Mclaren 650S Spider

For quite some time now Mclaren has stopped building the MP4-12C which was one of the brilliant production cars that came out from the British Sportscar manufacturer workshop. In the meantime the P1 Hypercar came and impressed the people with its sheer power and that new and exclusive styling. Let’s just say that the 650S Spider has just evolved out of the above mentioned cars but still has its own unique character.

Unveiled at the 84th International Geneva Motor Show the 650S Spider according to Mclaren does not compromise on its performance or handling a bit still after being an open top convertible. Mechanically this car is similar to the 650S Coupe and is powered by the same McLaren M838T twin turbo V8 engine. We knew the MP4 12 C was no doubt a great car be it its handling, power figures or ride quality and believe it or not the new 650S Spider too shares the same Carbon fibre Composite chassis which was used by the 12C.

This open top convertible is fast and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.0 seconds flat while it has a claimed top speed of about 329 Km/h. For stopping weather you like it or not Mclraen has fitted the car with carbon fiber ceramic disc brakes while it also comes with sticky Pirelli tyres for maximum grip. There is absolutely no way this convertible compromises on anything.

Lamborghini Aventador Vs Mclaren 650S: Video

When it comes to fast cars you definitely are aware of the two names Lamborghini and Mclaren that also stays on top of the preference lists of auto enthusiast or car lovers. In this video you can watch the Huracan and the 650 S battle it out on a wet track.

Now when it comes to these cars both Lamborghini and Mclaren added the Huracan and the 650S to their stable recently and both these sportscars has got plenty of time to prove how good they are on track as well as on road. While the Lamborghini Huracan is powered by a 5.2 Litre V10 unit which produces about 602 Bhp of peak power and 560 Nm of torque, Mclaren 650S relies on a much smaller 3.8 Litre twin turbo V8 unit which produces about 650 Ps of peak power and 678 NM of torque. Now both these cars are almost at par when it comes to performance while the Huracan is able to accelerate from 0-100 km/h mark in just 3.2 seconds while the 650 S does the same in just 3.0 seconds flat. The Huracan can reach a top speed of 325 km/h mark while the British manufacturer’s car can reach 329 km/h mark which is absolutely amazing.

As you can watch in this video that both these cars are giving each other some tough competition and it is quite hard to determine which of these sports car has an edge over the other or which is actually the clear winner but surely the Huracan has better traction because it comes with a 4 wheel drive while the 650S is only a rear wheel driven coupe.

If you love some hot sportscar in action and their screaming exhaust note then you will definitely love watching this video also does tell us which one of these two cars is your favorite.

Video: Drag Races (Featuring Mclaren, Lamborghini, Audi & Mercedes)

Video: Drag Races (Featuring Mclaren, Lamborghini, Audi & Mercedes)

This got to be the most exciting and heart pounding video series for the supercar fans because recently Auto Express conducted a drag race shootout event at an open airstrip which featured some of the fastest and wildest supercars that you can imagine.

The drag race involved Mclaren 650S, Lamborghini Aventador, Audi R8 V10 and a Mercedes S 63 AMG Coupe although there are few other races which were also conducted between other cars but we found these four cars the most interesting from the lot. In the first video you can watch a drag race between a rear wheel drive Mclaren 650S and a four wheel drive Lamborghini Aventador. The AVentador is powered by a 6.5 litre V12 which produces about 700 Hp of peak power while its competitor is the Mclaren 650S uses a twin turbo 3.8 Litre V8 which produces about 650 Hp of peak power.

While in the second video you can watch a Mercedes Benz S63 AMG Coupe which is powered by a 5.5 litre Bi-turbo V8 engine producing about 636 hp of peak power, the engine has been mated to a 7 speed automatic gearbox which send all the power to the rear wheel while its opponent is the Audi R8 V10 which is powered by a 5.2 litre V10 produces about 535 Hp of peak power, the engine unit is mated to a 7 speed duel clutch gearbox which sends power to all the 4 wheels.

Now the results are pretty interesting. So watch both the videos to find out who are the winners in this 1, 800 meter long drag race.

Mclaren 650S at the Geneva motor show

Mclaren 650S is the latest entrant in the supercar market and it made a grand debut at the Geneva motor show. The 650S as many of you ‘googled’ it couple of times already is positioned just between the MP4-12C and the P1.

It shares the same 3.8 litre, V8 engine which also does duty on the MP4-12C but here it generates 650Ps of maximum power which is obviously more than the 12C(600Ps). Now here are some more interesting data it does 0-100 km/h mark in just 3 seconds and the 200 km/h mark in 8.4 seconds. Still want more? We promise you will love this car even more after hearing this it weighs only 1330 Kilograms and has a top speed of over 330 km.

This car looks different than the original MP4-12C but shares lot of its components and even styling quos from both the 12C and the P1. The change in the design has led to more downforce at high speeds which will further enhance its good handling. Mclaren is known to build some of the more advanced and sophisticated piece of machinery, there supercars are almost perfect from every sense they have a great handling, looks absolutely stunning and is fun to drive. Unlike other supercars you get a very sophisticated and comfortable cabin with quite a few numbers of interesting equipments which includes a satellite radio and navigation. It is also one of the safest car in the world and has carbon-ceramic disc brakes fitted both at its front and rear which are capable of bringing the supercar to halt quite efficiently.

2015 Mclaren 650S

2015 Mclaren 650S

Mclaren had hinted us about a supercar that would be faster than the MP4-12C but less expensive than the P1 hypercar and slower, of course. This is it. The Mclaren 650S which makes me believe that the P1 and the MP4-12C have had some intimate time together and that the 650S is the result of their mating.

I am sure you would agree with me if I say, the MP4-12C isn’t pretty and it is the same story with the new 650S. Despite the front end borrowed from the P1, the 650S looks like it was designed and created by men in Mclaren’s business and marketing department. I think, it would’ve been better if they had kept the 12C exterior and made improvements around it.

Anyway, here are the details of the new Mclaren 650S. The new car is based on the 12C but offers numerous improvements and weight saving measures. The same 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 has been carried over but in the 650S it produces 650 PS or 641 horsepower.
