2017 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz
The facelift Ciaz with cosmetic updates will make its presence felt in India soon
Maruti Suzuki surely made a wise decision by launching the Ciaz sedan. It not only gave them an opportunity to compete with the Honda City but also helped them to up their ante in the premium market of our Country. The Ciaz became quite popular in our Indian market, and it even went on to steal the spotlight from the popular Honda City. Now it’s been quite sometime now that the mid-size sedan has been launched in the Indian market while its biggest rival already received a facelift for the year 2017 now it’s time for MSIL to add their updates to the Ciaz to keep things fresh at their end.
Maruti made a bold move by deciding to sell the Ciaz via their premium Nexa dealerships. Now the reports state that Maruti will be launching the facelift Ciaz in the coming months with the focus mostly on cosmetic updates and some updates to the feature list. While the launch is on the cards, do not expect Maruti to hike the price extensively to stay in the competition.

2017 MARUTI CIAZ EXTERIOR
There is no doubt in the fact that Ciaz is already a good looking sedan so do not expect any significant cosmetic updates to the exterior. However, to keep things fresh it will receive minor updates in the form of a new restyled grille with lots of chrome on it while you can also expect some chrome garnish to be present on the front bumpers as well. There won’t be any changes made to the side profile though, but you can expect the sedan to sport new set of alloy wheels while the door handles might also get a dash of chrome. Towards the rear profile, the car won’t receive much of a change either expects few updates here and there. Like the pre-facelift variant, the Ciaz will get fewer badges towards the rear because it is now being sold through their Nexa dealerships.
To sum up, Maruti will try every trick in their book to make their flagship sedan look premium and upmarket. The addition of chrome bits and less sticker work on the exterior will further help the Ciaz sedan feel more upmarket.

2017 MARUTI CIAZ INTERIOR
Just like the exterior do not expect too many changes made to the interior as well. The Black and beige cabin looks good inside and helps Ciaz to maintain the premium feel inside. Some upmarket features like a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control are present inside the cabin. Maruti might add a sunroof to the facelift variant this time to the sedan. The rest of the updates to the cabin might include an updated instrument cluster with perhaps a new multi-information display unit at the centre. Lastly, the seats, in particular, will get an updated upholstery while the rear seat, in particular, might get an additional thigh support.
The interior of the Ciaz is already spacious it even promises spacious boot at the rear as well.
2017 MARUTI CIAZ DRIVETRAIN & TRANSMISSION
Maruti will carry over the 1.4 Litre Petrol unit which powers the pre-facelift variant while the diesel variant, on the other hand, is powered by the 1.3 Litre unit. Both the drivetrains are paired to a five-speed manual transmission while a four speed automatic unit is also available with the petrol variant.
The petrol unit is capable of producing about 91 Bhp of peak power and 130 Nm of torque the diesel variant, on the other hand, produces about 89 Bhp of peak power and 200 Nm of torque.
There were reports that Maruti might add a new 1.6 Litre diesel unit to the lineup as well which powers the S-Cross diesel Crossover. This powerful diesel engine offcourse will be available in a slightly different state of tune and will power only the top end trims.

The 1.3 Litre diesel variant gets Suzuki’s SHVS mild hybrid tech which helps in making it one of the most fuel efficient diesel car available for sale in the Indian market. The petrol unit on the hand is not too far behind. The diesel variant promises to return around 28.09 km to a litre while the petrol variant promises around 20 km to a litre.
EXPECTED PRICES OF 2017 MARUTI CIAZ
We are pretty sure that Maruti won’t be hiking the prices of the new car by much in order to stay in the competition. Expect the 2017 facelift Maruti Ciaz prices to start from INR. 8.54 Lakh onwards while the top end diesel will be priced at INR. 10.80 Lakhs. If Maruti introduces the 1.6 Litre variant, we are pretty sure that it will be priced above the top end diesel variant for sure.
To sum the entire story, MSIL will be launching the Ciaz facelift in India within the next few months, and it will receive few cosmetic updates to the exterior as well as interior. The extra additions to the facelift variant interiors will perhaps include a sunroof, MID and new seat upholstery. The addition of the new 1.6 Litre diesel unit will be an additional boon for the customers.
