We drive both the DSG and MT version of Volkswagen’s new mid-size SUV offering
Under India’s 2.0 Strategy, the Taigun will be the first offering from Volkswagen. It comes across as a powered packed product and I drove the 1.5 TSI mill with both the 7-speed DSG as well as the 6-speed manual. In the following article, I have shared my detailed drive experience of what can truly be called as an exciting driver’s car in the mid-size SUV space.
Audi’s sporty four-door coupé has been launched at ₹1.04 crore ex-showroom
Audi’s RS division has always stood for performance. They in fact used to make some of the best sleeper cars that came out of Germany. Serious performance with subtle understated styling has always been an RS trait. That isn’t the case these days is it? Regardless, it looks like the German Automaker is finally on a roll in India and is finally building back its portfolio after ditching diesels. The Luxury Automaker debuted its latest RS 5 four-door Sportback coupe on Monday and we’re really excited.
It looks like the Ford Bronco’s removable roof comes with rattles and constant squeaks
As you may know, the 2021 Ford Bronco comes with removable roofs and doors. It seems like a pretty nifty feature on an off-roader, but the cons of having a ton of ‘moving’ parts over your head could lead to rattles. You wouldn’t expect it on a rugged off-roader, but the folks at ‘TFLNow’ have encountered this issue. They picked up a Ford Bronco recently and are facing squeaky noises from the roof. A video of the same is uploaded on YouTube, and it sure sounds pretty annoying!
It’s the Polo’s turbocharged engine vs the ZS EV’s instantaneous torque in quarter-mile races
India hasn’t welcomed performance hatches with open arms yet, but there’s one product that has managed to survive without going down. In fact, it’s been on the market for nearly a decade. I’m talking about the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI. This hatch has long been a staple of performance hatches in India. The folks at PowerDrift decided to get this little beast to a drag strip to pit it against an SUV for a couple of straight-line races. The SUV isn’t an ordinary one either. It’s the MG ZS, an electric SUV that offers instantaneous torque and is quick off the line. Can the Polo GT TSI take down the ZS EV?
Hyundai’s latest EV, the Ioniq 5, lands on the Indian soil; but don’t expect it to arrive at the dealerships anytime soon
Hyundai has built its new India headquarters in Gurugram. Haryana’s CM, Manohar Lal Khattar, inaugurated it in the presence of Hyundai India’s MD and CEO, Seon Seob Kim. While this is big news for Hyundai Corporate, for us enthusiasts, the cars there caught our attention. Hyundai noted that the headquarters will have 14 EV charging points, and at one of them, the new Ioniq 5 EV was on display. Given that the Ioniq 5 made its global debut earlier this year, it is surprising to see it in India. Was it just to give the headquarters a little more glamor, or is it a hint that the Ioniq 5 is going to make its Indian debut?

The new Elantra will launch in the month of September in India
There is some good news for the Hyundai fans of India, the US Spec Hyundai Elantra earned top awards from the insurance institute for highway safety. The Insurance institute for highway safety is an independent, nonprofit scientific and educational organization which is dedicated towards reducing the deaths, injuries and property damages caused from crashes on the American roads.
Recently the US Spec Elantra which is also heading towards the Indian market this year has scored the top safety pick plus ratings over the previous generation sedans ratings. According to the institute’s report the previous generation Hyundai Elantra failed to impress them and also score good ratings at the good small overlap rating test. The structure was not impressive and there was maximum intrusion at the occupant’s space of 9 inches. Now compared to the previous car the intrusion level on the new Elantra sedan was only 2 inches. The impressive result was because the car manufacturer has made some changes in their new generation car which included strengthening the junction in between the door sills and the hinge pillars apart from also modifying the front airbags as well.
The top safety ratings were given to the car model which was manufactured after March 2016. The sedan which was tested was also equipped with optional front crash system prevention as well. The crash test was conducted at speeds of 40 km/h while the safety system actually reduced the car’s speed to 36 kph during the time of the collision. This life saving system also completely avoided the collision while it was tested at speeds of 19 km/h.
You can expect the soon to be launched India bound Hyundai Elantra too also come equipped with an improved body shell and plenty of safety features as well for the safety of the occupants inside.
