earlier we brought you the teaser of new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. This time we got the vehicle caught off guard, without any camouflage just before its world premiere at 2015 Bangkok International Grand Motor Sale on 1st August. As the auto manufacturer has started making promotional ad films for this new car, we got some spyshots straight from the streets of Thailand, which just showed us the vehicle all bared before its grand launch.
As we saw in the pictures, the all new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport aka Challenger comes with swept wing headlamps, larger lower intake. This vehicle comes with auto manufacturer’s new “Dynamic Shield” front fascia design which is also available on new Outlander. Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is highly inspired by the Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck, but in the front profile new Pajero Sport adorns horizontal chrome grilles, unlike Triton’s vertical ones along with slender and sleek headlamps, LED daytime running lights. The vehicle has six spoke alloy wheels, as well as the B and C pillars completely blackened out. At the rear we can see the dashing tail lamps, which are shaped like an arrow facing toward the front direction, and has a tail, which goes all down to the bottom edge of the tail gate.
Although the Japanese company kept a mum on the engine specifications of this car, but it may come equipped with the same powertrain like the new Triton, which is 2.4 liter four cylinder turbo diesel MIVEC engine, mated with either a six speed manual or five speed automatic transmission, which churns out 161 PS power and 430 Nm torque. Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will fiercely compete with soon to be launched next generation Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Chevrolet Trailblazer. Indian market will get this car in next year only.
Mitsubishi has teased the next generation Pajero Sport for the first time. The new Pajero is expected to take design bits from the GR-HEV concept. The GR-HEV concept was initially shown at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and features the Dynamic Shield design which is also seen on the 2016 Outlander as well. Even with curvy round bits, the SUV still retains its bold and dominant appearance.
The 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is based on the company’s Triton pickup truck and the two vehicles are expected to share many parts including the cabin and the engine. The fifth generation of the car that’s also called the Montero will be powered by a 2.4 litre MIVEC diesel engine producing 178.5 HP and 430 Nm of torque and is expected to come loaded with new equipment.
The new car is due to be unveiled on August 1st 2015 in Thailand but expect this SUV to hit Indian shores by the end of 2016 at the earliest. After its release, the SUV will compete against the 2015 Ford Endeavour and the 2016 Toyota Fortuner.
Mitsubishi as a manufacturer may not have left its mark in the Indian market but its SUV the Pajero Sport surely did. On 14th November 2014 Mitsubishi launched their Pajero Sport Automatic in India priced at INR. 23.55 Lakhs (ex showroom Delhi).
This new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport beside getting the all new 5 speed automatic gearbox also comes with few exterior updates as well, which comes in the form of a new chrome grille at the front, redesigned front bumpers and fog lamps surrounds, beside that everything else remains almost similar to the ongoing version. Unfortunately Mitsubishi is offering the 5 speed Automatic gearbox which also comes with paddle shifters located behind the steering wheel only with the 4X2 variant whereas the 4X4 variant is available with the same 5 speed manual gearbox (The Manual variant is priced at INR. 23.80 Lakhs). Powering the Pajero Sport is a 2.5-litre 16-valve, intercooled, turbocharged DOHC engine which produces about 175 bhp of peak power and a meaty 400 Nm of torque.
Inside the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport you will also find few changes which includes a completely new infotainment system which also comes with a new multi information display, Reverse Parking Camera and an automatic climate control (expect all these new features to be available with the top end Automatic trim only).
The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Automatic will take on its other competitors like the recently launched Hyundai Santa Fe and the mighty Toyota Fortuner.
Like every other auto manufacturer of the Country Mitsubishi too wanted to strike the right chords during this festive season and that is perhaps the reason why they have launched a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport with two dual tone shades and few interior and exterior upgrades.
The two paint shades are flame red-white and lemon yellow-white, and not only the Pajero Sport has received new paint shades it also gets outside rear view mirrors with integrated turn signals while inside the cabin the Pajero sport gets DVD display and cooler box.
Now Hindustan Motors Finance Corporation Ltd (HMFCL) is entirely responsible for building and selling Mitsubishi products in India and HMFCL Managing Director, Mr. Uttam Bose, said, that they always have been customer oriented and they evaluate and anticipate the consumers likings and disliking and make changes to the products accordingly. He also included that consumers liked the idea of duel tone Pajero Sport and this new concept is also drawing lot of new consumers towards it.
You all are quite aware of the fact that the Mitsubishi Pajero sport is one solid looking SUV which also has some serious offroading DNA engulfed in it. The Pajero Sport is available with a 2.5 liter 16 Valve intercooled turbocharged DOHC common rail DI-D diesel engine option which produces about 178 Ps of peak power at 4000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque in between 2000 – 2500 rpm. The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is prced at INR 23,50,000 (Ex-Showroom Delhi).

