The newest entry level premium Cabriolet Joins the Mercedes lineup

Mercedes recently added a new cabriolet to their lineup which actually joins the other open top offering including the flagship S-Class cabriolet, the SLC and the SL class. The specialty of these cabriolets lays in their elegant styling and offcourse their classic fabric soft top. The C-Class cabriolet which actually is the entry level premium cabriolet offering from Mercedes actually promises to offer an amazing open top driving experience throughout the year as well.

The new C-Class Cabriolet is the new entry level model which brings out the German auto makers design philosophy, sensual purity as well as their new definition of contemporary luxury. It may look close to their recently launched C-Class Coupe but you can expect the soft top to add a new refinement level inside the cabin once you actually close it, but you can actually also open the soft top to actually take the fun of open air driving.

Under the hood the C-Class Cabriolet also gets plenty of drivetrains option as well, these drivetrain options includes a total of six petrol engines and two diesel engines. As we already mentioned above the C-Class aCabriolet without its roof looks identical to the C-Class Coupe in many ways. What is even more interesting is also the fact that both the Coupe and the Cabriolet even has identical dimension as well. Towards the front the newest member of the C family features a diamond radiator grille, the stylish headlamps gets high performance LED units which definitely will provide enough illumination which will make the night drives safe. Just behind the front headlamps you will find the long bonnet and a high beltline. The soft top takes exactly 20 seconds to open and close and can be operated upto speeds of 50 km/h. Towards the rear the C-Class Cabriolet also gets about 360 Litres of boot space and 285 Litres of space with the boot open which may not be much compared to that of the sedan. The C-Class Cabriolet also gets an impressive 17 inch wheel as well as standard. The rear profile of the car is then complemented by the stylish looking taillamps. Due to their clever design the new C-Class Cabrioelt gets a cd value of 0.28.

The interiors of the new C-Class Cabrolet definitely draw all its inspirations from the C-Class saloon; there is no doubt in the fact that t6he Cabriolets interior promise to offer all the high grade materials. The seats in particular get wrapped in leather which actually reflects all the heat. This leather wrapping all the good parts is actually available in five colour shades. The sports seats in particular gets an added muscular side bolster along with integrated head restraints. To enjoy the open air driving across all season one can actually also opt for an optional AIRSCARF neck-level heating.

Towards the rear the Cabriolet gets individual seats while the backrests offers a thorough loading feature, it even can be split in 50:50 ratio which actually takes the Cabriolet a step closer to calling it a practical car.


As we have already mentioned above the C-Class Cabriolet is actually available with 6 petrol and 2 diesel drivetrains. The petrol drivetrain range starts from 1.6 Litre, four cylinder unit which is capable of producing about 156 Hp of peak power while the top end 3.0 Litre six cylinder engine which is available under the hood of the hood of the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Cabriolet is actually capable of producing an equally impressive 367 Hp of peak power.

The diesel drivetrain on the other hand consists of actually two engines, the C220d is capable of producing about 170 Hp of peak power while the same engine available under the hood of the C250 d is actually capable of producing about 204 Hp of peak power and an impressive 500 Nm of torque. The prices for the C-Class Cabriolet have not been announced yet but we can certainly assure you that it will definitely make its way into the Indian market.


There is no doubt in the fact that the C-Class Cabriolet definitely gives those people who actually does not actually wants to spend all their money getting the flagship S-Class Cabriolet. The C-Class promises enough luxury inside while all the engines definitely looks powerful as well. This new C-Class will rival the likes of the BMW 4 Series convertible, the Audi S5 and the A5 Cabriolet while it will take on the likes of the A3 Cabriolet which has been here in the Indian market for quite some time now.
