Mercedes-Benz have confirmed that a more sportier and funky looking MLC crossover would go into production next year and in the wake of this comment, it is believed that the German car maker would unveil a pre-production prototype at the 2014 New York Auto Salon.
So what is the MLC? It is based on the current generation M-Class and with its swanky character lines and coupe-like profile, it is definitely more stylish than outright practical. The Concept MLC could feature wide wheels arches and a bulging rear end with an aggressive stance. The exterior is expected to be influenced by current design trends at Mercedes-Benz.
The interior too could be an evolution of what we have seen in the past. But don’t expect revolutionary changes here because under the bonnet, the MLC could use the same powertrains as the M-Class. The upcoming Mercedes’ biggest rivals would be the BMW X6 and the yet-to-be-announced Audi Q6. Both of which are based on SUVs that are already in production. Also, the concept aims at offering more style and presence.
The 2015 Mercedes-Benz MLC is touted to enter the American market first. The car is expected to be built alongside the ML and GL-Class models at the Mercedes-Benz factory in the state of Alabama.