Mitsubishi’s India operations have been through difficult times. Despite a line up complete with mid-size sedans, medium- size SUV in the form of the Outlander and a premium product like the famous Pajero Sport and Montero, but somehow the company’s strategy for India seems to have failed to generate big business. As we speak, the Cedia has been pulled out of the market and the Outlander hasn’t got a cheerful story to tell either. The Pajero Sport however has sort of hung on, while there are a hardly few takers for the Montero.
Now, Mitsubishi is believed to be readying a replacement for the famous Pajero. Car Sensor, a Japanese website has posted a digital rendering of what could be the next Mitsubishi Pajero. According to the publication, the new Pajero will be based on the concept GC-PHEV that saw the light of day back in November of 2013 at the Tokyo Motor Show.
When in production, the next generation Pajero will use a four-cylinder diesel engine. The surprising fact about this car however is that it will be a hybrid, the system will use an electric motor placed under the boot which will be driven by a bank of lithium ion batteries. At cruising speeds, the Pajero will run on electricity. Thanks to the torquey electric motor, the Pajero should be highly effective even on rough grounds.
Will the new Pajero in hybrid guise live up to its legacy? Tell us what you think in the comments section below.

Mitsubishi has now officially confirmed that the new Pajero Sport will get an automatic variant by the month of September-October 2014. Thus, the Japanese car maker could be prepping for a launch ahead of the festive season of Diwali.
Earlier reports pointed out to a post March 2014 launch for the Pajero Sport Automatic. Now, it seems the launch is still a long way away. The Pajero Sport is currently the best selling Mitsubishi product in India after the Cedia was discontinued.
The brute SUV employs a 2.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The absence of an automatic transmission does make the hefty Pajero Sport a bit cumbersome in tight spaces, especially in city traffic. This is about to change.

When nothing seemed to be working for Mitsubishi and their Indian partners at Hindustan Motors, along came the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport which sort of stabilized their business here in the subcontinent.
Still, competition is fierce and with players like Toyota with the Fortuner, it has been tough for the Pajero Sport to gain some ground on the popular Toyota SUV. While, it would tough to beat the Fortuner, Mitsubishi is still trying their best to woo customers to the brand.
Hindustan Motors’ Chairman has now confirmed that the Pajero Sport will get an automatic variant in the next fiscal year. The addition of an automatic version would certainly help boost sales for the brand. The strategy has worked well for Toyota and given the initial response to the Pajero Sport, things could move in the positive direction.
"The company has finalised an agreement with its long time collaborator Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, Japan to launch an automatic version of the renowned SUV Pajero Sport," Hindustan Motors Chairman, C K Birla said.

This is a 4500 square feet showroom which also has a 6750 square feet service workshop, so that it can accommodate a much large set of Mitsubishis for service.
The Mitsubishi Outlander is one of the reliable and toughest SUV from Mitsubishi after the Pajero. The updated version of the Outlander was launched recently in the year 2012 in the Indian market. The Outlander first made its official appearance in the year 2001 and it still is one of the most popular SUV from the Mitsubishi stable.
The new Outlander is powered by a 2.4 litre, 2360 cc DOHC 16 valve MPI MVIEC engine which generates 170 PS of maximum power at 6000 rpm and 226 NM of torque at 4100 RPM. There are no other engine options for the vehicle. Let’s get to find out some more details about this muscular looking SUV.
Mitsubishi Pajero is one of the successful SUV’s that Mitsubishi offered. The first generation SUV was launched in the year 1996. Over the years lots of new innovative features and technology have been included in the SUV but the rough and tough internal rallying DNA of the Pajero is still intact, and its solid built exteriors and comfortable interiors says it all. The 2012 Pajero was launched by the Japanese manufacturer in collaboration with Hindustan motors of India. The second generation Mitsubishi Pajero offers a powerful and capable 4 wheel drive.
The second generation pajero is powered by a 2.5 Litre 16-VALVE Inter-cooled Turbocharged DOHC COMMON RAIL Diesel engine generates 178 PS of maximum power at 4000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque between 2000 and 2500 Rpm . The engine has been modified to deliver better fuel efficiency without missing out on its performance.
If there is a manufacturer which ought to be happy and benefit from our list then it’s got to be Hyundai. Perceptions about Hyundai couldn’t have been more different from what our list suggests. Out of the 9 cars on our list of the fastest accelerating cars to 100kmph in India, 3 are Hyundai’s. In India and internationally Hyundai’s are known to provide value for money amongst other thing. ButHyundai’s aren’t considered to be tailored towards enthusiasts. Surprisingly enough and going against the flow, some of the fastest cars in India are Hyundai’s. There are also 2Skoda’s in our list which isn’t a surprise and the Laura has been praised by all automotive publications for its handling and performance. The Mitsubishi Cedia also finds its way which though might not surprise many readers but it would surprise some who had assumed that the Cedia was now out of production. Volkswagen is represented by the Polo 1.6 which is amongst the few aspirational cars in India. Another interesting entry worth noting is the Volvo S60 T6 which is a highly underestimated car but surprisingly there is only one BMW amongst the nine cars.
Generally most of our Mitsubishi reviews start by telling you how much the Japanese manufacturer is struggling. And if we want to be a little more positive about their situation, we mention the rich motorsport heritage of the manufacturer. From their glory days in the World Rally Championship and Dakar to their struggle today, Mitsubishi isn’t in a position of strength that it once was. In India their only car which is getting some attention is the Pajero Sport but there is nothing in the volume segment. The Mirage hatch could make a possible entry in India this year and another option to replace theOutlander which has struggled with its petrol engine is the ASX crossover. The ASX is also known as the Outlander Sport in some markets and this compact crossover lifestyle Utility Vehicle could have a reasonable shot at succeeding in India provided the manufacturer can assemble it in our country. Mitsubishi has given their crossover a facelift and if launched and assembled in India the crossover would be priced at Rs 20lakhs onwards.
