Toyota To Launch Innova Crysta Sport In April
Toyota launched their most popular MPV back in 2004, and there is no doubt that there is absolutely no other car in its segment which comes close to this MPV when it comes to its sales figures. Last year Toyota introduced the new generation Innova and christened it as the Innova Crysta. Apart fro the Indian market Toyota also sells the Innova in the markets of Indonesia. Recently they have introduced a top-spec variant of the MPV in their market called the Innova Venturer. Now according to the recent reports, Toyota will launch the same car in the Indian market as well, and it too will be sold as the top spec variant. However, the top spec MPV will be called ‘Touring Sport’.
The car is expected to get the same styling inspiration seen on the Toyota Venturer. On the outside, the Innova Touring sport will get black body claddings on the front bumper as well on the wheel arches towards the side profile. In addition to the bumper, the car also features new side skirts as well which adds a slightly bolder look to the MPV. Expect the new top end variant of the Innova Crysta also to feature chrome embellishments as well across the exterior. Thus expect the front grille of the Innova Crysta to feature chrome surrounds, while the outer ORVM’s and rear bumpers will also get touches of chrome as well. The Innova Crysta Touring Sport variant will also get slightly bigger alloy wheels as well.

India has always been one country, where all the aspects and facts related to unity get affirmed with facts. Be it its cultural and linguistic diversities or the bonds between different generations, everyone has been coexisting with dignified unities. And when it comes to families, the Indians have always shown a warm bonding between all the members, speaking in particular.
Speaking of the automobile industry, given the varying needs of different members of families, the need of a single vehicle complying to all of these needs in a single package has risen in recent times. This is why the segment of multi utility vehicles (MUVs) has seen a positive growth in recent times. This upward growth of MUVs is the reason why all the manufacturers are trying to have a piece of profit in this category, and are not shying off by experimenting too. In the last two years, we have seen everything starting off from a sub four meter compact family wagon to a full fledged luxury seven seater.
In this feature story, we are throwing some light on all the seven seater MUVs which are existing in the Indian market, catering to varying needs of different people, or to be specific, families. Here is a complete list of all the MUVs available in India:-
2016 Toyota Innova Crysta
The Toyota Innova surely set a new standard in the MPV market of India, this vehicle also replaced the Toyota Qualis which itself was also a very successful product from the Japanese automaker and known for its capability of transporting large family from one place to another comfortably. The Toyota Innova replaced the Toyota Qualis and instantly became a hit and popular for its spacious and quality interior.
Things were going well for this people mover until recently the MPV market took a whole new turn after Maruti Suzuki entered the market with their new offering called Ertiga in 2012, while Honda later introduced the Mobilio. Although there are few other offerings from Chevrolet and Nissan but honestly they are not as popular compared to the above mentioned names. The best things about the new generation MUV’s are that they are the cheaper alternative to the ageing and comparatively expensive Innova which existed in the market for a long time.
Now that its backdated styling has taken its toll in its sales figures Toyota decided that this was the best time to introduce the next generation people mover to the scene.
The new generation Innova’s images and details surfaced online recently when Toyota unveiled the car in Indonesia and later launched it there. Now that almost all the information and details are available we have decided to give you the first impression of this people mover.
To begin with let us first inform you that the new generation Innova has been built on a completely new ladder frame platform which also supports the new generation Fortuner and Hilux Revo. As far its drivetrains are concerned the new Innova ditches its KD engines and has gone for downsized GD engines which are actually more powerful as well as fuel efficient at the same time.
At the recently concluded Auto Expo 2016, Toyota showcased the new Innova christened as Innova Crysta. The car looked identical to the one we have seen in the Indonesian website. The Crysta badging is probably an effort to give the new Innova a more distinguished identity. The new generation Innova looks sharp and upmarket, way more stylish than the previous model and it gets plenty of new updates as well
Update 08.08.2016:- Toyota introduced the Petrol variant of the Innova Crysta in India. The Innova Crysta petrol is available with three trims including the GX, VX and the top end Z trim. The top end Z trim is available only with automatic transmission.

The previous generation people mover was a hit amongst the people and so is the new generation which was first showcased infront of the Indian public at the 2016 Auto expo. This new engine will be offered with both six speed manual as well as an automatic transmission at the same time.
The petrol equipped variants will help Toyota to sell the new generation Innova in markets like Delhi and NCR regions where there is a ban on diesel motor above 2.0 Liter. The introduction of petrol engine will help boost the sales of the new Innova even more and that is the reason why Toyota has introduced the new petrol motor sooner than expected.
Expect the manual transmission to be available with GX and VX grades while the automatic petrol variant will be available with top end variants like GX and ZX grades.
2017 Mahindra MPV

The technical centre was established almost two years ago and will develop Mahindra’s vehicles which will be launched both in the national and International markets as well.
Although not much details are available at this moment about this upcoming vehicle but it will be Mahindra’s big step outside the Sports utility vehicle segment. The MPV will most probably be offered with either a 7 or 8 passenger seating configuration. This could even attract the customers of the commercial taxi segment as well.

Maruti-Suzuki Ciaz and Ertiga Score 4 Star Safety Rating in ASEAN NCAP Crash Test
Maruti-Suzuki is the most popular and best selling automotive brand in Indian market. The Ertiga from the Indo Japanese automotive brand is a very popular MPV in Indian market. In the sedan segment the Maruti-Suzuki introduced Ciaz, which was the company’s first take in the luxury segment. Recently several Indian cars have been tested in the Global NCAP crash test, and very unfortunately all the cars have failed to get even one star rating. In wake of that event the four star rating of Ertiga and Ciaz is surely good news. Few days ago the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross also scored pretty well in the crash test.
