Maruti’s new compact SUV, the Vitara Brezza is one of the most-anticipated launches of 2016. The crossover will be launching on March 8 but is reported to be seen in showrooms only after March 21. Now, the folks at Gaadi have caught the vehicle out on a promotional shoot.

The portal reports that there were four Maruti Brezzas on location, and in different colours; interestingly one of them had lost its roof. The website has speculated that this might have been done for shoot purposes. All four crossovers were headed in a convoy towards the Greater-Noida Agra Taj Expressway bearing registration numbers from different states. The contrasting theme between the body and roof is expected to be offered only in the top trims.

Initially the Vitara Brezza will come only with a 1.3-litre Multijet engine sourced from Fiat. This unit will be capable of 89 bhp and 200 Nm of peak torque, routing power to the wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. Maruti has confirmed that a petrol unit will also be offered at a later stage, though it remains to be seen whether it will be the old 1.2-litre unit or the new 1.0-litre BoosterJet unit that will power the upcoming Baleno RS. With the demand for AMT soaring, a variant equipped with that gearbox is also anticipated.

Maruti’s compact SUV is expected to give stiff competition to the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and the Renault Duster.
