From Bugatti to McLaren, supercars are roaring at Geneva
If February was the month for Asia’s largest Auto Expo at New Delhi, then March is all about most prestigious auto show of Europe; Geneva Motor Show. In the capital city of Switzerland the ongoing automotive event is full of exotic cars. A total of 61 cars are debuting at the event, and among them luxury cars, super cars and hyper cars are the most talked about segment. Supercars are undeniably something always grab our attention everywhere, every time.
At the Geneva Motor Show the supercar segment is full of exotic beauties. Some names worthy of mention are Aston Martin DB11, Bugatti Chiron, McLaren 570GT, Koenigsegg Regera, Lamborghini Centenario, Pagani Huayra BC and many more.
Here we choose 6 supercars unveiled/unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show. Let’s take a look at them.
The McLaren 675 LT is a track focussed supercar from the British manufacturer. The car, based on the McLaren 650 S, is available only as a coupe and only 500 will be ever produced.
The 675 LT features a carbon fibre bodywork for weight reduction. The supercar weighs a 100 kgs less than the standard 650S. It is powered by a re-engineered version of the company’s M838TL V8 engine that’s twin-turbocharged. It now produces 666 HP and 700 Nm, which is 25 HP and 22 Nm more than the 650 S. It is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox that now responds twice as fast. The car also features upgraded suspension, carbon ceramic brakes and Pirelli P-Zero tyres.
Chris Harris, a professional driver and reviewer, has got his hands on one such example of the car. Watch as he unleashes the true potential of the track focussed car which competes against the Ferrari 458 Speciale.
We knew that this was coming, the Sports Series and the most affordable car from Mclaren. Finally they revealed the car at the 2015, New York Auto Show and christened it as the 570S. Just like all of you we too are equally excited about this new Coupe which gets some of its genes from the P1 and the 670S. In this video Mr. Chris Goodwin who is Chief Test Driver for Mclaren explains all the details about the newest addition to the British auto manufacturer’s stable.
The Mclaren 570S as explained by Mr. Goodwin is a driver’s car which focuses on performance. It’s a true sportscar in every sense and to make this car even special Mclaren has used a carbon fibre chassis which or in other words also called a carbon monocoque structure which helps in reducing the overall weight. As a result of that reduced overall weight the Coupe is extremely agile and also fuel efficient at the same time. When we talked about fuel efficiency we should definitely talk about its heart so the new 570S Coupe is powered by a 3.8 Litre Turbo charged engine which has been revised heavily, this unit is capable of producing about 570 Ps of peak power and an impressive 600 Nm of torque. So what you can actually do with all that power? Mclaren 570S Coupe can sprint from 0-100km/h mark in 3.2 seconds while it can touch top speed of 324 km/h mark.
Mclaren unveiled their newest offering in the market called the 570S at the2015, New York Auto Show recently. This also happens to be their cheapest offering and is meant to take on the Porsche’s 911 Turbo. The 570S is the first car from Mclaren’s Sports Series which will later be joined by atleast 4 to 5 other models; the Sports series joins the Super Series and the Ultimate Series from the same auto manufacturer which also consists of some other interesting cars as well. The specialty of the Sports Series is that it introduces Mclaren’s new race-derived technologies and design elements to the new breed of customer.
The 570S joins the mid-engined rear wheel drive coupe league of cars and it too is actually built around the carbon fibre structure which means the 570S Coupe is extremely lightweight and which helps it in class leading power to weight ratio of 434 Ps per tonne. Talking about power let me inform you that this mid engine Coupe is extremely powerful and uses a M838TE twin turbo V8 engine which produces an impressive amount of power and torque, the performance figures are equally interesting though. The 570S Coupe is able to sprint from 0-100 km/h mark in just 3.2 seconds while it also the ability to touch a top speeds of 324 Km/h mark which is simply amazing.
Although this Coupe is cheaper than the other Mclaren road legal cars but it shares its DNA with the 650S and the mighty P1 and just because this car is cheap that actually does not mean it will also leave the fun part behind it. The initial figures and information available with us surely makes this car equally interesting like the other Cars available from the British auto manufacturer who has been in this business scene for 52 years now.

