We are talking about Ratan Naval Tata, the ex chairman of Tata Group. For decades we have seen Mr. Ratan Tata pioneering the Indian automotive industry to a new dimension. It is no surprise, that Ratan Tata has been emotionally attached with Tata Motors. He made the impossible task possible with the Tata Indica and Tata Nano. To put it in a simple way, we can say, Ratan Tata is crazy about cars, in his personal life and professional life as well.
During his tenure as the chairman of Tata Group, he has been spotted many times behind his exotic car’s steering near his residence on South Bombay roads. It is also a known fact that every weekend he takes his cars for a spin. Now, as he has retired from the post, he invests more time for his exotic rides. He is also known as one of the few business tycoons around the world who loves to take the seat behind the steering wheel rather than being seated at the rear and driven by chauffeur. Sporting dynamics and quality, that’s what you want from your convertible. Convertibles are special cars, even in India where the weather isn’t right. There’s no denying the charm of driving with the roof down and the wind in your hair. And for the days when it is simply too hot or dusty, just fold up the metal roof of the SL350. It takes all of 16 seconds for the roof to fold and the SL is one of the most user-friendly sportscar you could buy. SLs do not come along very often and since the model line’s inception in 1954, there have been only five generations. The latest SL is a facelift of the fifth generation, which has been in production since 2001. The Mercedes-Benz SL typically arrives with some of the best in equipment, innovation and luxury that Mercedes has to offer. The SL in India comes with either a 3.5-litre, V6 petrol which is priced at Rs 99,23,954 ex-showroom New Delhi and on offer are also the AMG variants.
After unveiling the SL63 AMG at the recent Geneva motor show, Mercedes Benz has now unveiled the bigger Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG. The 6-litre engine is a reworked version of the old SL65 AMG’s twin-turbocharged V12 and now produces 621PS between 4800 to 5400rpm and a monumental 1000Nm of torque. In India currently on sale is the 5th generation SL and the new SL which was unveiled at the New York Motor Show could be launched in the country later in the year. The car would be priced around 3crores in India.
