2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG
So, the Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG is Stuttgart’s answer to the Audi RS Q3 and we think it looks better than the Audi for sure but although the Stuggart based rival is not available in India but surely the GLA 45 AMG will be. The GLA is a good example of a crossover coupe with a raked rear windshield and an overall handsome profile.
Now Mercedes Benz has given a lot of importance to the Indian market by bringing in some of their high performance cars in India the last one being the CLA 45 AMG which is well! A more accessible AMG, while there new launch will be the GLA 45 AMG which is the AMG tuned variant of their GLA Class Crossover. Now you can definitely expect a whole lot more punch and performance from this loaded up GLA 45 AMG Variant for sure.
Under the hood of this Crossover is the same engine unit which actually powers the CLA 45 AMG Sports sedan which means that it will also be powered by the 4-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo petrol unit which is also one of the most powerful 2.0 liter petrol engine of the World. The GLA 45 AMG not only gets the powerful engine under the hood but also few other interesting AMG styling treatment from AMG both in its exterior as well interior. This Crossover height although has been lowered than the standard GLA which will definitely hamper its offraoding capability but it surely has an increased performance on road and also on track.

Before we even start with anything else let me just remind you all that the GLA 45 AMG has been tuned by AMG division to make it look different and more aggressive than the standard GLA Class although the GLA 45 AMG uses the same platform and almost everything else with the standard GLA but it still manages to look different from the original Crossover.
At the front of the Crossover you will notice twin blade grille which is actually used only in the AMG variants, this grille also gets the 3 pointed star logo on it, while the rest of the front almost remains identical to the standard GLA but the restyled AMG bumper with bigger air dams on it gives the front of this AMG product a more aggressive stance. Towards the side profile you do get stylish 19 inch wheels which enhance the overall appeal of the car just behind the wheel you cannot miss the shiny red calipers which really gives you a feeling that this crossover is meant for some serious performance.
Towards the rear of the Crossover you will notice a completely different rear diffuser and the quad exhausts. The AMG badges all over the body will help you to recognize that this is an AMG tuned variant.

The GLA 45 AMG definitely gets all the bells and whistles that that you would expect out of an AMG variant but if you are looking for a spacious seat cabin then perhaps you want to stay away from the GLA 45 AMG because with its coupe like roofline the headroom is limited inside and also AMG after installing the sporty seats by replacing the original seats the interior even has become more compact. So definitely the occupants at the rear can complain during long journeys although the manufacturer hgas installed a rear AC vent while it also gets automatic climate control.
This being the AMG version, few would fancy occupying the rear bench, for the front half of the interior is where all the action takes place. The dashboard is from the standard GLA, albeit with an AMG twist. Red contrast stitching, red seat belts and carbon fiber trim, along with black leather makes up majority of the interior.
The COMAND infotainment system has been carried over from the other models and so is the large display unit that sort of floats on the dashboard this display unit is larger than the unit available with the standard vehicle. This being the AMG version, the 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox can be operated via paddles behind the steering wheel and talking about the steering wheel it gets the flat bottomed steering wheel like you get in most other AMG products Oh! and there’s an AMG button too.
The Mercedes GLA45 AMG shares its underpinnings with the A45 and the CLA 45 AMG models. This means, you get the same 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder Turbo charged engine which powers the hatchback and sedan models. Power output peaks at 355 hp at 6000 rpm while the engine also generates 445 Nm of torque in between 2250-5000 rpm. This powerful engine is mated to a a simple 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The specialty of all the AMG products is its engine and I am sure with all that power on tap the compact Crossover won’t disappoint you at all. Talking about the figures the GLA 45 AMG reaches the 100 km/h mark from standstill in just 4.8 seconds now that’s impressive for a vehicle which sits on the lower half of the AMG product range.
The compact crossover is based on a modular architecture that supports all-wheel drive. Much like the A45 AMG, the GLA 45 AMG too uses Mercedes patent 4Matic all-wheel drive system.Moreover, it is a variable all-wheel drive system which electronically controls the torque sent to the rear axle. In normal driving conditions, the GLA45 AMG behaves like any other front-wheel drive car. This AMG version gets heavy-duty axles sprung using a sports suspension setup with stiffer dampers. The steering ratio has been tweaked while cross-drilled discs replace standard rotors. Mercedes-Benz also offers carbon-ceramic discs as an option.

The GLA 45 AMG will be brought in the Indian market via the CBU Route and thus this Crossover won’t come cheap, expect the GLA 45 AMG to be priced in between 70 to 80 Lakh rupee price mark (ex showroom Delhi).
The newest addition to Porsche’s line-up is the Macan compact SUV. Built around the Audi Q5, the Macan is unlike any standard Q5. It packs Porsche DNA and the company claims it to be heck of a sporty crossover that can hit the rough stuff whenever required. The Porsche Macan S costs about the same as the Audi RS Q3. It is powered by an engine that develops 300 horsepower in segment that is slowly being populated by quite a few big names.
The GLA 45 AMG is definitely not as powerful as the rest of the AMG products out there but it surely doesn’t miss a chance to throw some punch when you push the Crossover hard. With the stiffer suspension setup and lower ground clearance the ride quality surely will be bit on the stiffer side but being a Mercedes product I am pretty sure it won’t disappoint you much.