Here is some good news just before the start of the 2015 New York Auto Show, the British Supercar manufacturer Mclaren who still has not set foot on the Indian market yet is planning to launch their newest supercar at the Auto Show.
But here is the best part Bloomberg already has some fresh new images of the latest supercar which will join the big boy’s league soon. We have to admit that this new car which is christened the 570S looks mind-blowing! The 570S will also be the manufacturers cheapest offering for the market and expected price range will start from an estimated $180,000. Just like some other Mclaren offerings the 570S is also a mid engine rear wheel drive Coupe which is powered by a powerful V8 unit and this unit is expected to produce about 562hp of peak power which will help the car to sprint from 0-100 km/h mark in just 3.2 seconds unbelievably! This is even quicker than the Porsche 911 S.
The Mclaren 570S will have to face challenges from the recently introduced next generation Audi R8 and as already mentioned above the Porsche 911 Turbo. Styling wise the new offering from the 52 year old auto manufacturer is filled with curves, though what is worth mentioning is the fact that it has been built entirely on carbon fiber chassis and weighs only about 1270.06 Kilograms.
According to some official sources this also will be one practical supercar which you can be used daily. It has an impressive interior space and is extremely comfortable as well. The officials also predicted that this new product will help add some impressive numbers in their sales chart.
This definitely got to be one of the most interesting videos that we shared with you, Autocar U.K staff Andrew Frankel was lucky enough to get to drive one of the most advanced GTR car in the World the Mclaren P1 GTR which is based on their road legal P1.
In this video you can watch Chris Goodwin who happens to be the chief Test driver for Mclaren explains every single detail to Andrew before the door gets shut and he has to control the 986 Bhp beast all by himself on track. The Mclaren P1 GTR pushes things to a whole new limit, this car will only be made available to the Mclaren P1 owners and the production of this track focused car will only begin when Mclaren completes the production process of the 375th standard P1 car.
This P1 GTR surely achieved some numbers and the figures looks something like this, the P1 GTR can sprint from 0-100 km/h mark in just 2.8 seconds, it has an electronically limited top speed of about 350 km/h mark, it can reach the 300 km/h mark from standstill in just 16.5 seconds. Surely this figure sounds interesting and all that is possible because of the car’s lightweight, this car weighs only about 1, 440 Kilograms which is amazing.
Watch the video to get some more details of the cockpit and also how it performs on track.
Mclaren the creator of the hypercar P1 and many other supercars in the past showcased the 675 LT at the 85th International Geneva Motor Show. Based on the 650S Coupe the 675 LT is definitely been brought back to life to relieve Mclaren’s ‘Longtail’ heritage glory days.
Although Mclaren will only be building 500 units of this track focused car which has lost some serious amount of weight and as a result of that the 675LT also happens to be the lightest car in its class. Injected with more power and optimized aerodynamics to perform better on the track. The 675 LT now can sprint from 0-100 km/h mark in just 2.9 seconds which is actually a second quicker than the standard car and all that was possible because the 675LT is actually 100 Kilograms lighter than the standard 650S.
This car is meant to perform and that is also the reason why the M838TL engine which also performs its duty on the 650S Coupe and Spider has been modified to extract more power, but here is the real deal although this car is extreme still it is very much a road legal car which will be offered in the Coupe only form. The 675 LT with all the characteristics found its place in the McLaren Super Series; this extreme road legal coupe has the ability to reach the 200 km/h mark from standstill in just 7.9 seconds while it can kiss the 330 km/h mark with ease.

