Downsizing is not really a bad thing. Everything that we use from our phones, MP3 players, gaming consoles etc, are getting smaller by the year. Big isn’t necessary always good and that also holds true for the cars we drive. Facing their worst decline is terms of sales in the last decade, Maruti Suzuki has gone back to do what it does best. Make some of the best small cars in the world so that the approximately 20% drop in their sale figures in October of this year is only a one off incident. In the first quarter of 2012 Maruti Suzuki will introduce the Cervo which will replace the old 800 model. The car was recently launched in the Japanese market and received a good response thanks to its compact dimensions and the low fuel consumption. Given its cheap price and an efficient engine the new Cervo has the necessary ingredients to succeed in the Indian Market. The Cervo is the smallest car in the Suzuki line-up and slots in the same segment as the Tata Nano. The Maruti Suzuki Cervo is estimated to be priced between Rs1.3 to Rs2.20 lakhs.
