2017 Mercedes Benz E-Class
Mercedes has been selling the current generation E Class model since the year 2010 and there is no denying that the E-Class is definitely considered as one of the top contenders of the mid-size luxury car segment and perhaps the toughest competitor for the BMW 5 Series and equally popular Audi A6. Mercedes gave the fourth generation E Class a thorough makeover back in 2014 and now it is clear to everyone that they will be introducing a completely new generation car to the scene.
Our photographers were able to capture some spyshots of the recent prototype while it was being tested on road. This is definitely one of the prestigious products for Mercedes and they have left no stones unturned to make the upcoming mid-size luxury sedan one of the most advanced cars of its class. The new E Class is pinned on the MRA platform which also underpins the new C-Class. The new platform makes the new generation E-Class lighter as well as rigid because it uses lot of lightweight materials in its construction.
Under its hood rumors are that it will get new inline 6 cylinder engines which will replace the existing V6 unit, the engine will also be paired to a completely new nine speed automatic transmission as well. So degrading the size of the engines will definitely increase its fuel efficiency but whether the new smaller engines will be exciting to drive? Well perhaps we have to wait for few more months in order to get our answers. Recently Mercedes has also unveiled the cabin of the new E-Class which actually draws its inspiration from S-Class cabin which actually makes this whole lot interesting I guess.
This upcoming sedan will make its global premiere at the 2016 Detroit Motor show in January and as you all can expect the new E will definitely look more stylish, will have a more sophisticated and luxurious cabin packed with new features and perhaps many more.

The new Mercedes E-Class as already mentioned above uses a completely new MRA rear wheel drive platform which has actually helped it to shed some serious amount of weight as we have seen with the new C-Class. Although the prototypes caught in the spyshots was wrapped in heavy camouflage but keeping in mind Mercedes-Benz’s current design language we are pretty sure that the new E Class too will have the same face that we have seen on some recently launched Mercedes products.
The E-Class which is codenamed W213 seems like that it has taken some styling cues from the C-Class as we have already seen in the newly launched teaser video gets completely newly designed headlamps which gets a set of 84 LED’s in the shape of Boomerang. The interesting thing about the new headlamp DRL’s is that it actually has two colors, apart from the White light the LED’s also emits Blue lights as well. Just like what we saw in the Audi’s matrix headlamp setup that it does not blind the oncoming traffic when the high beams are used. The overall silhouette of the car also looks roundish in shape. Towards the front you will also notice a new grille while the lower bumpers will also get bigger air vents as well.
Towards the side profile the new E-Class will also get new set of wheels and rear ORVM’s finished in body color while you can also notice the side door handles are also finished in body color as well. Although the rear profile of the car too has been wrapped in heavy camouflage but it will most probably get duel exhaust at the back and newly designed taillamps units completed with LED lamps.
Surprisingly Mercedes-Benz has already released the production ready interior images of the upcoming E-Class even before its launch. Perhaps this has been done to attract the attention of the potential customers from all across the world.
There is no doubt in the fact that new E-Class interior looks absolutely gorgeous, take a single glance and you could easily tell that the new cabin of the E-Class has taken its styling inspiration from the new generation S and C-Class. The flowing dashboard curves definitely will attract your attention as it also gets a huge 12.3 inch touchscreen for the infotainment system while there is also another 12.1 inch touchscreen display behind the steering wheel which displays the speedometer, rev counter and many other statuses related to the car.
The steering wheel in particular also received a new feature which comes in the form of touch sensitive buttons. This buttons can actually detect horizontal as well vertical swipes, this feature will help control all the functions of the infotainment system using only their thumb. The COMMAND infotainment system also gets improved graphics and new menus and screens. The new generation E-Class also gets ambient lighting system as well complete with the choices of 64 colors, there is also an optional Burmester 3D surround sound system as well available with 23 speaker setup.
For those who are looking for sophistication Mercedes will provide a huge range of high-grade leathers and wood inserts to spruce up the cabin. Lastly you can also expect more legroom availability towards the rear seat because of the new platform.