This is the ultimate battle of supercars and the two contenders that you will notice in this video are the Mclaren P1 and the Ferrari La Ferrari. Now both these hybrid supercars pack a lot of punch and are powered by both petrol and electric motor for that extra bit of boost.
The P1 weighs just 1400 Kilograms and produces about 903 Bhp of peak power which gives you an idea of how fast and extreme this car can be while the La Ferrari on the other hand weighs about 1350 Kilograms and produces even more power than the P1, 950 Bhp to be exact. If you like wicked exhaust note and all those power waiting to be unleashed with just a little push on the gas throttle then you should definitely watch this video (watch the 2:07 part of the video and you can see the brutal acceleration of the P1). Both these car not only looks good but also provides tremendous amount of grip but still you can’t really stop yourself from swinging out the rear section of the car intentionally specially in turns but that’s the real fun part of driving a sportscar right?
Now the folks at Car magazine try to find out which car is a better handling machine and comes out with an interesting conclusion watch the video and find it out.
Mclaren P1 and a Porsche 918………
What are the next words that are coming in your mind? Is It Race? If it’s ‘race’ then today is your lucky day because believe it or not you get to see a P1 locking horns with the 918 Spyder. Now as you all know both of these hypercars are actually powered by a hybrid engine which means that you have a powerful petrol engine as well as an electric motor which actually results in an amazing power output. Both these cars are meant for race track and are extremely fast at the same time and in this video you can actually find out how fast they actually are on a real race track.
On paper the Mclaren P1 produces about 903 hp of peak power and about 1500 Nm of torque which is absolutely brilliant while on the other hand the Porsche 918 generates about 887 hp of peak power and 1275 Nm of torque which is comparatively less than the P1. Offcourse! The Porsche 918 is a heavier car than the Mclaren p1 and thus is also slower……No! Actually not because the Mclaren P1 and Porsche 918 both can accelerate from 0-100 km/h mark on just 2.8 seconds while they both actually can reach speeds of above 335 km/h mark.
Folks at Evo try to set a fastest lap time on both these cars and try to find out who comes out as the clear winner.
How often do you actually see a Hypercar on road? In this video there is not one but actually two of the world’s finest and really fast Hypercar’s which are ready to race against each other in an open airstrip.
Autocar recently conducted a drag race between the Mclaren P1 and the Porsche 918 Spyder which are both actually has a hybrid powertrain. These mid engine Hypercars are fast and the engine produces an enormous amount of power. However there is a twist here there is one more contender who too actually is participating in this unique drag race and that’s the new Ducati 1199 Superleggera. Now you must be thinking that the motorcycle surely weighs almost less than half of this two cars and a car although be it an extreme Hypercar like the Mclaren P1 or the Porsche 918 cannot actually compete with a motorcycle because it’s lightweight and fast. But you will actually have to wait till the end of this video to find out what actually happens next.
The Mclaren P1 actually produces 904 bhjp while the Porsche 918 produces about 875 bhp while the super exclusive Ducati Superleggera produces about 200 bhp of peak power which is really less compared to the other two beasts here.
Enjoy the Drag race and find out who actually wins this ultimate battle.
It’s a rare sight really! Quite honestly how often do you get to watch supercar owner’s pushing their cars to the limit on an empty private airstrip?
But Evo along with Vmax200 organized an event called Evo Max where supercar owners from all over the UK were invited to push their cars to the limit and it was a massive event which took place on September 2014. There were a lot of supercars present at the event and all waiting to reach the top speed and their owners eagerly waiting for their turn to unleash their beasts on the airstrip. There were
Lamborghinis, Mclaren, Noble, Mercedes AMG’s Aston Martins, Porsches, Bentleys and believe it or not even a Ferrari La-Ferrari and last but not the least a Bugatti Veyron.
You all have heard about the new McLaren P1 which at present is one of the most advanced road legal cars available in the International market. The P1 uses 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-8 from their another car the 12C but this engine has been tuned differently and thus generates about 800 Hp of peak power, not only this McLaren has also used an electric motor with the twin turbo V8 which seperately produces an estimated 150 Hp and 500 pound-feet of torque. Thus you get a combined peak power of 903 Hp and an astonishing 1,100 pound-feet of torque. Now thats an insane amount of power.
Autocar UK test drives the new McLaren P1 both on the road and inside a track enjoy the video and please leave your thoughts about this new P1 in our comment section below.
The automobile as we know it is undergoing a revolutionary change. The Mclaren P1 is one among a few other supercars that are so complex that it took more than a century to become reality. The high-tech systems that power these modern supercars are the result of decades of development and research. One key factor that played a vital role in these cars to materialize was Formula 1.
Mclaren has been racing in Formula 1 since its early days. Formula 1 is a test bed for modern technologies and the Mclaren P1 is the result of the hard work that gone into making championship winning race cars. Having conquered speeds over 200 mph, their focus now is on creating supercars that produce less greenhouse gases and burn fuel more efficiently than before.
Hybrid systems have been around for a while now. However, no one had ever used hybrids to power 1000 horsepower supercars topping well over 200 mph. The Mclaren P1 has shown us the future of motoring with its highly complicated hybrid drive. Ferrari and Porsche too have their own versions of hybrid supercars, each with unique qualities of their own.
The Mclaren P1 makes use of a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 along with a bank of high powered batteries and electric motors to generate a combined output of over 900 horsepower. Couple that to a car that weighs as much as your average family hatchback and results of this combination are rather profound.

For 2013, Mclaren Automotive has updated the MP4-12C package with a host of changes. To the naked eye, the 2013 Mclaren MP4-12C looks no different. However, tweaks to its internals add up to an all-around improvement in both responsiveness and sportiness.
The 2013 model year MP4-12C supercar gains an extra 25 horsepower from its 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine. The additional power output does not affect over all efficiency, though. Among other concerns for both owners and those planning to buy a ’12C was the sluggish gearbox. The SSG transmission on the new model gets a software upgrade making it more responsive that before.
A unique thing about Mclaren, is that they’re offering all the recent upgrades to owners of the previous model for no additional cost. So if you already happen to own an MP4-12C then you could drop it back to Mclaren for a 25 horsepower bump and transmission software update.
All said, the 2013 Mclaren MP4-12C is based around a carbon fiber monocoque with a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive setup. The twin-turbocharged V-8 generates 625 PS and 600 Nm of torque. The MP4-12C is known for being an easy-to-drive supercar with a comforting ride and sharp handling.

Mclaren 650S is the latest entrant in the supercar market and it made a grand debut at the Geneva motor show. The 650S as many of you ‘googled’ it couple of times already is positioned just between the MP4-12C and the P1.
It shares the same 3.8 litre, V8 engine which also does duty on the MP4-12C but here it generates 650Ps of maximum power which is obviously more than the 12C(600Ps). Now here are some more interesting data it does 0-100 km/h mark in just 3 seconds and the 200 km/h mark in 8.4 seconds. Still want more? We promise you will love this car even more after hearing this it weighs only 1330 Kilograms and has a top speed of over 330 km.
This car looks different than the original MP4-12C but shares lot of its components and even styling quos from both the 12C and the P1. The change in the design has led to more downforce at high speeds which will further enhance its good handling. Mclaren is known to build some of the more advanced and sophisticated piece of machinery, there supercars are almost perfect from every sense they have a great handling, looks absolutely stunning and is fun to drive. Unlike other supercars you get a very sophisticated and comfortable cabin with quite a few numbers of interesting equipments which includes a satellite radio and navigation. It is also one of the safest car in the world and has carbon-ceramic disc brakes fitted both at its front and rear which are capable of bringing the supercar to halt quite efficiently.

The most comprehensive insight into the new Mclaren P1. Better than even Jeremy Clarkson’s review on Top Gear. Impressive! Definitely, absolutely.
If you are a petrolhead, you won’t be new to Chris Harris’ antics, the way he trashes supercar tires one after the other. A new internet sensation, Chris is probably the best anchor who speaks his mind through an unadulterated British accent and world seems to love it.
This week he reviews the Mclaren P1. A supercar which according to Chris is "the new thing". Better than the Porsche 918 Spyder and even better than the Ferrari LaFerrari, probably.
While, Mclaren is busy letting journalists drive their new supercar, Ferrari seems a left behind. The world is waiting to get a taster of the new Ferrari but for now, the Mclaren is the best supercar in the world (as proved by Chris Harris).
The Bugatti Veyron was a milestone in automotive history. The P1 however, betters the Veyron. It may not have a 1000 horsepower but it does have enough grunt to make a person like Chris squeal and moan at the wheel. The numbers are astonishing too. 916 horsepower twin-turbocharged V-8 coupled to an electric motor and a top speed of 217 mph.
Full points to Chris and Mclaren for this video. Oh, and the chat with other Chris (Goodwin), loved it. And finally thanks to J.F., Mike and the rest of the team at the Drive network for bringing us this awesome first drive review of the P1.

Mclaren had hinted us about a supercar that would be faster than the MP4-12C but less expensive than the P1 hypercar and slower, of course. This is it. The Mclaren 650S which makes me believe that the P1 and the MP4-12C have had some intimate time together and that the 650S is the result of their mating.
I am sure you would agree with me if I say, the MP4-12C isn’t pretty and it is the same story with the new 650S. Despite the front end borrowed from the P1, the 650S looks like it was designed and created by men in Mclaren’s business and marketing department. I think, it would’ve been better if they had kept the 12C exterior and made improvements around it.
Anyway, here are the details of the new Mclaren 650S. The new car is based on the 12C but offers numerous improvements and weight saving measures. The same 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 has been carried over but in the 650S it produces 650 PS or 641 horsepower.

The Mclaren MP4-12C hasn’t got the most interesting of names and neither is that good looking. Few have criticized the car for being too technical and rather too perfect. The on-board computers do come in handy whenever things go out hand, but most of the time its like being watched upon by boss man who wouldn’t let you chill out a bit.
Anyway, so the Mclaren MP4-12C is a brilliant supercar with a few not so serious drawbacks. A few tuning companies have tried their hand at wiping the serious face off the Mclaren and have done so quite successfully.
A Mclaren MP4 in Gulf Oil livery is a brainchild of Mclaren Newport Beach and I must say, it looks chuffing marvelous. The famous livery has featured on many racing cars throughout the years. The classic paint scheme was adopted at the Le Mans racing series among others.
Apart from the Gulf Oil livery wrap which was handled by Protective Film Solutions, the rest of the car is left stock. So, no fancy body kits or oversized spoilers on this one.
